Pep's Bandwagon comes equipped with a nifty electronic compass that not only gives direction and temperature but also a "Distance Til Empty" (DTE) reading. Pep lives on the edge...he waits til the DTE reads 10 or less to gas up...but filling it up is close to $70 now. Yikes!

caz -- point taken.
i think that it would be great for Cortland to join the E8.
Top to bottom a great league.
It really is a double edged sword about the out of conference games...

Pat if you are reading this, you should take a look at d3jobs.com, there are a couple of job postings from Drew University, talking about midevil jousting and trimming mustaches.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Supes, if you want to get my attention, use an e-mail or report to moderator. I don't read every board every hour.

I see Cortland and Cortland only joining the E8.  Cortland has some amazing facilities for football (and athletics) and the school itself is pretty decent as well.  Its clear that the SUNY people wanted Cortland to be the showcase for d3 athletics for that system.

In the month of May the VFW distributes Buddy Poppies.  Please take time to give a dollar and take a poppy.  The proceeds of this go to aid the Disabled Vets

In Flander's Field
by John McCrae
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead.
Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie,
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw,
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us, who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders Fields.

+K KS....a poem that is often read at Alfred Rural Cemetery during our annual Memorial Day service. Pep remembers as a Cub Scout lad marching in a solemn parade into the cemetery where the Memorial Day service was held every year. About ten years ago, Pep, realizing nothing was done anymore to help us "remember," invited the community to gather at the cemetery flagpole and a number of folks contributed to a memorable service including "Taps" played by an Alfred prof who had annually (many times in solitude) continued a tradition of playing the piece on Memorial Day.

Pep is pleased to report that a Memorial Day service has been held every year since with anywhere from 75 to 200 citizens in attendance....and recitation of Flanders Field is often included.

That is why I post things like this for Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Pearl Harbor Day.  Most of America does not realize the signifigance (sp) of Memorial Day anymore, they think it is about BBQ's the beach, parties and sales.

Memorial Day is the day we should all take the time to remember those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and it is the duty of every American to remember them.  It doesn't take much, attend a memorial day event or service.  Take a minute to say a small prayer to yourself thanking our young men and women who have died so we can enjoy our freedom.
