I can't remember what game it was but I remember Kramer scrambling on a play...and I almost died laughing... The only thing I worry about the RB from Mohon...is section II is not known for it's stellar players...and there are really a only a couple of REALLY strong teams... IE Lansingburgh, Amsterdam, Shenedahowa, Saratoga...and a couple of others that I am sure I am missing

The gut, and the pigeon toe aside, I remember him running for a 30+ yard TD against IC last year. Fast enough for me...

Hey guys.  Glad to see everybody is back.

I think our chances are fairly good going into Mount.  They lost alot from last season and I think SJF will capitalize on that.  Rob Brown will start at QB and should be very effective at the D3 level.  I saw him play alot in highschool for Webster Thomas and he was the real deal.  Recruited by alot of 1-AA schools.  O-Line should be very solid once again, and Smith and Marion are a solid tandem at WR.  Our defense will be strong against the run, and hopefully we can replace Stepnick and Miranto effectively.  I  would think Bostic and Ahmed will be the starters at CB.

Is Brown a freshman this year, or a transfer? Sounds good from what you say, but any more information out there? I am also very interested in the ability to run the ball? Any info on the RB situation besides what has been said recently?

Sounds good--though i would hope that the new qb has the blazing speed that Kramer had  ;D  Just kidding-

Seriously I must have just missed this factor about Kramer completely.  I know he didn't look the part of a Quarterback with the gut but I didn't think mobility was an issue at all with him.  He had average speed, wasn't like Drew Bledsoe back there.  He moved when he had to.

Im not sure if you noticed but the Coaching staff had added extra encentive in a deal with Kramer, for every TD that the offense scored Kramer would recieve a McDonalds bag filled with cheeseburgers and fries.  If they only got a FG he would get a chocolate shake.

Pep thought the TD deal included a visit to the McDonald's Playland....  ;)

Congratulations to RB Vinson Hendrix of Alfred, WR Jack Phelan of Hartwick for being selected to D3Football.com Pre-season All-Americans (First Team) and TE Brian Weverbergh of Ithaca (Second Team).

Pep can attest to Hendrix being a fine young man, as Hendrix accompanied Pep with the AU Habitat campus chapter to Florida to build a house during Spring Break. Phelan, Pep believes, was at Alfred for a year but was looking for hillier terrain and found that on the Hartwick campus.

Why has this board been unaccosted today? Was it something Pep said?

Well that's sad....First time no pre-season all Americans from Fisher since 2003 I believe.  It feels so empty and cold.

Congrats to those 3, all of them are pretty darn good...

Got a sneak peak of the transfer from WVU that will be playing OLB for SJF.  He is about 225-230lbs of solid muscle, extremely athletic and fast.  There is also some talk of of other transfers from UB, a prep school in maine and a D2 school in Tennessee that will see time this year...

Nice, well his extreme athleticism and speed will be tested right off the bat against Kmic who just loves rounding that corner and just taking off.  Any of these transfers a DB by any chance?  The secondary seems like it will be a question mark with Stepnick gone.  I think Ahmed is returning and he is decent, but definitely a downgrade from Steve.

-Kmic:
What killed them is his cutbacks, yes he was good off tackle but he KILLED the D with his cutback ability.  Instead of filling/controlling their gaps they went for the ball and he made them pay by cutting it back and breaking long runs.

-Secondary:
Bostic and Ahmed are the front runners to start at CB.  They are both lightning quick and have good ball skills the downside is that they are both in the 5-7 170lb range.  They dont have the physical presence that Stepnick and Miranto had vs the run but they are both pretty good in coverage.

That is great to hear. So from what I see here Fisher has a transfer from WVU and Miami of Ohio, also UB and a D2 school. It all sounds good to me. Hopefully they all pan out. The skill positions are what scare me. The O-line and D-line are usually solid at Fisher, as well as returning 9 starters on D. Stepnick is a big loss, but I think the D will be okay. Especially if they add a real big athletic OLB. The question is RB and QB to me. The early reports sound somewhat promising, but we just don't know what we will see.

Pep would like to apologize for his previously stating that AU was bringing in 100+ freshmen recruits. Pep stands corrected, as revealed in this release from AU:

Secky is likely brother of Randall Secky, who played QB at U. Buffalo. They have a younger brother, Chris, who had a big part in Maple Grove's state basketball title, despite brother Tom being named MVP of the title game.

Pep is under the impression that Senior Matt Eisenhauer emerged as starting QB during spring training. He will be pushed by Secky but also in the mix will be another frosh T.J. Kilcarr from Clarkstown (NY) South, plus there's Josh Shoemaker, last season's back-up to Keeley.

Can't wait 'til Kick-off 2008!

Got to love New York high school football, where the "3rd best Quarterback recruit in the state" goes D3.  I'm willing to bet that's not the case in Florida, California, Texas, Ohio, etc.

Pep just got the oil changed on the bandwagon. Next oil change is due at 301,000+ miles. Pep also got the radiator fan fixed and put a couple of "used tires" on the back. Plus, a Pioneer CD player (given to Pep by a bus driver friend) has been installed, replacing the Chrysler Infinity tape player...and two sets of Kenwood speakers have been ordered.

Pep's cousin/mechanic insists that Pep should have ditched the vehicle years ago. "Think of all the money you'd have saved and you could have been driving a nice vehicle."

Pep purchased the one-owner 1992 Grand Caravan (on-line) from a family from Sioux Falls, IA on Sept. 1, 2001 when it had 137,000 miles....barely broken in. En route back to Mayberry, Pep enjoyed a tour of Notre Dame Stadium, including the lockerroom, the entry tunnel to the field and heard a crowd chanting his name...a "Rudy" experience. The bandwagon has faithfully delivered Pep (and many times the band) to 64 AU football games.

With vacation here, Pep is taking Mrs. Pep in the bandwagon to Rhode Island for some sun and sand, relatives and a stop at SpiedieFest in Binghamton en route home...but first Pep is off to HarborFest in Oswego this weekend.

The bandwagon's vacation travels are a tune-up for football season!

Max drops in to share an anecdote...

Out here at UC San Diego I picked up an unenviable part-time summer job with the department updating the alumni database. Basically I google people's names and try to find out what they do. I came across an unnamed alumni that now is a professor at hated Cortland.... suffice it to say the "notes" part of his alumni file now reads:

"Cortland Sucks. Go Bombers."
