heck I think IC can beat Alfred and lose a close game to Cortland and still get a pool c...

Thats tough considering that they'd have 2 in region losses...

superman57

both on the road, both to ranked opponents (at the time) they got in last year with worse than that

RPI is down 17-10 with 4 minutes left.  They would be Pool C contention as well.

Gotta remember that the rest of the country gets pool C's also, there are more 1-loss teams than last year...

This is why they play the games....for 4 weeks we have been 'arguing' about SJF's schedule and their margins of victory and how bad SC is....blah blah blah.  And we have been swallowing how strong IC is and how they have pasted everyone since Fisher....ok, now it comes down to one game on the field and the only team in the E8 that controls its own destiny is Fisher!!!

On to Saxon land we go!!!

Hold your horses bud...

AU had many chances to win this game today, their offense is very potent...

SJF is going to have to bring their A++ game next week in order to get to the NCAA's...

IC is still legit, they are still 8-1 and are in line for a pool A or C depending on next weeks game...

Hold what horses?  Did I even imply we were going to win?  I am just excited we ahve this opportunity after the way things have gone this year.

That I agree with, this game has even more on the line than the 2005 AU/SJF game.  That game SJF was playing for a pool C.  This year its a Pool A, it reminds me of the 2004 game more than the 2005 game...

Well I guess the debate a few weeks ago about Wick has been answered. Tough one today for Wick but I think this is better for the E8 and the East region as a whole. That triple option will get cha!

This is a good day.  Fisher will have had 2 weeks to prepare for Alfred, a team that has a traditional offense which is when Fisher's defense shines the most.  If you look at their games this year the most they have given up to a traditional O is the 27 (I'm not counting that pick 6 for obvious purposes) points they allowed against Mount Union.  The D has only given up an average of 12 points per game against those teams, including Mount Union, but have given up an average of 41 points against the 3 gimmick teams they have faced.  That really is a telling statistic...

Now the Fisher offense....that will be another story.  If they can perform at an acceptable level and don't turn the ball over a million times as they do from time to time, I think Fisher will come out on top.

1) Springfield still isn't that good. So they beat Hartwick. They were 0-4 in conference before then. Since when is being able to score points against Hartwick a benchmark for being good? Springfield is 3-6.

2) I would say beating Alfred on the road is a tad more impressive than any win Fisher's had since about Week 4. Especially considering the starting QB and RB were both hurt.

3) If Fisher wins, they're in. If they lose, they're not. Good luck SJF. At least when you make the playoffs, you'll actually put up a fight, unlike Hartwick.

4) Since it's a forgone conclusion that an IC win gets them in the NCAA's, where does a loss leave them? Given that, if SJF wins, IC's only two losses would be to conference champions--one who would be undefeated and probably Top 5--it's possible I suppose.

boobyhasgameyo

Yeah but Bombers using the logic you used earlier when Fisher was defending their losses, Ithaca will have had their chances to prove they can beat top tier teams but didn't get the job done.  I agree with whoever said that if Fisher and Ithaca both win next week Ithaca will in all likelyhood get the higher seed and a home game in the first round, but if Ithaca comes out with a loss there are just too many teams fighting for pool C's this year.  Especially if one of their L's came from a Fisher team that by your account isn't terribly good.

HHawks

ok, so If hartwick wins impressive next week, and by impressive I mean 30+ points, and if St. John Fisher and Ithaca both lose, is there a chance that Hartwick could still sneak in the NCAA's?

1  I did not say SC was that good...but they did beat Wick and almost beat SJF.

2.  Your not making excuses about the 30 pt loss 6 weeks ago are you?  You have been rather objective and making good points on here for the past 3 weeks otherwise...

3.  agreed...of course ;)

4.  now everyone wants the benefit of having lost to a 3 loss SJF....OHHHH THE IRONY?

Two in-region losses is going to kill them regardless of what happens with IC and SJF...
