Booby:     Oh yeah, AU graduated some good ones. Aside from record-breaking QB Paul "Fisher Reject" Keeley, we lose DT Don "Miller Time" Miller who was also our short yardage RB...Center Mike Callahan, OLers Hanft and Caston, TE Matt Gibbins, Kicker Chris "It's Up, It's Good, It's" Reynolds, DB/Punter Josh Rammacher, DT Mike Penkin, and DB Dan Medlock along with some solid back-ups.

Word is there will be more than 100 freshman recruits in pre-season camp. Add to that the 150+ returners...Pep thinks there will be some good ones to fill the shoes. At least Pep likes the chances.

Pep is also optimistic that the band has some good freshman prospects to fill out the brass section....another good trombone and perhaps a sousaphone(?) Band Camp is scheduled for Aug. 30. Which reminds me of this one time at band camp....

pep, you keep bragging about the 100 plus recruits, but my guess would be Fisher routinely brings in 100 plus hs football players... now there are the Paul Keely's of the world and there are the waterboy's, Alfred will be lucky if 15 of those 100 players are actually any good, and if 40 of those 100 ever take the field I would be shocked... my freshman year roomate along with several other people that I knew were "recruits" but they all decided to not play in college...

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

dang LL board has been locked thanks to the crossfire crew discussin' politics...  Gro wishes for the old days of football, thongs, and poop jokes.

So... E8 board... do you guys like.... stuff?

I go to work and miss everything!

Yeah, 100 recruits not uncommon at the private schools in this region.  All the football team cares about is the 100 tuition checks that they are giving the school, that means in return the teams can get some guys in that normally wouldnt make it through admissions.

In other news:

Upstates E8 preseason prediction:

1a) SJF
1b) Ithaca
3) Alfred
4) Springfield
5) Hartwick
6) Utica
7) Norwich

SJF will lose a game it shouldnt for the 5th year in a row to prevent them from securing the outright E8 championship but SJF gets the auto because of the head-to-head tiebreaker over IC...

I'm not sure about fisher this year...they have a very tough schedule... and in my mind they will need to win the confernce to go to the NCAA's

in other news Fisher added women's golf...which in my mind means that we could see another men's sport added...getting some more athletes on campus is never a bad thing...

Upstate for the love of God do tell more....

The LB from West Virginia....was he actually on the team even in a practice squad environment or was he enrolled there just to go there for academic purposes and never had anything to do with the team at all haha.  Where did you get this information?

Pat Coleman

Or was he just from the state and played for Salem International or Bethany or something? :)

my guess is the WV guys was probaly a walk-on... but the Cornell QB intrests me...and if it is true could be some good news as QB is a big question mark for fisher.... Running back I'm not too worried about because they always find someone to carry the ball, and while they might not be all-american's they will most likely gain 1000 yards behind that line...and they are making fox's first season easy as they return a large part of that defense...

Still trying to find out some info on the LBer, but the QB transfer from Cornell is Robbie Brown (6'1", 205) from Webster Thomas High School.  Not sure if he redshirted last year or not, but he was listed as a freshman on Cornell's website last season.  Robbie Brown was a former All State QB at Webster Thomas in 2006 as well as 1st team all-county, 1st team all-greater Rochester.

Scouts Inc. write up as follows:
Brown is a gutsy, tough competitor with average size and arm strength, but he plays with moxie and has a swagger about him. While he lacks elite tools, he is very accurate, shows excellent touch and timing and is a good athlete. Works mostly out of the shotgun and works the read-option very well. Can buy second chances and can make some plays with his legs. Is at his best as a short-to-intermediate passer. Shows the ability to drop the ball between the linebackers and safeties on seam routes. Is balanced and set in the pocket, hits his plant foot and delivers. Shows great touch on the deep ball. However, Brown must improve mechanics and throwing motion. He cocks and winds up during his delivery. Elbow gets lower the more he tries to get something on it. Lacks velocity on throws he really needs zip on. Size is marginal. You like his style of play, but upside is probably better suited for the Division I-AA level.

Gosh, then Paul Keeley was one of the 60 of 100 freshmen at Fisher who never took the field....  ???

Exactly, listen I will give Paul a hard time when I am at a game, because guess what, the job of a hardcore fan is to get into the heads of the other team... and you know what, obviously the fisher reject chants got into your head... It was nothing personal, Paul saw that there was another kid who was ahead of him, he wasn't happy, so he did something about it... good for him, but as you see 100 recruits is nothing

OK - checking in after an off-season away....figured July 1 is here and football is coming soon.

Any info out of Bomber land?  Is Bostic really not playing?  As Q said, it seems like a crazy time to not play now...he'd be the go-to guy at this point, and playing didn't hurt his Hoops season last year.

Thats all I got for now, hope everyone has a great 4th weekend...camp's only a month and a half away.

fisheralum91

Wow- im pleased to hear that Fisher will have some options at QB.
Now if we can shore up some key losses to graduation- this season may actually be a good one---minus the fact that they have one hell of a crappy sched!
