As usual, Tecmo manages to hit the nail squarely on the head.  Coming into the season, a person that knows a lot more about Bomber Football than I do told me this team will go as far as the WR corps allows them to.

Think of this only one of IC's top 5 or 6 WRs from 2007 is back (Crandall) and he is hurt.  Of course, that blow is eased a bit by Weverburgh but the point remains that we have a bunch of guys that have never played.  It seemed to me that they were having trouble getting separation on Saterday requiring Juvan to wait and get pressured or throw into coverage.

Yeah they weren't getting open, and that's what I meant when I expressed concern about a lack of offensive weapons. I think Dan only completed five passes to his WR's. without Crandall, I can't see this team breaking 30 points in a game against teams like Fisher, Hartwick, Alfred or Cortland

A few guys over on the OAC board have been wondering about this, so I thought I'd ask over here.  Apparantly, there was a baseball bat being passed around among the SJFC players.  Nobody ever held onto it for very long, and it just kept getting passed around from player to player.

Any ideas what this was?

Sideline was waiting for Kmic to get pushed out of bounds so they could take care of him the proper way... ;)

Seriously...have no idea....did not notice that though.

Was it something maybe to do with the baseball game last spring against Oswego?  I remember reading about that incident.

I heard something about the bat but I thought people were joking.  I have no idea what that's about.  Maybe Fisher realized they just weren't as good as Mount Union and tried just getting in their heads to confuse them.

I wasn't there myself so it's just what the folks at the game are reporting.  Someone apparently even asked a Fisher mother, and she wasn't aware of what it was about.  It's more of a curiosity thing for us Mount fans.

Jonny Utah

Maybe its time to move Weverbaugh out to WR and have the backup TE come in if he is good enough?

AUPepBand

Pep was pleased with the performance of the AU Pep Band at Saterday's game. It was announced prior to the game that the band had been named "Best Pep Band of Allegany County," a dubious honor no doubt as to Pep's knowledge, the A-State Pep Band folded and assume Houghton College has no pep band. Blitzkrieg Bop and Cleveland Rocks...new tunes this year, sounded good.

As for the Saxons, Pep saw a lot of good things on Saterday against Da Bears....but of course AU will need to learn to take care of the rock. Eight turnovers...yet AU still was within a TD of winning. A young O-line will mature as the season progresses. That was a very quick-to-the-ball D-line that Ursinus had on the field....they are a solid defensive team, yet our freshman QB gained a record 387 yards passing with 4 TDs.

On Saxon Warriors!

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

not so rowdy bomber

JK IceMan... must be pretty happy so far with them Broncos eh?  NSRB figured Da Rayda's would be a bit more of challenge... but Cutler is deadly outside the pocket.

As for e8 posters being happy... Rowdy thinks each team can take some good from the games, but over all NSRB agrees... probably no one is 100% pleased with the outcomes.

JK, I didn't know you were a Broncos fan.  Still major concerns about that run defense, although I didn't feel like the Raiders were going to be competitive for too long.  Pretty young team where it matters, and to have the first game be a Monday nighter would definitely expose some jitters.

Softball team lost a tough one on Saterday, with one of our girls getting picked off at 3rd, and also a mishandled bunt by our third baseman, so we had to work on that all practice yesterday.

"i can't wait to line up on saterday and see if your boys are as tough as you guys build them up to be."

Does anyone think Utica will win a game this year especially after losing to Becker to open the season by two touchdowns?

Yeah, they'll win some.
UC did what they've always done, though.

They look like a good football team on some drives, and then a complete mess otherwise.

The inconsistency is a killer.

MIYH good to see you back on the boards.

So it doesn't look like the bombers were able to connect on any big plays this past weekend.  For anyone who was at Butterfield... how did our new crew of running backs look?

We need a SJF-IC game to liven things up around here.  The collective depression around here after the E8 performances last week (save Hartwick) is troublesome.  Any suggestions?

How bout some predictions for this week?  Are we doing the pick 'em poll this year?  Sorry if I missed it somewhere?

Posted this weeks game on the pick'em board...

Couple interesting matchups with SC vs Union and IC vs Kings...
