Ithaca refused to lose today!

Hartwick has, without a doubt, the worst defense I have ever seen from a football team. That effort today was pathetic. The Bomber running backs averaged 8 yards a carry and Juvan averaged 20+ yards per completion. This is why Hartwick, even with an All-American, D-I transfer at QB and an All-American at WR, will never be a legitimate threat in the E8

Nice job Bombers..........Looked good on O....D did well...Now I am off to the Courage Bowl to see what SJF has going for them this year...Go Bombers!!!!!!!

Hartwick D isnt the best granted...But Ithaca Offense is that good...IC could score at will against Hartwick...Take nothing away from Boltus...who passes for 419 yards and loses?? Not many people....Hartwick did a great job...Just were out played today...

We will find out how good Ithaca's offense is next week.  Personally I don't think the offense is as good as what they did today or as bad as what they did against Lycoming.

I got to tell you. I don't think Ithaca is going to move the ball against Fisher like they did today. That Hartwick D is really bad.

Absolutely not, especially with Juvan looking like he's at best, at 75%. His mobility was very limited today in the pocket.

Here's the problem with Hartwick's D...they don't do anything well. They don't cover, they don't get penetration, they don't tackle well. Ithaca put up 69 points on them and it looked like it could have been 89.

Hartwick's offense is amazing, but their defense forces them to play mistake free football and score 7 on every drive because they're very rarely going to get stops, even if it's 2nd or 3rd and long. And the thing about their offense is, from what I've seen, it's not a real quick strike offense. It's a lot of 5-7 yard outs and stop routes that make it difficult to qet a touchdown quickly. They rely a lot on the runs after the catch to make big plays. That, and the lack of a good running game to keep other teams honest will just kill you

It's got to be severly frustrating for an offense to just see the other team come out there and answer your scores on every drive.

The sideline guy for IC said that he heard the Hartwick D-cordinator say "Remember how this feels". But frankly, this is not a new thing for the Wick. They've allowed points for years. I don't know if it's poor recruiting, poor schemes, poor coaching or poor execution, but they don't make plays.

The E8 looks like it may will be decided next week, unless those pesky Saxons have something to say about it... ;)

STOP OVERTHROWING OPEN RECEIVERS....mAND
GO FISHER!!!

MIOH watched the 2nd half of the IC-Wick game online this afternoon and he must say that ICB is getting much better.  For the first time ever the site didn't crash on me, there were some cool new camera angles, and we even got more shots of the cheerleaders!  Props to the ICB guys.  Now if we could only figure out a way to get the time of the quarter displayed on the screen.

MIOH echos what other have already said, Wick is the worst defensive team MIOH has seen in many years.  It was clear that Juvan couldn't move... and the Wick defense never laid a finger on him.  Hopefully our recievers gained some confidence today.  Bergerstock could have run for about 500 yards and 17 TD's if we handed it to him on every play today.

Looked like a nice crowd at Butterfield for homecoming.

Exited for next weekend... maybe a trip to Rochester is in order.

No question...'Wick is struggling on defense.  I think part of this today was IC is, in fact, that good.  Their O-Line is outstanding...big, quick, physical.  Skill kids all over the place...and Crandall coming back today helped, no question.  Wevenberg was a beast...all over the place.

I still do not believe all is lost.  Two weeks to heal, and try to figure out how to stop SJF.  It certainly won't be easy, but there is no way that anyone at the game thought it was over midway through the 3rd when the score was within 6 (41-35 I believe).  A win there could turn everything around.  Could be another shoot out.

Yanks--

I love the enthusiasm man. I think you're right that Crandall added a new dimension Wick hadn't seen and yeah, Ithaca's solid, and excellent at home.

I'm not totally sure I agree with your overall assesment however. SJF is struggling, to be sure, but man, I just don't see it, especially in Fisher (Although the turf may help)

Here's the thing: You're right that it was a game at 41-35, but then Ithaca walked down the field and scored, never even facing a third down and hitting a 27 yard pass on 2nd and 12. Then it's another drive downfield, never facing a third down and converting a 2nd and 18. Then you fumble the kickoff and it's two plays and in. And that's the game. Hartwick got behind the 8 ball early and had to play catch-up

Hartwick's defense has an inability to turn 2nd and long into 3rd and long, and only forced one turnover on a punt return that was a rather questionable call. Ithaca's defense wasn't great either, but they made four big plays.

Heck, even that last drive, with Ithaca up 20 and nine minutes to go, I remember thinking, "You know, a turnover here and Hartwick could score quick and we've got a ballgame." But then it's a one play touchdown in which the running back wasn't even touched, which is pretty inexcusable knowing, at that point, that with a gimpy QB, IC was going to try and work the clock.

Certainly, Becker, Mt. Ida, Norwich and Utica should be easy wins. Springfield also looks winnable, but I think the rest are losses. 7-3 for the Wick.

Interesting thought/question:

I don't think you can find fault with Hartwick's offense today, BUT, did it seem like they were trying to use Phelan as a decoy? 4 catches for 29 yards? That's it? I'm sure IC keyed on him defensively, but really, that's all your All-American can give you? I don't buy it. To me, it seemed like Wick just decided that they would try and make IC pay for locking on Phelan.

IC did that back in '88 in the Cortaca game with Mike Scott. It didn't work for them either

Just got back from the Fisher/ UofR Game.... Not one of the finest football games I have seen on both sides of the ball by either team. Some extremely bad officiating....(Since when is a wide out an ineligable reciever?)(Snap violation?) Official must have stayed at a holiday inn express last night... Anyway...IC Fisher game should be a good one next week...I am looking forward to it....

I just do not like the offense Fisher is running this year....We are pretty much an option team at this point with no downfield passing game to speak of.  We move the ball decently but my God when it is in the redzone Fisher just struggles so mightily.

The defense was really shaky right out of the gate and through the first quarter, but after that I think they played very well.

Now on to the fun stuff, heyyyyyyy Ithaca

I am watching the IC/Hartwick game, and boy is the IC offense that good or is Hartwicks defense that bad? I am not going to lie, I think it is the Hartwick D being that bad.

IC is moving the ball, and we know about their weapons, but they have wide open areas to put the ball all over the field. Hartwick just looks inept on D.

Yea your right.

So what do you think?  SJF 77 IC 3?

Probably huh?
