Booby you are so touchy.

I have pointed out in the past, and am pointing out again, that Fisher has yet to prove an ability to maintain their current status.

How does one prove that which cannot yet exist...the future.  You are suggesting that because they have not won for some undetermined number of consecutive years that they do not have staying power.  Well I guess you need to define how many years is staying power, because it has been 49-13 with 5 straight play-off years since 2003...

I have not suggested they don't have staying power, I have merely pointed out that it is too soon to tell.  You have inferred, due to some inferiority complex, that I have made such a suggestion.

Five years is not enough.  I am not going to find my original post but, I think when we were debating this extensively, that I was arguing that you have to turn over your entire roster three or four times before you can argue that you are a permanent force.

I have a conference call starting in about a half hour that should give me more time to elaborate.

Hypothetical LL/E8 matchups...

1. RPI/Hartwick - at Hartwick: RPI by 14, at RPI: RPI by 45
2. Hobart/Fisher - Hobart's tough, but Fisher is tougher right now
3. Union/Ithaca - Guys with old balls talk about the stagg bowl while the youngin's settle it on the field. Great playoff game in '05, Ithaca wins this one.
4. Rochester/Alfred - Rochester can only beat RPI. 'freds win.
5. St. Lawrence/Springfield - springfield smacks sorry saints silly
6. WPI/Utica - A poor man's RPI/Wick, tech school still wins
7. Susquehanna/Norwich - zzzzzzzzzzzzzz, huh? what? Uh... susquehanna by 1.

These matchups don't favor the LL at all... good thing its all a pipedream.

Old Balls??  Old Balls??  U89 resembles that statement......Que, Springsteen's, "Glory Days"........

Heres JU and U89 in the parking lot after the 2051 Ithaca/Union game........

You are correct...you did not SUGGEST that SJF does not have staying power...you actually affirmatively stated such.   You stated "Fisher has yet to prove an ability to maintain their current status"

I would swap Hobart and UofR... might as well keep natural rivals... I also would love to see an RPI-Ithaca rematch...

It's based off 2007 standings (1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, etc.), but who wouldn't want to see RPI slap the Bombers upside the head, this time at Buttersquashfield?

Jose is right on with the $$.

As for the academic requirments, Ive heard different stories.  Today, all schools are scraping for students for the general popluation.  I think it is easier to get into all schools today than it was 10-20 years ago in many cases.  That does not mean it is easier for football players or athletes to get into schools though.  So it kind of goes both ways.

I went to high school with 3 kids that didnt get into Ithaca and I was shocked.  And they were good students (better than me in one case) and good athletes.  They ended up going to Hobart, Ohio Weslyan, and Bentley.  3 schools that were ranked near or even above Ithaca.  Then there is of course the kid whos parents have the money to drop 45K in cash every Sept.  It makes you wonder if those kids get treatment.

Another thing I have noticed with the rosters is the area where the players are from.  I only see 3 players on last years IC roster from power NE prep schools or upstate private schools (McQuaid, Choate and Bridgeton).  In the 1980s and early 1990s, 25% of ICs roster came from a NE prep school or private school.  If you look at the Hobart and Union rosters, a good 25% come from those NE prep schools that have good football programs and are good schools.

I always thought Ithaca has that advantage over schools like Cortland and SJF that are more regional.

The last 5 years for most colleges has been equivalent to the great depression.  Most are starting to take a large hit in their endowments just to stay afloat.

I think what has hurt IC the most is academics and the want for Ithaca to become less of a party school.  I saw the turn of IC in my 4 year experience.  It went from large block parties on Penn & behind the circles, plus the original Fountain Day, to the circles being bought and campus security doubling in size.  Off campus parties being shut down.  the South Hill community being formed and $1000 fines to any student holding a party in a house off campus.  Not to mention the "homeland security act of Ithaca" where a neighbor can call and complain about noise and the cops have free reign to charge into a house if they suspect there is a party.

How has the FDC survived??!

Speaking of the FDC, Lady Dubbz asked Dubbz if he was retiring from the "shenanegans" this year.

Dubbz sighed and thought 7 years was a good run.

That right there, among other things, is the difference between yankee women and girls in dixie.  When I got home from work the other day Mrs.JQV was busily trying to figure out a way to sew a coozie onto the front of our Baby Bjorn carrier so we could bring our two month old to Gator tailgates and have a place to hold beer...

Does Mrs. JQV offer lessons or classes?

It is more like a lifetime of practice.  Not sure if it could be encapsulated into a class...

I will inquire though.
