Carlton is not strong enough to run inside, or quick enough to run outside. If he does not fumble at the 5 yd line vs Salisbury, Fisher wins that game. Carlton will lucky to be #3 on the depth chart next year. Also if Pierri could make 20 Yd FG vs Hatwick, Fisher wins that game also. Hopefully Brown and Biehl get some carries this week vs Springfield. With both of them back, maybe, will we see some power football from Fisher.

I thought Carlton was a tough RB in the games that I saw.  He has some problems holding onto the ball, but he looked pretty dangerous out there, from what I remember.  Who are the two backs that will replace him, Brown and Biehl?  I thought I remember Brown being hurt early on...but what is Biehl's deal?

I've been trying to find out what happened to Biehl for weeks now but have yet to get an answer.  He played in week 1 against Mount Union and he is a big running back and I remember he was effective catching the ball out of the back field.  I don't think his rushing numbers were good that game but I mean nobody's rushing totals are great against Mount Union.  I really believe he will be great against other teams, but I'm going off such an extremely limited sample size.

Dont the answer about Biehl's absence either, however, he has looked solid when he has played...big, strong and aggressive.

Broken leg suffered at MUC I believe.

RE: Brown

I guess the hope is that nobody else but me will notice that he runs the ball every single time he comes into the game... I'm no Mike Martz, but I'm thinking that in order to mix it up a little, someone else should get the ball when he comes in every now & then.

At this point, Pep sees wins by Springfield or Utica (over Fisher and Ithaca, respectively) would be equally huge.

Pep has looked two or three times at the video of the St. John's vs. St. Thomas (Johnnies Tommies) and it sure as heck looked like the Tommies had the go-ahead score. Then Pep learns that the first-year Tommies coach is a--you guessed it--a Bomber!!

Butterfield's boys are everywhere!

The only reason I think UC over IC would be a bigger upset is because UC has scored a total of 28 points in seven games against IC.  They would almost certainly need at least that many to be close.  Blaise's has got them believing though...so nothing is impossible.

Pep, where did you get the video of the St. John's game?

Highlights are on the front page -- there was a link in the main story from Saturday plus it's in the What We're Reading section.

My work wont let me download quicktime (apple 2) to watch that video.  Ill have to watch it tonight.

I'm sitting in the Denver airport now, about to head off to Jamaica for a wedding.  I'm hoping to see something like that this weekend!

Kind of a boring week this week for the E8...

Alfred and Norwich are off...

Hartwick is out in Mt. Ida...

Anyone think that Springfield has a shot against Fisher, or Utica at Ithaca...which would be the bigger upset.

I would love to see Springfield beat SJF but I don't think it is going to happen.

Pep, posting that story from the Ithaca alumni magazine reminded me.  When that came in the mail a few weeks ago the picture of IC's new President on the cover made me do a double take.  He looks just like Urban Meyer.

...

Should Welch be worried about his job?

realistic

Q - I had the same thought when that came in the mail.  Now you just need to get him down south so you can get another fancy pic with you and the Prez in there.

As for the question posed about SC or UC being the bigger upset.  I agree both would be huge, but I gotta say UC would be bigger because SC has actually had some success in the E8 in the past years.

This guy's a huge SC fan this weekend though.

UC would be the bigger upset by far considering they've had zero success vs IC before.  SC has beaten SJF before and the way SJF had trouble stopping SU's tripple option it wouldnt be that suprising.

That said, its supposed to rain on Saterday so the ball will be probably be hitting the turf alot.  SJF needs to just blow SC, UC and AU out of the water and make a case for an at large bid because I dont see them getting the pool A unless something crazy happens.

i for one am a bit troubled by the sheer amount of turnovers that the fisher o has had in recent weeks.
if they can keep the ball-- that clears up quite a few problems----and as for the forcast---i thought it was supposed to be sunny and in the 50s

Utica's the bigger upset. The only game they've played IC even remotely close was back in 2002 and that was due to IC's starting QB being hurt--actually, that 02 team had major offensive problems. In a 3 week span that began with Felliceti's injury and ended with his first game back, they scored 19 points in three weeks. In fact, IC was held under 20 points 5 times that season. It was probably Welch's worst team at IC.

But Springfield-SJF would be a massive upset as well. Springfield's offense is not capable of scoring on good teams. Rain is the great equalizer, but I remember when a hotshot Springfield team got shut down in the rain in Butterfield in 2006 and put up a whole 280 yards and 7 points a week after hanging 55 on SJF. I would suspect the rain may not have the same effect on turf--and I suppose it could make guys harder to wrap up--but I can't imagine Springfield hanging more than 20 on SJF. With the way the Cardinals have put up points these last four weeks--and let's be fair, defense has never been a strong Springfield trait--I see something like:

SJF: 33
SU: 14

IC: 44
UC: 10

Alfred's probably got a better chance upsetting SJF than Springfield

I do not think that was Biehl that suffered the broken leg ag. MUC.  I seem to remember Biehl playing well ag. Buff and UR?  I think it was a Dlineman who broke the leg at MUC.

Their 3 technique blew out his ACL, he also had 2 sacks, vs MUC.

Brown and Biehl are both expected back this weekend from what i have heard.

upstate-- i heard that last week too--- any updates?

the d really needs to step up saterday--option clobbered them against salis.

fishfan

Fumbles vs Salisbury killed Fisher. The D made enough stops to win the game, the O put the ball on the turf 4 times. Biehl dressed at Norwich but did not play.
As of today Fisher only has 8 games on the schdule for next year. Salisbury was a one and done, Norwich is leaving the E8.
