I think Fox is a little too young and inexperienced for the job personally, he just stopped playing football for Fisher 3 seasons ago....

Generally, you need assistants to bring some fresh ideas for the Head Coach to consider so things don't get stale.

Here's a fresh idea:  TACKLE NATE KMIC!  Watching him rush for 9 yds a carry against us is getting "stale".

Can't get much worse than the last 2 defensive performances vs. Kmic w/ the old D-Coordinator. I say hire the kid, shake it up a little.

Hi-larious.  +k.

Deep in the bowels of Gaetano Stadium Faggiano is lurking as a "guest" and thinking to himself "Tackle him.  Dammit.  Why didn't I think of that?"

Big E8 Football News on the potential replacement for Norwich:

EMPIRE 8 ANNOUNCES FOOTBALL AFFILIATE DECISION
Qualifying Public Institutions May Apply for Affiliate Membership

ROCHESTER, NY – The Empire 8 has announced its recent decision by the Presidents Council to allow qualifying New York State public institutions and public institutions contiguous to New York State to apply for membership as an affiliate in football.
"The Empire 8 is one of the premier Division III athletic conferences in America," said Dr. Charles Edmondson, Empire 8 and Alfred University President.  "By potentially expanding our football affiliates, we will be able to sustain that status, enhance the quality of competition, and contain the costs of long-distance travel."
In football, the conference currently consists of full-time members Alfred University, Hartwick College, Ithaca College, St. John Fisher College, and Utica College, and affiliates Norwich University and Springfield College.  Norwich will no longer be a part of the conference after the 2008 season.
In six seasons, the Empire 8 has recorded 17 postseason victories with six of the seven teams playing in at least one postseason game during that time.  St. John Fisher advanced to the regional final this year and made it to the NCAA Division III Final Four the previous season.  Three Empire 8 teams (Hartwick and Ithaca joined the Cardinals) were selected to play in this year's national championship, while Alfred captured its fourth consecutive ECAC bowl title.  The teams posted a 23-11 record out of conference with each team finishing .500 or better outside of the conference schedule.
"This decision has the potential to enhance our football conference and position us for a very stable long-term future," said Empire 8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano.  "It can also potentially enhance our relationships with public institutions in our area and communities."

It seems that AU has come down from their ivory tower and is now willing to slum it with the SUNY schools.  I can forsee a day when Springfield jumps ship for the NAC and the E8 actually has 8 NY teams for football.  I literally live across the street from Charlie Edmonson, so maybe I'll have to walk over and thank him for compromising the school's principles in order to keep the E8 intact.

Which definition of CONTIGUOUS are they using. Next too or Near??? Delaware and Maryland are "NEAR" NY.. Just a thought. Though St John Fisher and Ithaca both turned down Wesley as an opponent
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

Bravo for the E8!!!!

SUNY Morrisville perhaps? They're IND.
Yes.  I understand that they were in discussions with the NJAC while they were going thru the provisional process, and would be accepted as an affiliate member when they were in the third year of provisional status, when games against them would count.

I think they're heading into their 3rd season this year?
Yes.  They will find out if they are moved to Year 3 this summer.

Wow.  I would see Cortland and Brockport as the easy #1 and #2.  Then Buff St. at a distant #3.

superman57

IMO, clearly you have to put Cortland as #1 and it has to make sense if you are Cortland because now the biggest game of the year could be for the conference title and you have to save money, time and energy not driving to tha dirty j 4 weekends a year

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

My dream is now to get Alfred State up to D3 and join the E8 as an affiliate member.  That won't happen unless the percentage of 4-year students increases to at least 50% (from 20% currently) since the 2-year students wouldn't be eligible to play.  That would be the best rivalry between the schools since the annual snowball fight was outlawed back in the 70s!

an implicit admission that Fisher has not convinced you that they are here to stay?

superman57

just trying to be a realist...No one can be as amazing as fisher is every year...
