Read on the OAC board, that the coach was the Head Coach's son!  Yeesh.
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

Vince Kehres the DC.  He was a senior DE in 1998 and played against Rowan in the Stagg that year.  Perhaps he gets temper from his Mom.

How many months would we have to read the posts about something like that if KC Keeler had done it and not LK's son?

The Garcon and VK stuff is gonna be filed away for future use that's for sure.  All the ish I've taken...  its was kinda interesting to see the wheels come off on Saturday.

Its heat of the battle type stuff, but Rowan's never been forgiven for heat of the battle stuff.

Face it no team is perfect or behaves perfectly 100% of the time, 'bout time a little bloom came off the rose in Ohio.  And I have no doubt MUC is the favorite for #10 in 2008, but the only true gentlemen that the Profs have ever played was Pacific Lutheran.  They were so nice while kicking Rowan's azz it made me want to puke.

Back to the office and I just caught up on the E8PP action from the weekend.  Boy, does the East Region suck or what?

Great game on Saterday, but Mt. Union has got to be kicking themselves that they didn't give Pep an all-expenses paid trip to Salem to watch the game.  I called Pep at the half to find out if he was watching the game only to find out that he was at the mall with the Pepettes.  He guessed the score was 21-6 MUC at the half and told him it was only 10-0... Whitewater!  He then grumbled about Mount losing only because he wasn't watching.  I called him again after the fumble recovery made it 17-0 and he immediately went to Dick's and had a TV turned to ESPN where he watched the Purple Raiders score two TDs in about 20 minutes of real time.  After that, Pep left Dick's, finished shopping and drove back to Mayberry.

So, for the record, Mt. Union beat UWW 14-0 in the 7 minutes of game time that Pep watched and Whitewater dominated MUC 31-7 in the 53 minutes that Pep missed.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

"I'm seriously considering not going to another Mount Union game in person."
A quote from jaypeter on the oac board.
sorry- couldnt figure out how to cut and paste---
Hmmm
I think that speaks volumes.

fisheralum91...the reason I said that is that I don't get a chance to go to many games.  Living in Texas for 6 years and in NC now, it's hard to make it to a game.  But, the biggest reason is that for me, the last two games I've seen have been losses by Mount Union...loss to Rowan in the quarters and this year's loss to UWW in the Stagg.  If I had been able to scrape the $550 together to get on the plane from San Antonio to Salem the year Mount played Trinity, I'm pretty sure that Mount would have lost that Stagg Bowl, too.

My tongue hurts from being planted so firmly in my cheek when I made that comment.

gotcha jaypeter-

still is the cream of the crop as far as im concerned.

looking forward to the fisher game in the beginning of the season!

JT - one of my favorite parts of The Sweet Season is the account of SJU v PLU.  It's amazing that Frosty was able to have teams that carried themselves that way.

91...No offense taken here; I just wanted to clarify.  You're right, sarcasm doesn't often come through.  I'll be there for future games whenever I'm able.  I'm already frustrated that when Mount playes at Fisher in a couple years, my school year will have already started and in all likelihood I won't be able to make it up.  But, who knows....maybe I'll have moved on by then.  A Zwiegle's Texas Hot, Zwiegle's porker, and a garbage plate mixed together with MUC football...sounds like a winning combination to me!

Who lays a monster hit on you, then picks you up, asks if you are OK, then says ATTAWAY and your name?

Its is very admirable and disturbing at the same time. JT's football brain isn't wired that way.

Now, believe it or not, I'm going to defend Mt. Union a bit here.

This was a very uncharacteristic game for them from start to finish -- and walking the sidelines, I could easily sense there was something unusual in terms of the mood on their benches during the game.  I can only remember three times when the Mt. Union team was pumped (their crowd was vocal all night, so there were no concerns there from my perspective).  Their first drive of the first quarter (ended at the 2 on downs), the UWW first drive of the second half (ended with a fumble that should've been a touchback had the ball not squirted out) and with three minutes to go down by 3.  The remainder of the game, you'd find only two or three players trying to cheerlead for their squad -- and it wasn't dominoing at all.

The mood I just described actually would've fit the opponents of MUC better in the playoffs -- somber for most after being routed and trying to gain some semblence of momentum before the final gun.  I can't really explain why the mood was so muted on that sideline for most of the game (even with 6 minutes to go, down by 3).  My one thought is that the team was actually a little tired in a atrophic way -- and when somebody put up a proper fight this season, the team had the wrong cleats on to catch back up to them, both in terms of attitude and drive.

Yet, even with this sideline anomaly, as I'd call it, Mt. Union had legitimate chances to come back in the game and maybe pass UWW on the scoreboard -- and UWW stepped it up every time.  This was an extremely well-played game by both teams.  Both teams deserve credit for their play Saturday, because down 17-0, MUC didn't cave -- and up only 17-14 just minutes later, UWW didn't cave either.

Vince Kehres' two forays to midfield, one in each half, were improper -- no doubt.  Pierre Garcon's actions during the punt (falling down) were actually laughable (the ref he appealed to was literally laughing and shaking his head as Garcon literally had a finger laid on him and fell down -- I was laughing myself).  His other actions I'd term as characteristic of a receiver in the NFL (and thus, I doubt the game hurts him much in the Draft).  However, don't let these actions allow us to "Corey Jackson" this game -- Jackson did it in a 42-point rout giving us all a little more room to focus on the his actions.

This was a great football game first, with a couple antics mixed in throughout.  Let's try to keep it that way for history's sake.

Frank- ill tell you what- if you want to put garcons antics aside- put drummerboys also.

both are moot

FA91 -

Aside from the call of the SJF/MUC game and a couple posts explaining the circumstances here, I kept pretty quiet on Jackson's issues -- focusing instead on the team's response on the sidelines and suggesting a good way to react on the part of Coach V.  I only bring it up here because Garcon/Kehres have been equated to Jackson in terms of their actions and a lot of venom has been posted regarding all three, while we ignore the gameplay itself.

So, I agree with you about Jackson -- I just can understand a little better why the discussion that followed SJF/MUC was centered around that more than I can in a close and exciting game like Saterday's.  That was my point.
