Wow- im pleased to hear that Fisher will have some options at QB.
Now if we can shore up some key losses to graduation- this season may actually be a good one---minus the fact that they have one hell of a crappy sched!

Other than Mt Union, I think the schedule is pretty favorable considering that IC, Wick, Salisbury and Springfield all have to play at Growney...

9/6 @ Mount Union College:  Not being a pessimist but its Mt Union for gods sakes
9/13 vs Buffalo State:  They are getting better, but they are not there yet
9/20 @University of Rochester:  Always a tough one no matter how bad they are
9/27 vs Ithaca College:  Hosting IC is a good thing, they havent won there since 02.
10/4 vs Hartwick College:  Wick sucks on the road, ask Curry
10/11 vs Salisbury University:  They are traveling to Roch so that may help
10/18 @ Norwich University:  Cadets hit hard but thats about it
10/25 vs Springfield College: The Pride is traveling with no Sharpe
11/1 @ Utica College:  Could be a tight one with Faggiano at the helm of UC
11/15 @ Alfred University:  Havent lost there since 2000.  No Keeley = No Chance for AU

9-1 or 8-2 depending on the Salisbury game...

But Upstate you aren't taking into account that key game Fisher will lose so they won't get an outright conference title....Who do you think it will be??

Also, very cool about the QB.  I like that he can run as well as throw, love when the defense has to account for that...It's glorious.

Still awaiting more details on the Linebacker and the other 2 or 3 Division 1/1AA recruits Robby was talking about...

Still trying to find out some info on the LBer, but the QB transfer from Cornell is Robbie Brown (6'1", 205) from Webster Thomas High School.  Not sure if he redshirted last year or not, but he was listed as a freshman on Cornell's website last season.  Robbie Brown was a former All State QB at Webster Thomas in 2006 as well as 1st team all-county, 1st team all-greater Rochester.

Scouts Inc. write up as follows:
Brown is a gutsy, tough competitor with average size and arm strength, but he plays with moxie and has a swagger about him. While he lacks elite tools, he is very accurate, shows excellent touch and timing and is a good athlete. Works mostly out of the shotgun and works the read-option very well. Can buy second chances and can make some plays with his legs. Is at his best as a short-to-intermediate passer. Shows the ability to drop the ball between the linebackers and safeties on seam routes. Is balanced and set in the pocket, hits his plant foot and delivers. Shows great touch on the deep ball. However, Brown must improve mechanics and throwing motion. He cocks and winds up during his delivery. Elbow gets lower the more he tries to get something on it. Lacks velocity on throws he really needs zip on. Size is marginal. You like his style of play, but upside is probably better suited for the Division I-AA level.

I should of bolded these points earlier, but it was mad early in the morning...

In regards to the bolded parts:
SJF uses a ton of shotgun/read plays in their offense, more now than when I was playing.  Also they love to run the seam pattern vs man coverage or when faced with a blitz and the recievers run up the seams and the QB just picks the best match up.

Im not annointing him as the starter, considering Kevin Eick is back as a 5th year player to compete with Tommy Hammel and this kid for the starting job.  Hammel and the transfer are players that like to run and make plays while Eick is a pocket passer.  It will be interesting to see who gets the nod...

Its this kind of talk that ruins division 3 football for me.

now that is a good, challenging schedule.  even at 8-2, if the 2 losses were to strong teams (aka don't drop one to Norwich), would still leave them in the playoff hunt.

I just dont like seeing d3 as a dumping ground for d2, d1aa or d1 players.  Im getting the feeling that some players are making d3 a national transfer ground to get to the next level if they arent able to make it at the place they first started.  That makes that second school just a place where they ended up to play football.  I mean people make mistakes and have the right to change schools dont get me wrong, but I think d3 schools are places where you go because you really like that school.  The whole Garcon thing kind of bugged me, and I just think d3 needs some stricter transfer rules

pbr see's your point JU just that pbr thinks it needs to be on a case by case basis which in reality you cant do...for example psu had a top notch recruit from cali several years ago his mother was diagnosed w/ cancer(if memory serves me correctly) so he didnt want to sit out so he transfered to a d3 school in cali so he could play right away. point is you cant fault a kid for that and there are numerous stories like this one and makes it tough to draw a line in the sand....

Yea it would be too hard to regulate.  If you want to go to your home school because of family reasons that of course is fine.  But the whole transfer down just because you were a backup at your other school bothers me.

JQV

I mentioned this before JU somewhere but, in my limited experience, it seems the kids that transfer from D1 or D2 to D3 should never have been at those bigger programs in the first place.  While the occassional school collects high-level backups to start at D3, the majority of these kids were just never good enough to go where they went, realized that, and headed back to a more appropriate level of competition.

superman57

JU in my opinion there is a difference, between the Pierre Garcon's of the world who go laterally, for a program just to win, and guys like a Paul Keely who was not going to get any playing time, or Robbie Brown who went to Cornell, probably was overwhelmed by the mix of the tough academics and playing dIa football...
