Ok first off, WWW fan, read my signiture, it's just how I roll,  Secondly if you read farther down you will see that KS and superman had a conversation about most of Upstate NY is rural which is why I found it funny....  and Yes I think you can say that Rochester is bigger than Whitewater, hell, Pittsford, is probably bigger than Whitewater

and while we're at it, Rochester is only 6 hours from NYC and 7 hours or so from Boston so haha....

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

What happened to not changing your name until someone from the East beats Mount?  You didn't even last three weeks!  I was kind of looking forward to seeing GOEASTREGION82 for the next couple (or several, depending on how long this latest MUC run lasts) years potentially.

My karma level fluctuations are making me nauseous.  Someone call my agent-type person and tell him he's fired!

Quote from: boobyhasgameyo on November 28, 2007, 07:33:38 AMI'm going to venture out there and say Rochester itself...you know the place where the college is at is bigger than wherever Whitewater is, making his statement valid.  Way to cite cities 45 and 90 minutes away though, I guess that makes Whitewater have more people?  And those 45 and 90 minute drives to get to those cities....I bet it's surrounded by a bunch of nowhere (dairy farms, rural towns, etc.  don't deny it), and Whitewater is smack in the middle of it.

Boobyhasgameyo,

Growing up in Webster (one of Rochester's suburbs for those from elsewhere), I have to say that you're use of Buffalo, Syracuse, and even Toronto is doing the exact same thing as you're criticizing.  Maybe that was your point, though.  Buffalo's an hour away, Syracuse is an hour and a half, and Toronto is three and a half from Rochester (even the moronic ferry wasn't much faster).  You can be driving through cornfields in 20 minutes after leaving the War Memorial.  And between Rochester and those other cities?  You pass farmland if you're lucky!  It's mostly just a corridor of the most boring, featureless landscape with I-90 running through the middle of it.  Although I do have to admit, driving from Webster to Mount Union when I was going to school there, it was the drive from Buffalo to the Erie that was the most boring part of the whole trip.

Yes, Rochester itself may be bigger than Whitewater's hometown, but you're listing cities even farther away than the other poster was.  But, like I said, maybe that was your point.

jaypeter

Jay, that was my point....There are large cities close to most places and they are surrounded by a bunch of nothingness....Difference being Rochester itself is a pretty large city, Whitewater is definitely not.  Plus Rochester is only an hour from Syracuse not an hour and a half, I have made that drive a million times believe me.

Isnt SJF in Pittsford anyway?

boobyhasgameyo

St. John Fisher is in a weird spot, it is officially in Pittsford but right next to the borders of East Rochester, close to Fairport, but a Rochester zip code and about 6 miles from the heart of the city.

You drive faster than I do.   ;)  And while I understand your point, it kind of makes me laugh to think of Syracuse as a big city.  Not a knock on your argument, a knock on Syracuse.

RE: Karma fluctuations

Ya, let me tell you what doesn't help that out much:

A) Saying anything on the OAC board that isn't in sync with the party line they have
B) See above

They're good doods, but wow, check sarcasm at the door.
