Greetings to all!! I'm a nube. My son was brought up to the Alfred varsity 3 games ago. Up to that point I was following the Saxon JVs.The last three games have brought alot of fun to my family and I as my 83 y/o father-in-law got to see his grandson play D3 football against Rochester! the loss to Ithaca was heartbreaking but that kid Ruggeirio(sp) was a stud. The highlight of beating an excellent SJF team was terrific and that #83 was unstoppable, kudos! The character of the Saxons is showing up and at the right time. Can't wait for Saturday at RPI!!!!!........PS A tip of the hat to the pep band for the "block that kick" cheer at just the right time

                                                                        ON YOU SAXONS!!!!!!!

Pep is always happy to have others toot the band's horn! P.S.: The band followed that with a "Win That Toss!" cheer, which, remarkably, also worked!

On Saxon Warriors!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

nah the IC and Cortland round 2 game was certainly in the NCAA's mind when handing out the seeds...

They basically gave IC and C-State bye weeks...

Well, Curry did beat Hartwick last season...however...

1) Hartwick's defense allowed 35 PPG last season and their point differential was only +16

The Wick won a lot of close games. Their 5 conference victories came by a total of 16 points and none was by more than 6 points. They allowed 35% of Utica's season total in points. Simply put, this was an 8-2 team lucky to be 8-2 instead of 5-5. Anyone who watched that team knows they survived by the skin of their teeth nearly every single week.

By contrast, Ithaca is only allowing 21 points per game, and have outscored their opponents +163. They have won five games this season by 20+ points.

2) Hartwick was playing on the road. Ithaca is playing at home

This is the crucial point. You guys should know how tough of a place Butterfield is to play. Ithaca was 5-0 at home this season. They have gone 38-3 at home since October of 2001. The only losses were to SJF in 2007, who was #6 in the country at the time, and to their archrival Cortland State. Ithaca has won their 5 home games this year by a combined 119 points. Four of those games were by at least 27 points. Simply put, Ithaca is almost unbeatable at home. You guys were 10 times the team Curry is and Cortland games are as much neutral site games as they are anything given the crowds for both squads.

Hartwick went 3-2 on the road in the 2007 regular season. They went 0-5 on the road in 2006 and 2-3 in 2005. It gets worse the farther back you go. Not for nothing, but comparing the Wick on the road to Ithaca at home is comparing apples to Porterhouse steaks. Curry beating a team that lost 66% of their road games the last three seasons is a lot easier than a team that has won 92% of its home games the last 7 years. Not to get cocky, but, rare exceptions aside, opposing teams just don't win at Butterfield.

Is Ithaca a lock to win? No. But Hartwick's a bad comparison, albeit the only one you can really make I suppose

Well, I mean, you bring up a good point. I'm sure the Wick guys were thinking the same thing for about 14 seconds before  the opening kickoff was run back for a TD. I'm sure the selection committee was aware they were giving Curry another crack at the E8 with it, so I figured I'd run it through

Caz Bombers

Tremendous IC-Curry connection from Mike Warwick's release - Bill Struzzi is the wide receivers coach for Dem Spicy Boyz.  You may remember Struzzi from such moments as "the last IC-Fisher game that didn't want to make Caz drink the stuff under the sink."

At least SJF put curry back in its place the following week...

I find it funny that, call it sour grape wick fans if you want, the one NCAA appearance for Team Boltus was a complete disaster...

Funny? Nah. It was too predictable to be funny. What, we thought a team allowing close to 40 PPG and  winning each week on some miracle was going to win an NCAA game on the road?

Wick can hang their hats on the two straight wins vs SJF all they want but at least we beat CURRY!!!

Memo to E8; 1 shuttle pass is not attacking the middle of the field. 1 completion to a TE for 5 yards is not attacking the middle of the field. This pass was completed between the numbers and the sidelines, not attacking the middle of the field. Passes were caught and the receivers ran to the middle, but other than 1 shuttle pass, nothing was down the middle. QB's last two games 47/90 4int's, vs Alfred 31/60 3int's, 9/21 on 3RD downs. 29 plays gained ZERO yards, or 1 out of every 3 plays called = no gain. Robby Browns pass/eff is 108,Tommy Hamels is 159.27. Fisher's TD red zone eff. is 49%. The Fisher O was sluggish all year long, mostly inpart to poor play calling. As far as Tim Marion he caught 49 balls all year, 14 vs Alfred, why just one game. Marion is a route runner Baily is at his best when the play breaks down and he can throw the deep ball. Baily is not a system QB, neither are the WR's comming back next year.  Why was Hammel never give a chance? Best of luck to Ithaca, Cortland and Hobart, do New York D3 proud, BEAT MUC.

Shouldn't the Fisher guys be over on the ECAC board?

Pipe down or we'll send Coach Vos over to Curry's sidelines...
