You really are way too upset about the Jackson thing --- regardless of how stupid it was (and I agree it was stupid), it's still a game, and he's still a kid.

You get wrapped up in a situation, and no doubt the guys were more than 100% frustrated with being taken behind the woodshed, so he did something that was over the top... All Vos has to do is address the team, tell them that it's not what he condones, and move on.

I saw what he was like when he didn't get thrown to this year, and I think he's an idiot for pouting, slamming his helmet, etc. But I also think that too often we forget it's a game, and these are young guys out there --- let them live a little.

RE: Garcon

He's truly a great DIII talent. The key there is DIII --- if he was as good as many want to believe, he'd be playing at that other football school in Ohio... let's keep it all in perspective.

There's a difference between upset and concerned -- honestly, I'm not upset with the situation as my blood pressure remained stable as I wrote that piece.  I'm more concerned about the long-term ramifications it could have should somebody not step forward from the team itself and say, "It was wrong -- and will never happen again."  I understand your arguments and appreciate them, but the episode marred what should've been at least a pleasant moment for everyone involved with SJF since they did something that seven other opponents couldn't do this season:  score a TD against MUC.  Instead, we're still debating the motivation and response to the move.  I think MUC/SJF has a chance to be a good annual event, and something like that can't help -- hence my concern as a fan.

As for Garcon, I agree with what you said about him, although he had a great Stagg Bowl in '06.  It will be interesting to see him play in the video games this week and, assuming a victory, next week, to see if he plays back to that level -- and maybe re-propels his way into a better Draft position.

I might take a ride out your way during the holidays, so I'll let you know.  Sorry I missed you again Saterday, but I wanted to make sure the audio quality was as perfect as possible for the E8ers and OACers.

Tags, from a guy that used to show his a$$ like this (I cannot confirm or deny whether I took my shoes off on the bench during a game my sophomore year and threw them into the bleachers), that kid is getting all he deserves and more.

I agree that they are kids and  sometimes need to grow up but, the only way you grow up is when you get called on the carpet for showing your a$$.  If everyone just looks the other way and says "boys will be boys" that no one ever changes and you end up like some lawyers I have run across down here pounding on tables and carrying on in front of judges.

No one thinks he is a bad kid.  But he needs to take some serious heat for that so he doesn't do it again.  Especially if he is a senior.

morning boys---had snow last eve- and am still digging out---

From my last post at 3ish yesterday to now- i have lost 4 more karma points.

What the heck did i say?

I musta ticked somebody off!

Or is there a karma killer out there whacking everyone?

All this banter / discussion is great.  One thing that seems to get lost or forgotten in the melee is that the players are kids, the fans are fans (fan is short for fanatic), and to criticize anyone for enthusiasm or exercising some frustration only serves to make the person posting appear to be shortsighted.  Only when there is a history of such antics should the subject be admonished for it.  Banging the drum only accomplished one thing; it made the kid look foolish.  I'll bet 30 years from now he will still be wishing he could take that moment back.

I have never coached football and am extremely weary to criticize anyone, especially someone with whom I have not walked in their shoes.  Having said that I feel compelled to comment that if there is one party that deserves ridicule, it is the Fisher coaching staff.  Down 38 points at the end of the 3rd they decide to kick a field goal.  Why not just walk across the field, shake the appropriate hands, and take your team to the locker room.  Were they more worried about avoiding the shutout than trying to get back into the game?  The Fisher loyal should be outraged.  Great way to squander one of the most important teaching moments in sports; to never give up.

I know you are thinking that I should take my own advice and not be so critical.  Well, the players and fan's attendance is optional.  They are not professionals.  At this level, the coaching staff is being paid to teach (they are probably actually considered faculty).  I don't think the logic of "we will kick the field goal here so that we only need 5 TDs to tie and 6 to win" should win the coaches much support.

I think some of us think that he could be playing at a higher level if he chose to.

Is he not 22 years old or so?  Hardly a kid, if you ask me.

So I think Juvan is getting a lot of props for his performance against Mount Union which was deserved, but is Kramer not getting his love because he looks like he has a special interest in small children?? I cant remember his stats specifically but he had almost 300 yards passing with a touchdown and no interceptions, and the Fisher players had 2 passes they could have caught for touchdowns in the first half but it fell through their hands.  I think Kramer did an outstanding job and it's too bad his last game won't be remembered for how well he performed but instead it will be remembered as a blowout.

Also Fisher had more rushing than anybody this year I'm assuming, they actually got to around 60 something yards and Reile averaged 4.1 per carry but I think Kramer being sacked took that total back 24 yards or so and we finished rushing in the 40's.  I didn't realize Hanson was a senior as well, does he have junior eligibility? or is he done?

I have only seen Kramer's backup play twice this year and was not impressed either time, maybe he is better than I give him credit for but I hope we get some stud freshman qb coming in.

Lastly I'm glad we face Mount Union first next year, sure we will most likely come away with an L and that's not a good way to start out the season but I think it will make the Empire 8 competition seem a touch easier in comparison (I don't know, just looking at the glass half full)....Plus Ithaca has to come to Fisher this upcoming season so I look forward to that.
Booby...I have never called out another SJF supporter/poster...BUT...if you have posted 30 posts in regards to SJF-MUC since the beginning of the play-offs, about 29.5 of them have had a direct negative reference or a negative inference towards SJF...now I am a realist (as opposed to Realistic) too, but man , show some positive energy towards SJF and their chances of beating MUC

The season is 3 days old and you are already chalking up a los in week 1 next year...now you sound like the rest of the OAC posters.   I understand favoring your Karma...to some extent....but go look at Daily Dose where many of the MUC posters have 'come around' now with some respect and support for SJF Fan for all his rants before the game.  Like SJF fAN SAID...go out on a limb, that is where the fruit is...

+k to my fellow SJF poster nonetheless.

it was falling faster than the yanks chances of getting santana!

Respect for SJF Fan?????  You're joking, right?

After the fact he (is it YOU) has tried to hide behind the "just supporting my team" schtick.......uh huh.  Blatant, stupid, inflammatory comments aren't really supporting "your team".  They are usually more of a "look at me" cry for attention.

The guy (again is that YOU?) is a joke, and of course will go away until about two weeks before the Mount-SJF game next year.  Oh wait....he will post some kind of HA HA if Mount happens to get beat in either of the next two games.  It's how he rolls.   ::)

No...he, is not me.  And I know he personally and it is not "how he rolls".  Finally, go re-read, or READ the posts on daily dose.   More than 1 MUC poster thanked him for his comments and/or opinion...etc...

And you are correct...he was blatantly and aggressively supporting his team...I will never understand why that is so wrong to the d3.com and post patterns sub-culture.

And please do not respond to this post with overbroad and unsupported generalizations about what you would like SJF Fan to have said to support the view you want to have of him.  If you want to retort with "he was inflamatory...blah blah blah", quote me something more than what was his rightful opinion or otherwise posted in obvious jest.

Good day...
