Yeah I'm not sure how someone could say they are not as good when they just trounced a supposed top 10 team by 30.  I think this is what it's going to look like when USC trounces Ohio State.

Well PG it's a good thing nobody pays you to be sure about something.  This years team we put out there was not nearly as good as the team we put out there last year which lost to them by 42.  Our offense moved the ball on them easier than the previous 2 years with lesser talent so yeah it is possible for somebody to say that.  If we had a Mark Robinson we could have punched the ball in from the one yard line this year as we did in 2006 or if we had a Rob Kramer we more than likely would have been able to capitalize on the previous red zone appearance when Bailey twice threw the ball into a lot of traffic and they were both batted away by the corners.  You weren't there PG so therefore you wouldn't really have any base of comparison.  I've been there all 3 years and this is the weakest of the teams.  But like Kirasdad said they will more than likely improve as the season goes on as I am hoping Fisher will do.

im sure that fisher will booby----they always improve

Finally, we may be back to the defense-first mentality the Bombers had in 1999, 2000, etc... Aside from the one really long run, the defense looked really tough up front.   More penetration than I've seen in the past few years, and the linebackers look fast.  Still some work to be done in the secondary.  They definitely tried to pick on the CB opposite of Cheir throughout the day.  The soft coverage and playing 5 or 6 yards of the line continues to be exploited, but the damage was kept to a minimum yesterday.

Tecmo-- How much of the defensive performance was Lycoming's inability to anything downfield though? They didn't really test the Bombers D.

I will say that IC's kids can tackle a lot better than they could a few years ago. They were required to do it a lot on Saturday and I don't know if I saw one missed tackle. A+ boys.

But, Hartwick's going to be a whole different mess. I can't remember another offense with this kind of firepower coming in here in years, with the exception of Springfield.

Anyone got the 411 on that kid from Lycoming who took that penatly following the tying TD? Talk about screwing your team over. Did he get tossed. Who's got the info?

Also, anyone think that the game was really chippy? Seemed like there were 4-5 personal foul calls. Thoughts?

As usual, Tecmo manages to hit the nail squarely on the head.  Coming into the season, a person that knows a lot more about Bomber Football than I do told me this team will go as far as the WR corps allows them to.

Think of this only one of IC's top 5 or 6 WRs from 2007 is back (Crandall) and he is hurt.  Of course, that blow is eased a bit by Weverburgh but the point remains that we have a bunch of guys that have never played.  It seemed to me that they were having trouble getting separation on Saterday requiring Juvan to wait and get pressured or throw into coverage.

Bombers798891....iceman definitely agrees with you on the improved tackling of our defense.  Last year I felt like there was at least one missed tackle per 2 or 3 plays.

As for the bonehead from Lyco...oh yeah he was tossed!  I didn't catch what happened before the penalty, but I looked over, saw him and an O-lineman tangled up on the ground, not in a tussle or anything just tangled...then the Lyco dude just popped him in the head!

The were a few PF calls...I would just attribute that to first game jitters.
All hail the Booga

The tackling cannot be any worse than the 2005 team.  That Union game was horrible.

Quiet board today.  Is there a single E8 poster who was completely happy with the way their team played on Saterday?

FA91...we had a couple significant injuries.  An OL and RB.  One of them broke a leg I believe, not sure which though.  Havent learned all the name s yet by # an the PA system wasnt working on the 'Fisher' side of the field...maybe Pep can call and complain for us ;)

I know its old news now, but I was too disappointed to read the posts yesterday after Sat game...so I will say my peace now and move on

Booby pretty much nailed it anyway...Just to add that I think that we were 3 plays away from a 0-0 game at half-time.  First TD drive followed a 3rd and long where Micheli broke free from 2 lineman at once and scrambled for a first down.  Then there was a fumbled snap by Bailey deep in our own end...and then there was the pick 6 at the end after we benefitted from a drive sustaining pass interference call that in hindsight I wish wasnt called.  Two long TD passes in the second half sealed it.  5 big plays.  We made none.

With all that said...we were dominated as the score indicates.  It is just  that the domination on the stat sheet (as in '06) could have easily translated to a 21-10 score on the field.  As you all know from the other posts, we were inside the 10 twice (once at the half-yard line) and scored 0.  Gotta have a running game...ie #25

Defense played good...save the secondary.  Blocked some kicks and only gave up 26 pts of their own.  7 of those were on a short field because of turnover.

I sure hope the team can put this behind them in a hurry.  Need 9 in a row.

fisheralum91

um no
hoping that a good week of practice and a big win takes a little sting outof  the shelling that took place

Actually the PA was working. The speakers were once located on the scoreboard and supplied excellent sound to all parts of the stadium. When the stadium was remodelled a few years ago the PA was moved to the far ends of the stands on the visitors side. This may have been done to reduce interference with the broadcasers in the pressbox. Unfortunately, all the sound travels across the field to the home side and then bounces back to the visitors side making for very poor hearing conditions. You need a radio to get the names and numbers in the stadium as you watch the game. What an upgrade! ::)

Probably not. But Ithaca dropped three spots in the rankings, so I think the powers that be weren't impressed either.

A few guys over on the OAC board have been wondering about this, so I thought I'd ask over here.  Apparantly, there was a baseball bat being passed around among the SJFC players.  Nobody ever held onto it for very long, and it just kept getting passed around from player to player.

Any ideas what this was?
