Both analyses were about what I expected.

We definitely struggled late in the year at Alfred two years ago when we were overlooking the Saxons.  Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

In unrelated news, looks like Cortaca sold out in about 13 seconds today.

As nice as that new stadium is in Cortland, it is too small for the Jug.

Yea, Ive said this every year but I think there should be an entrance where if you are over 25 or 30 or 35 or whatever you can get in and/or buy a ticket at the gate.  Although there is no room in the stands at the Cortaca games, there is alot of room to watch the game around the field if people wanted to.  If I remember correctly Im not sure you were aloud (or allowed) to walk around the endzone?

XREDDRAGON77

I recall bleachers being located behind the endzones at the stadiums main gate.  You are right Utah,....the new stadium is too small and it's still a decent sized facility.
Taste It!

Yea I kind of remember them too.  But they were empty in a sold out game!

I've got to disagree with you both...one of the biggest problems with Cortaca is overcrowding. Speaking as someone in a wheelchair that cannot navigate tight spaces, nor survive in a standing room only crowd, I dislike the Cortaca set-up at IC. It's exceedingly dangerous,

Look, we're the exceptions, but we all know that 70% of the kids at these games couldn't name the starting QB's if we handed them a media guide. It's an excuse to get drunk and act juvenille. The entire culture of Cortaca runs counter to what the games should be about. I resent that I go to almost all the games every single season when most other students are sleeping off hangovers, and then, when Cortland comes to town, 10,000 extra people suddenly decide they're going to be Bomber fans for three hours.

A friend of mine had a great idea: Distribute cards that can only be stamped at the gate to a game. In order to go to Cortaca, you'll need to go to at least 50% of home games. So this season, with five games, you'd need to attend three games in order to purchase a ticket to the game. The more stamps you have, the sooner you can buy your tickets (5 before 4) To me, this ensures that the true fans are the ones who get to enjoy Cortaca, whereas the typical drunk undergrad who wouldn't know Jeff Wittman from a whole in the wall will have to hope tickets become available.

Now, a certain number of Alumni tickets can be made available, and, students that go to at least 75% of home games will have the option of purchasing guest tickets. This way, again, it's the real fans that get rewarded, not the ones who show up after kegs and eggs and before the late afternoon pre party

You may think I'm against having a good time for Cortaca. I'm not. The game is available on local TV, so if kids want to get drunk, they can do it at off campus apartments, or the bars. This cuts down on the possibility of fights, students storming the field before the game ends (See: the 1997 game) and people getting arrested

Can't you be a Bomber fan, know about the team and still enjoy adult beverages (if you're of age, of course) and act somewhat juvenile? Everyone's got that one story about going to a Jug game either at Butterfield or Chugger (or the Stadium too now I guess) that gets told every year about this time. Some of my favorite memories at Ithaca were going to Cortland and watching Ithaca win those games in '98 and 2000.

Is anyone on here going to the game this year? I'll be partaking in my first Jug since 2004 ('05 doesn't count - I got sick the night before and missed the game).

Yea I can see IC limiting tickets, but Cortland is a brand new place which I hope had decent HP access for people.  But it just seems to me that when the game is at Cortland, there should be a way to let more people in the game who are sober (or half sober) and over the age of 25.  Hell, they only have about 50 troopers at the gate there.

I don't think the ticket thing would work.  Just not gonna happen.

And although Im sure they dont want to see happen what happened in 1996 (I played in that game).  At some point you have to take more proactive measures to make sure everyone is safe at those games.

I mean, kids are kids and they are going to get drunk.  But I don't want to see anyone get hurt or not have the chance to watch the game in peace either.

But those 10K partying kids are what makes that game so great!  And although they arent going to every game all year, its not like they arent watching the game and going nuts when things happen.  You should come to a Boston College game someday.  Its like a dam tea party.

I am fired up for the ND/BC game this weekend though.  Ill be one off the "drunk kids" this weekend

The 10K partying kids are fine...the problem is when 5,000 of them are drunk. That's how people get hurt.

Drunk 'kid' Jonny Utah parties at the BC/ND game...

Jonny Utah

My whole point wasn't really about the kids bomber.  You are right about all of that.

Im just thinking of the local guy who wants to take his kid to some of the game and stand in the endzone and be far away from all the drunks.  Thats all Im sayin.  Maybe even have a section where students have to sit in.  Thats what BC does.  They wont even let the kids (who are sometimes just as drunk and probably number 10K) in certain gates.

LD your a dink

I like their option now of making some alumni tickets available, although I'm not sure how many were set aside.  I haven't been able to make it to a game yet this season, but it sounds like Ithaca is having more than enough issues trying to get students to attend.  Making it mandatory to get a stamp is just going to add to the problem.

I like the wild atmosphere that Cortaca creates...outside of when the IC stands start chanting Cortland3x...you suck after a huge completion/touchdown.  It's a great opportunity for us alumni folks to get together, and I sit by fans who know their stuff and we can talk football, but love the electricity all around.  So I say let's go, enjoy some football, and join us for a beer or two if you want.  Go Bombers.

I have to say I like the atmosphere that Cortaca creates, but imagine if they played two or three weeks later in the playoffs...god that would  be unreal. All the fun, with more on the line. I love it.
