Fisher /Alfred will be decided by turnovers and a late field goal. This game is just a toss up.  If Fisher loses a team will be imported from the South Region, Muhlenburg. Would love to see a Cortland/Fisher game.

E8

I was able to watch some flim on Alfred this week, and yes their blitz package is pretty lethal, but they are not that fundamentally sound when they 'bring the house'.  A team that is prepared to hit hot routes and prepared to recognize the vacancies that are WIDE open will GASH this team.   Ithaca receivers could not catch a pass to save their lives against Alfred and, in my opinion, the game was closer than it should have been.    I think this all comes back to the Fisher staff having two weeks to prepare for this.   Fisher has the potential for a handfull of big plays tomorrow if they stay patient and relaxed against this defense.   #5 for Alfred (Nitchse) is one of the best defensive players I have seen all year, and undoubtedly the most physical.   He can create havoc in the middle of the field for Fisher.... keep your head on a swivel, as they say.    Dan Ruggerio, RB for Ithaca, dominated in the running game with over 200 yards rushing on 25 carries averaging 7.8 per rush.   Take out his 61 yard scamper, he is STILL at 5.8 per carry.   As good as this Alfred defense is, they are also undiciplined in their execution at times and a prepared and confident Fisher team could prove to be the difference in this game.   Alfred's DE's FLY up the field too often on running downs and create some nice running lanes putting signigicant pressure on their LBs which are very good, but you never want your linebacker on an island.   Run at #97 (DE for Alfred).  He is a good, quick player, but at 205 pounds it becomes much harder to stop the run.    He is a pretty good pash rusher, however.
This is going to be a very close game and, as I have said all week, this game will come down to which team has the better special teams play.   This will be the FIFTH straight Fisher/Alfred game that has playoff implications.  You can't get much better than that.  Good Luck to both teams...fasten your seat belts.

Fisher better come to play, AU has knocked them out of the playoffs before (2005-Brady game) and I am sure Coach Murray and his staff would like to play spolier again.  If Pollock, Becton and Trapper can get after the Freshman QB and force some mistakes it will be a good day.  However if he has time to find those two good AU WR's downfield its going to be a long day for Fisher.

I really think that this game is featuring the E8 front runners for next season though, both teams are featuring great young QB's that can make plays and win games.  Its going to come down to which young QB makes mistakes vs which young QB makes plays.

wow.  e8  +K.  Dubbz has been sidelined from the E8 boards for some while pationately awaiting Cortaca time to post.

but that was a good one on here.

Lets hope Alfred wins so that this pesky Cortaca jug game remains just a Jug game and not a season must win for the Bombers.

Only audio available online.  But, it's just a quick, 3 hour trip across 90 and down 390 to watch the game live at Merrill.
