i need to sound off a little here-- it has been been bothering me since the regional rankings came out----not having fisher ranked in the top ten seems crazy to me.
I was ho hum at first---even understood it- but now that it has set in--sjf really did get hammered by voters for playing the tough schedule this year-- and that is a suprise.
i know it has been brought up-- but are there any other thoughts about this-- am i missing something?
just is sitting south with me--call me a bit of a homer--ok - but i dont think that is it

How could you possibly complain about Fisher not being there and with Plymouth st at #9. Come on let's get real. After beatng Curry PS should be #1. Fisher would not have a prayer against Plymouth St on any day of the week (only on the weekend would the SJF monkey stomp of Plymouth st take place)!

what was i thinking :P

If they had beaten Hartwick you would have a better arguement.

fisheralum91

if they had beaten hartwick they would be top 3

Thats why for many of these teams the regular season is the playoffs.  SJF basically is going to play 5 tough games this year.  They had/have to win 3 of them in order still be in contention for a great chance to make the playoffs.  They can only win 2 of them, and their chances are average because of it.

Other teams don't have that much leeway though.  Do you think RPI could get a pool C bid with 2 losses like SJF might have?

It would have been interesting to see what the rankings would have been if Ithaca beat SJF and SJF beat Hartwick.

did i mention that i hate hartwick :P

Hey 91- say hello to the doctors for me, looks like I will make the game at Alfred, and saw a little of the Springfield game- they don't look the same as when 25 played, couldn't put my finger on it, but they looked flat-wish I could make it to UC, a cold UC sounds good at this point

Pep saw an Alfred program that was at or just below .500 for a few years, jump to .750 or so with pretty much the same talent, when AU got a different assistant coach. Since Puccio has been on board, the AU offense seems to be much more productive, although Pep hasn't actually looked at the stats. Certainly AU has more wins!

Pep is wondering if the change in assistant coaching personnel at SJF has perhaps had more of an impact on the team than anything else this season? Any thoughts on that, Fisher fans? Pep will concur, also, that SJF ain't the same without #25.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

PRE-POST DISCLAIMER:  WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ CONTAINS SUBJECTIVE AND AT TIMES DOWNRIGHT BIASED OPINIONS ABOUT MY LOYALTIES TO ST JOHN FISHER FOOTBALL.  IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO 'HEAR' IT THEN SKIP PAST THIS POST, AND GO DIRECTLY TO YOUR 'SMITE' KEY WHICH I AM SURE YOU WILL BE INCLINED TO DO ANYWAY AFTER HAVING READ THIS FAR.  DISCLAIMER....DONE

Certainly SJF is not a power to be reckoned with this year.  Even had they played King's and 'Port instead of MUC and Salisbury and had a 7-1 record at this point instead of a 5-3 record, it does not change the fact that they have failed to dominate teams they way teams expecting deep play-off runs dominate.  They have muddled through their schedule like certain IC posters muddle through my posts looking for a reason to smite me.

Yet can anyone provide us with any objective justification for Husson's and Plymouth State's regional rankings?   A  2 loss Husson over a 3 loss SJF?  Is somebody joking?  Plymouth lost to Mt. Ida....Mt Ida.  I dont care if SJF lost to Mt Rushmore, You do not lose to Mt Ida and make the East rankings.  This is a blemish for the East as a whole!!!    This regional ranking should be given as much credit as the Coaches' Poll so often gets....NONE.  This isnt the NFL Pro Bowl is it, where every team has to have a representative?  Does every conference, including the Independents, have to be represented in the Regional Rankings?

The rest of the rankings seem right...and even close in line to 'our' Fan Poll.  If I was AU, I would be almost as confused by these 2 inclusions.

Does anyone doubt that had Fisher been 7-1 right now, with even 1 point wins against King's and 'Port instead of their losses to #1 and #16, that they would be in the top 5?  So unless the Committee thinks that they are not good enough to beat King's and Port by 1 (which if so  then so be it) then how do they explain the rankings?  I do think that SJF is not a powerful 7-1 team had they played last year's schedule with this year's performance, but they would be highly ranked nonetheless.

On a positive note...I feel good that 'Wick has 3 more chances to slip up in conference and hand us the AQ...as long as we take care of business.  SJF has done nothing to help themselves this season, so why change now....'Wick help us...so we can play MUC in Round 1 and......OUCH!

25 was not around last year either.  9-1 and but for MUC in the East, quite possible a re-peat trip to Final Four.

They were not exclusively running the spread last year compared to this year....

They looked like SJF last year, this year....

Not so much...
