You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Pep apologizes for making fellow posters a bit uncomfortable with his most recent post. Will be happy to delete if that would make everyone feel better.    :-\

Ah.
Pep- i tip my hat to you on that one.

Though i still give myself a pat on the back for not only making 5 games last year--but keeping Mrs. Alum happy as well!

In all actuality, the 2007 season offered, excepting Norwich, reasonable road trips. There was the opener at Thiel, a 3.5 hour drive (200 miles one-way) with THREE vehicles and 12 Hot Peppers making the trip. Then there was the brutal 7.5 hour (420 miles one-way) trip to Northfield, VT when the four-piece band (which spent a night in an EconoLodge at Lake George) took out a 50-piece military marching band....and we didn't even bring our cannon.

Then there was Hobart (1.5 hours, 70 miles); Ithaca (2 hours, 98 miles); and St. John Fisher (1.5 hours, 80 miles).

So, total driving time for five pep band road trips in 2007 was 32 hours. But 2008, with road trips to St. Lawrence (5 hours), Springfield (6 hours), Hartwick (3 hours), Utica (3.5 hours) and Rochester (1.5 hours) could amount to 38 hours.

Whereas, if FA91 made five round trips of 8 hours each, he was on the road 40 hours in following the Cardinals.

Pep kept Mrs. Pep happy as well, because, at the time, Mrs. Pep was just happy to have Pep out of the house!   :-*

Pep.. i'll meet ya in Utica this fall... hopefully. Still trying to figure out a good schedule that won't cost an arm or leg and one that lets me see as many teams as possible.

fisheralum91

Dew- i will be at the UC Fisher game in Utica- hope to see ya there!!

dc88--Pep is always happy to meet fellow posters at the games and to have faces associated with posting names. You're in the Capital Region, right? It's got to be tough, as a "d3football regional reporter," to try to catch as many teams as you can. Pep suggests the dew take advantage of any night games to work in a "doubleheader" i.e. Sept. 20 with Hartwick at Ithaca at 1 p.m. followed by the Courage Bowl (Fisher at Rochester) at 7 p.m.

Pep wishes AU would go back to a few early season night games. The Mayberry "night life" certainly has little to compete with a Saturday night at Merrill Field. Of course, with its Seventh Day Baptist roots (Sabbath observance from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday), Alfred University played home games on Saturday nights out of deference to the faithful and their heritage. AU had arguably the first permanently lighted football field in the country. Today, however, it makes for a late night trip home for the visitors unless it's an area opponent.

Alright, the football mags are hitting the stands. Congrats to AU tailback Vinson Hendrix upon being selected to the second team of Lindy's D3 Pre-Season All-American College Football Team. Hard to believe the kid gets that kind of accolades when Pep beat him in a sprint race after spring season training in 2007. The kid is way overrated. Heck, Pep figures Pep himself should be first team if they make Hendrix second team!

Time to stir up the Fisher posters with Pep's E8 Pre-Season Pigskin Prognostications. After the Bombers, a solid pick for first place, it will be a brawl. With coaching changes, changes in key positions, there are plenty of untested personnel who will have big roles in the results. Nevertheless, here's how they'll finish in 2008:

1- Ithaca
2- Alfred
3- St. John Fisher
3- Hartwick
4- Springfield
5- Utica
6- Norwich

Pep,
No real argument with the prediction as you are right in the fact that Fisher has many holes to fill and many question marks.  Tho i will say this---with the schedule the way it is for fisher this year---it could be a 6-4 season easily.
We will just have to wait and see- and that is the fun of it!
Hopefully Coach Vos has loaded for bear and has talented incoming transfers and freshman to step up.

I brought some delicious karma to the board. I made it myself.

Well, not from scratch, from a box, but I baked it.

Actually my mom did all the baking, but I got to lick the batter off the mixer

haha good stuff supes, and very true.  -k to you good sir.  +k to 'gro, always enjoy when you show up.

Pep, in regards to your prediction I would probably rank Springfield towards the top since they have shown the ability to quickly rebound from a poor year.  I could see Fisher finishing in the top spot, and I can see them finishing as low as 4th.  So many question marks that need to be answered, although I'm not sure Fisher's first week matchup will be a good indicator for the rest of their season.  Didn't Alfred lose some key players as well? Most notably their quarterback, but how many other starters did they lose from last year?
