Where is Hartwicks QB a transfer from again?

Albany...reshirted his freshman year...then transferred to Hartwick in the spring.  This goes without saying, we are lucky to have him.

Amen...IC rolled to a title in 1988 with a pair od D-I transfers at RB...them's the breaks as they say

Sometimes all it takes at this level is one great player to turn it around.  'Wick has two right now...Phelan is a very, very good D3 receiver, and to have a guy like Boltus makes him that much better.

Who were the two D1 transfers for the 88 IC team?  Not sure I am brave enough to start talking title (I wouldn't be brave enough even if 'Wick was 9-0), but they are fun to watch.

Phelan himself is a transfer from Alfred...    AU has some very good receivers in Trevor Bork (Victor) and Jared Manzer (Johnson City) and, after graduating Saucobie Riley, another J.C. boy with some decent speed--Milton Harding--is getting a shot this year.

Pep remembers when Wagner was D3 and, coming off their national championship, the Saxons, with a pretty good team, traveled to Staten Island for an encounter, a 35-19 loss. At that time, Wagner had a D-lineman that had transferred from D1 who was a monster who totally dominated the line play.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Yanks--

Mike Scott (I forget where he went to school) and Paul Parker (Transfered from Navy)

Scott was the burner. Played from 1986-88. He ran back a kickoff in the Stagg Bowl and averaged 7.1 yards a carry for his career, which had 298 carries in it.

Parker only played in 1988. In four playoff games, he ran for 493 yards and averaged 6.9 yards a carry

That '88 team was something else. The starting QB broke his leg and a Freshman--Butterfield almost never played them---named Todd Wilkowski was handed the offense. parker and Scott BOTH got named All-Americans They ran for 3,246 yards that sesaon, including over 425 in a playoff game angainst Ferrum (Parker had 5 TD's) and another 408 in the Stagg Bowl. The team they played that year, Central, allowed less than 100 yards a game rushing.

Just goes to show you what a couple of D-I guys can do, no?

Definately.  Those are some crazy stats...especially during a time when offense stats weren't as crazy as they are now.  God, I almost forgot about the freshman thing at IC.  I remember, and I may be off a bit, sometime during the mid/late 90's that the entire offense (maybe one exception) was replaced because of graduation from the year before.  Freshman, and even sophomores, rarely sniffed the field.  Not necessarily a bad thing if you have the numbers.  High school all-stars have a hard time adjusting to the fact that there is a big difference between an 18 year old recently graduated high school kid and a 22/23 year old college man.

Absolutely. Heck, Butterfield didn't even play Jeff Wittman as a Freshman, and that guy was a three time All-American. Sigh...I miss the days of unstopable Bomber RB's////

Jonny Utah

Im gonna say that in the early 1990s was when you started to see true freshman play (or start I should say) for the bombers.

In 1993 IC had a freshman running back named Justin Johnson.  He tore it up as a freshman but transferred after that year to d2 Pittsburg St. where he was also a stud and made all-american I believe.

Then there were a bunch of freshman who started to come in and do some damage right away, but many ended up leaving for other reasons.

PJ Cooney, J. Schotland, D. Hayes are a few RBs that I remember that came in as freshman and did some damage.

Jonny Utah

And I dont know if its better or worse, but back then IC (and many d3 teams like Union) would play a lot more higher level competition.

Teams like Fordham, AIC, PAC teams (Pennsylvania d2 conference), Dayton, CW Post, Springfield (scholorship d2).

sjfcards

I am watching the IC/Hartwick game, and boy is the IC offense that good or is Hartwicks defense that bad? I am not going to lie, I think it is the Hartwick D being that bad.

IC is moving the ball, and we know about their weapons, but they have wide open areas to put the ball all over the field. Hartwick just looks inept on D.

So Norwich is 2-0 and gets Husson this week...I know it was MT. Ida and Mt. Nobody in Weeks 1 and 2 but if they handle Husson and are 3-0...momentum is a funny thing...

Predictions:

Ithaca  41
Boltus   5TD'S (35)

SJF 24
UR  18  (but only because I am loyal...to be honest I fear the big upset for this one)

My IC-Hartwick prediction was my half-time prediction  ;)   41-28 (note 'Wick got picked at the goal line with secs to go or it would have been 41-35 at half....wow!)

SJFF82

SJF better get the Offense on track tonight before IC rolls to town next week  IC  has 62 midway through 3rd
