2008 LL vs E8

Here are the LL/E8 matchups for this season

Sept. 13
Norwich @ St. Lawrence
Union @ Springfield

Sept. 20
Fisher @ Rochester
RPI @ Utica
Alfred @ St. Lawrence

Nov. 1
Alfred @ Rochester

most interesting matchups are union/sc (which team will show up) and Alfred Rochester late in the season.

Nice, here is how I predict it will turn out.

Sept. 13
Norwich @ St. Lawrence - St. Lawrence
Union @ Springfield - Springfield (I just have a theory they will be good this year)

Sept. 20
Fisher @ Rochester - Fisher (homer what?)
RPI @ Utica - RPI
Alfred@ St. Lawrence - Alfred

November 1
Alfred @ Rochester- Rochester (These two teams are getting to know each other very well the past few years)

Overall....

Empire 8 - Three glorious and well deserved victories
LL - Three cheap and soiled "victories"

The Empire 8 and LL will once again be evenly matched and singing together in harmony....

booby- that rochester game gives me the willies!
i saw my first courage bowl game last year and ill tell you that game can go either way----in any given year...
that being said---me thinks you are correct--fisher wins

boobyhasgameyo

Yeah they can be some competitive games, but Fisher manages to find a way to put it away before there is serious cause for concern.  Though if Fisher stumbles out of the gate to start the season, will that cause some deflation in the teams spirit? Combine that with the possibility of U of R starting out their season strong, would they then feel like the favorites and come out playing confidently and with great momentum?

I mean because we all know what they say about momentum, it's only as good as the next day's starting pitcher.....

wait what?

I think SJF has one of the toughest schedules in the country.  MUC, Salisbury as out of conference games is just crazy.  They are setting up a guantlet that is going to be quite the challenge.  I talked to a couple of guys on D and there will be some interesting changes and wrinkles to the Defense.  With the best D-line the school has probably ever had they are going to be a force with Pollock/Boone at Ends and Beckton/Wood at tackles gives them an opportunity to do things they havent done before.

Boobs, this will be the first year since 2002 that SJF wont have an undefeated record going into the UR game....

Or maybe they will...

How do you figure? Pyz & Becton up the middle, with Maggio & Pollock on the ends is just as talented a line up if you ask me. They need to find a corner to replace Stepnick - LB's will be good.

Good timing for SJF with Mount graduating all 5 O-linemen as well as most of the back-ups.

MTU is going to be very young this season.  The last time they returned so little was 1994.  The offense returns only QB Greg Micheli, TB Nate Kmic and TE Chad Reynolds.  The defense returns only DE Joseph Millings and CB Daryl Ely.

If anyone is going to beat Mount in the regular season, it's going to be in the first few weeks.  The depth and talent is there to reload, the question is how quickly all the new starters can jell.  Specifically the O-line.

Personally, I'm very excited to see SJF come to Alliance to open the season.  It's a team that Mount knows will be very tough and therefore will have their complete attention during preseason camp.  Opening with SJF is a million times better than Allegheny, Averett, Washington, etc.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

It'll be more competitive if Kmic doesn't get off for 300 yards again.

A very nice test for Fisher right out of the gates.

Pep was talking with a Raider at Kings Island, a defensive lineman from Zanesville, OH, asking if he were ready for St. John Fisher. He said they have a powerful offense returning but most of the defense had graduated so they would be young on that side of the ball.

If the Fisher defense is as advertised (and if someone can fill Stepnick's shoes) and the offense reloads as expected, Pep knows it will be tough but the Cards' visit to Alliance for the "third time is a charm."

The Mt. Union kid spoke very highly of the Ithaca squad that gave them fits last year. Pep told him the Bombers had improved steadily with each game last season and were solid.

Pep, in his travels last week, stopped for gas just east of Cincinnati. Seemed a bunch of football players were holding a car wash fundraiser across the street at a Wendy's. Pep Jr. wanted something from Wendy's, so Pep had the bandwagon washed by three Western Brown Broncos. Spoke with one of them about Alfred... he inquired whether Alfred was in the same conference as St. John Fisher. Seems he had received letters from both schools. Pep explained his involvement with the AU pep band that plays at the football games and asked that he consider a visit to the Alfred campus, since Pep had personally paid him a visit, albeit for him to wash the bandwagon!

D3 football is everywhere Pep goes....

Becton and Pollock were sophmores then, just because they were there 2 seasons ago doesnt mean that they are the sam players.   Those two as seniors will have much bigger impacts this year than they did as sophmores.  Becton, when healthy, is unblockable and Pollock is 13 sacks away from the career record.  Pollock will be a terror this year with Boone opposite him, who is just as good if not better than Maggio.  Boon has got a good frame and is a typical strong side DE at 6'0" 250lbs, he only played in 9 games last year but played well in the run game.  Pyz was a big strong kid who played the run well but was stiff, they'll have more athleticism out of the 3 technique this year.

Besides the 2003 team had the best D-line up to now with Keem, Luce, Fisher and Jones but this years D-line will be better than any the Cardinals have produced.

Hey Tags...if you're gonna be in the Houston area and ever get down Corpus Christi way, do me a favor and visit the unincorporated hamlet of Alfred, Texas. It's just south of I-37 west of Corpus Christi.

Pep went out of his way Saturday, after finding an Alfred in Ohio on the atlas, to visit the place. It made Alfred, NY look like Manhattan. Ten to twelve houses, two long-abandoned gas stations...but there were signs of life! Pep crashed a baby shower at the only community building he saw, the Alfred United Methodist Church.

Pep has since learned there are Alfreds in North Dakota and Texas, as well as the already-visited Alfred, ME.

Good stories Pep.  When I was vacationing with the family at Disney in florida Mrs. Upstate and I counted over 30 Division III Football related articles of clothing.  School's, included: Wabash, Utica, Salisbury, Ohio Northern and even the MOUNT.  Mount Ida that is...
