I think that's what a defender says about one of Losman's Passes.

ZING!

Hey fellas,

It was a pleasure doing the game w/ Frank Rossi on Saterday... too bad I hear that the feed wasn't too great.  Either way, it looks like I'm going to be doing this weekends game in Alliance which I can't wait to do.  It will be quite an experience being able to sit back and watch what it's like being in this atmosphere rather than playing in it.  I can hardly remember last year's game b/c it went by so fast... well let me rephrase that... I remember it very well (unfortunately) but it did fly by and all the sudden, that was that.

Injury update-- Stepnick's initial prognosis was a broken fibula... however, after x-rays they determined it's a high ankle sprain.  I spoke to Steve last night and he was in high spirits and has no plan on sitting out this weekends game.  The big question will be how healthy he will be?

Great job by Fisher getting it done against a team everyone knew they were better at.  They should have won the game by 50-- I'm still waiting to see Fisher play to what they are capable of... If they do that this week, there's no doubt in my mind they can make a re-peat trip to the FINAL 4.

On 18-hours notice and with little prior broadcasting under your belt, you did a great job yesterday, as those who beared with the static all have said to me.  Saturday should be an exciting game and a fun broadcast -- and we're testing the levels to make sure all of you who can't make the game (SUPERMAN57) will be able to hear us with great audio quality.  Thanks again to you, RunningRobby25 -- And see you in Alliance!

Losman is completely done for me now.  I will no longer defend him.

That is all.

Its about time....

This is what he's done his entire career, one great moment vs a ton of bonehead moments....

Im not sold on edwards quite yet either but he's lightyears ahead of JP in terms of being able to read a defense and finding the open guy....

If they find out that Edwards isnt the man after the next 5 games they'll have a great crop of QB's to pick from in the draft....

Shark

In all honesty, I doubt last year's score and performance has little impact on the outcome of Saturday's game. This year's team is different for both the Cardinal's and the Raiders. The head coaches have installed plays and schemes that best utilize this years talent. The overall offenses and defenses may retain certain tendencies from their respective coaching staffs but last year in fact just that.... last year.

I've watched Mount all year and I believe them to be improved over last years edition but each game takes on a character all it own. They are won or lost on the field.

SJF has started to build a dominant program that is now becoming the top school in the east region. I look forward to this year's edition and expect a great effort from them. I'm also looking forward to the next 2 years in the season openers. Rivalries are great!

For those traveling to Alliance, safe travels. Looking forward to meeting some of you.

I can't believe teams are still dumb enough to kick it to Devin Hester.

A coach like Shanahan gets to high on himself and thinks he has a great scheme to kick it to him and cover the kick....

So they do it again and the same thing happens again???  Could they be that foolish?  Apparently they are.

The Rev expected SJFC to beat Curry soundly, and the Cards did not disappoint.

The Rev wishes the best of luck to the Cardinals against Mt. Union!!!

Do upstate NY proud.  Take it all the way!

Here are the keys I think to beat Mt. Union.

1) You have to throw the ball well. A good qb and some speed recievers can beat MUC's defense.  BUT, you must have some sort of a threat to run to keep MUC's defense up at the line.  This is what IC did against them.  Juvan had his career best in yards in a game, and I must say, he was near perfect.   A few balls were even dropped.  A draw play or two might work, but you have to get the ball downfield.  Play action is a must, and guys must be able to block the extra blitzer and Kramer must be able to throw a good pass to the open hot read reciever.

2) Dont focus on Garcon You have two safties deep, a LB in the flat, and a corner on him. Dont go overboard and worry too much about one player.  The only way he is going to beat you bad is if the saftey gets beat, or if he gets the ball in a posisition where he is running at full speed.  Dont let the DBs get blocked on a screen and pursue to the ball!

3) Don't change your game plan and don't think you can slow down the game by running the ball SJF will not be able to run the ball next week.  Its that simple.  At least they wont be able to run to set up the pass anyway.  SJF will still have to try to run, but sending the RBs in the flat or middle of the field can work against them.

4) Try to keep your contain man unblocked This is tough, but Kmic likes to run back to the sideline.  Make sure the contain man can remain unblocked, and hope to god he can tackle.

Final thoughts:

I think IC suprised Mt. Union a little.  They will not be suprised by SJF.  If MUC had to play IC over again, I think they might do a few different things.  Expect to see this from MUC this week:
-More no-huddle
-More short/screen passes to Garcon
-Less blitzing

If "near perfect" means completing less than 50% of your passes then I guess we have different definitions for success on the football field.  Ithaca played Mount Union tougher than most thought and they should be congratulated for their performance.  Now for the game being "close" I'm confused because it still qualified as a "monkey stomp".  Teams seem to think that if they don't lose by more than 30... then the game was close?

Now SJF comes to Alliance and we all hope it's a good game.  I will say something about last year's SJU/MUC game.   Mount pounded the run and won a "close" contest (non-monkey stomp)...and again SJU should be congratulated...but  here's a question that I've been dying to ask the SJU fans.  You played a Mount team with a minimal passing game.  Micheli was 2-3 for 10 yards and Mount has 51 yards total through the air.  Then a week later you see Micheli "the running QB" set Stagg Bowl records for passing.  Even the national announcers were shocked.  Do you ask yourself how that happened?  Are you curious?  The fact is that Kehres can morph the team (offense & defense) anyway he wants and can limit the "real" looks that teams get of Mount on film (tape).  His ability to manipulate your perception of what Mount is or is not is one of his greatest strengths.  This fact was most obvious between the SJF & WWW games...as WWW was totally overrmatched by an air and ground assault.  Again I'm hoping the game will be a good one this weekend and it will as long as Mount can win by showing as little personality or tendancies as possible.

Yea if you saw the game, you would probably agree that he was "near perfect".  Now I dont remember every pass, but I dont remember many bad throws (besides the INT in the endzone).  A few balls were dropped, a few passes were thrown away (good QB skill).  So yea, I still stand by the fact that he was "near perfect".

And although the final was bad, this could still be called a "close game".  Only a touchdown lead at the half, and Ithaca was in great scoring position twice in the second half and came up empty.  Then a score in the 4th made it 3 possession game.

I'm not so sure how smart NBC is for showing these New England games vs. mediocre teams.  After the first half, the ratings can't be too good... Looks like it already could be another blow out.

boobyhasgameyo

God some of these Mount Union people are getting annoying, they use this tautological argument that covers basically any type of game that you can play against Mount Union.  If it is an extreme blowout (all of those countless 50+ point victories) then Mount Union is just a superior team that is firing on all cylinders.  But if you play Mount Union close then they were just masking things and only running half their offense because they don't believe in blowing teams or style points it's just get the victory.  Then sure enough they blow out another team by more than 50 and it's back to the amazing superiority and nobody can stop any aspect of their game.  Yeah that doesn't get annoying....And don't even try and convince them otherwise because like I said, they have a circular argument that you just can't penetrate.

pg04

+K for using the word tautological!
