It's been a long time since I've been to an AHS game.  Would you recommend catching one , Supe?  Have thought about it for a couple of years but never seemed to find the time.  Thoughts?

From what i've heard it was a pretty close race, and they had several guys that were playing pretty well. I heard Bailey lit up the scrimmage, hence gets the starting nod. He has a good arm, pretty bright kid. He only played JV last year, and I haven't seen him this year yet so I really don't know how much he has progressed. Pretty mobile. He'll be good, just young.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

At least they scheduled some competitive, to say the least, games on their schedule instead of Fordham and Ursinus...

Ha ha....AU played Fordham back in 1971. The Saxons eased to a 33-0 lead at Coffey Field in the Bronx early in the second half, then the Rams put in a freshman QB against AU's second stringers (AU was not a deep team in the 70s) and lo, and behold, AU had to block an extra point attempt to prevent the Rams from taking a 34-33 lead late in the game....then the Saxons got a TD pass to take a 40-33 lead, adding a safety at game's end to bring to conclusion a nightmarish second half and retain AU's undefeated slate, 42-33.

Ursinus of the Centennial Conference had a decent season in 2007, going 7-3, a good follow-up to an 8-3 campaign in 2006. Not a power like Mt. Ida or King's, but a decent non-league opener for the Saxons.

And as for Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham, according to their website, "FDU is a competitive academic university that competes in the toughest division III football conference in the nation ,the Middle Atlantic Conference." Actually a nice opponent so as to get the Saxons in the Metro NY area next year for all the alumni there, much like AU had lots of fans at Coffey Field in the Bronx in 1971.

Mt. Ida's and SJF's contract was signed when Mt. Ida was just starting football and SJF wasnt very good.  Kings was coming off 4 years of 7 or more wins and 4 straight postseason appearances.

Go schedule a public school and then try to bring up schedules...

Dew, in your 10 games to watch... what about Fisher-Salisbury...

I felt like I had too many Fisher games on the list... Tried to give more teams a look.

If you do, make it Amsterdam vs. Gloversville. The Huskies are my HS team.

Harmon, how is med school??  Also, the Red Raiders open season this weekend.  I hear they are looking really strong, new Offensive Coordinator this year...Amorese took the head coaching job at York, so now they got Chris Cappotelli calling the plays.  Jeremy Wilson and Dave Fox (yes Mike Fox's little brother Fisher guys) are the players to watch this year.  I wonder how many more years Coach M will stay.  Anyways, good to see another Red Raider on these message boards.

Who doesnt love a self depricating pride fan?  +K to all for one of the funnier posts in a while...

In football related news what should SJF fans think of the new QB?  Should we be worried that 2 seniors and a 1-aa transfer didnt win the job or should we be impressed that a sophmore who only saw time on JV last beat them out?

I have tickets but am not sure whether I will go or not.  A kid from my high school is making his debut as UM's QB which could make things interesting.

In related news, JoseQ's alma mater plays on ESPN Friday night.  Check it out...
