utica 16 springfield 12 Final

Wow...Didn't see that coming...congrats to the Blaise and the Pioneers...

i didnt see it coming either. thank god we dumbed down our schedule. if it wasnt for fitchburg we would be winless. hopefully we can muster up a couple of victories against husson and mt ida. congrats to hartwick... it doesnt get much closer to that. alfred; my preseason pick for E8 champion is looking pretty darn good at 2-0 in the E8. its very early though. good luck to all next week.

Caz Bombers

Alfred is more than in the mix, it would seem they control their own destiny - but The Cage looms next week.

Congrats to Utica - looks like Hey Pride has officially entered Buff State memorial Ozymandias territory.

Commish and Pep,  Whatever the band was playing today, bring it on for next week.  Any interceptions thrown today?

That would be Blitzkrieg Bop and Secky threw what should been a pick six, but the Norwich defender dropped it.  I think it was a linebacker, so maybe a wideout might have run him down.

I think Secky is getting better with each game of avoiding the D-linemen with his throws.  I would say that was his biggest problem against Ursinus and led to 3 of his 4 picks, but I only remember one tip at the line today.  Just one more thing that Pep and I have been watching for improvement as the year has progressed.

The penalties continue to mount up as in past seasons and at some point it has to be considered a trend with the coaching.  I know the players all love Murray and would lie down in traffic for him, but they'd probably get called for a late hit on a sedan while they did it.  Maybe some tough love or a few extra laps when mistakes are made in practice would help, but what do I really know?

I can assure you that the "late hit" penalties and "personal fouls" have nothing to do with the coaches.  They do not preach that trust me...During the 2007 season, we ran for every late hit and personal foul call after practice the following week.  If my memory serves me right, the usual suspect  (#5) is still the one getting called on personal fouls and late hits and he is probably getting help from #31 as well.

Good to know.  I had heard anecdotally, albeit second-hand, of an instance during practice this year where an unnamed Saxon committed a foul that rose the ire of Murray only to be laughed off moments later.  I've no idea why Alfred commits so many fouls, but it seems to be a trend.

I think because the defensive side of the ball at AU takes a lot of pride, they are not soft by any means, and they get a little over anxious...ok they get more than over anxious and while its good to play hard, it was a pain in the neck sometimes when 15 yards is added on.

sjfcards

Congrats to Hartwick on a big win today. Here is a recipe for an upset...fumble twice on the 5 yard line, throw a pick inside the red zone, and miss two field goals (one that was a chip shot). Hard to believe Fisher would come out flat after last year, but they did. Oh...and Boltus is rediculous. Just unreal how athletic and easy he makes it look. Fisher's D had the chance to get off the field tons of times, and he would break away and find the first down marker.

I think the E8 is shaping up for another crazy finish like last year.  There is a reason that the league was ranked 5th overall in the country.  And you are right...Boltus is unbelievable.  'Wick could be the underdog in every game, but with him, they always have a chance.  He made a few throws today that you hardly ever see at this level...

Dont you mean anti-labor attorney?

Booooo!

Thats ok Jose.  Get some experience on the dark side and then come over to the light!

I suppose that is a fair point JU.  You a union man?

Shocked about SJF.  Well, I suppose it is about par for the course in the E8 in recent years.

Is this the year for AU?  If it is, does that make 2 into AU's version of Don Mattingly?

AU certainly has a tough row to hoe....going to Hartwick Saturday certainly will be a "cage match" but Pep is happy to report the band plans to make the trip.

Then there's a trip to an improving Utica squad...not to mention da Bombers and da Birds at Merrill.

Pep, while happy that AU is 4-1 at the moment, is also aware of the challenging battles to come.

As for the deuce, Pep would be pleased were he AU's Don Mattingly....!!! Further, Pep would like the deuce to grab a trumpet and join the band for a song or two.

P.S. AU Pep Band today made AU alum Mark O'Meara, (co-founder of Hot Dog Day, 1970s clown/cheer leader and as a senior, Saxon long snapper) an honorary member of the AU Pep Band, awarding him a shirt and kazoo. Welcome to the bandwagon, Omar!!
