I'm not going to disappear.  I didn't see the game, obviously, but I am not ready to just chalk it up to overlooking Curry.  From what I heard on the radio, their QB is just a good player and they were better Saterday.

Pep ain't going anywhere because his Saxons put up a good fight and came up a fumble recovery short of victory on Saterday. And Pep knows that all the level-headed highly-respected Bomber posters will always be around.

Heck, Pep appreciates what these boards have done to help Pep connect with fans of other teams. It was a real pleasure this past Saterday to chat with Senor Red Tackle and be part of his pops' return to RPI after many years. And, while RT's Pops was warmed by a Rensselaer football jacket, closest to his heart was an Alfred University sweatshirt, which he proudly displayed among RPI fans when AU scored. And, Pops sat with the AU Pep Band for the second half. For those who may not know, RT's Pops was a member of AU's back-to-back unbeaten teams of 1955 and 1956.

Pep believes these boards are a great venue to build the relationships that espouse the D3 football mystique. Unfortunately, there are some who haven't learned the art of supporting one's team while being respectful and considerate of others who are equally passionate for their teams. It's their loss.

If we can support our teams while exhibiting respect for others, we're all winners...."do unto others as you would have them do unto you," the Golden Rule. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

+1....great summary

Well.... we lost.... again.....

What was most interesting to me was on the last drive with 30 seconds left I dont think, I may be wrong, but, I am almost positive that Weatherberg was not in on one play.  An all american tight end not in at all when you have 3 time outs left.  Send the guy 15-20 yds down the field.  Instead we threw deep.  Which was fine if Curry did not create an intential pass interference, BRILLIANT on their part, on Crandall at the 5 yard line Ithaca wins the game.  But you need the safe dump to a sure handed player.  We started the drive around our 35 remember.  So there was only 65 yards to go for glory.

2 blocked extra points for Ithaca against Curry and then when they go for two Curry Whips out the IC Cryptonite (SP) and slaughters us.  The IC Cryptonite (SP) for those that dont know is the short pass 2 yards in front of the line of scrimmage out in the flats.  Every team in the last 10 years runs that and we give up 5-10 yards every time!

Curry was good....but, they were not the 4th best team we have played this year!

JUVON HAD TO BE REEALLLLYYYY HURT FOR HIM NOT TO PLAY AT ALL!

man these 2 are doin more harm than good when it comes to sjfc alums and fans on this board.

gents- bring something to the table without insipid remarks or grandiose claims.

poking the bear isnt a great idea

Whatever you like to do with animals is your business.

You guys are sooooo sensitive and judgmental - for you its understandable being a soccer player and all, but am a little surprised at how thin the skin is for the rest.

I support the program and I want them to win - win all the time, win big, win it all.    As unrealistic as it may be, it comes with being a fan (which is short for fanatic in case your english lingo roots is a little rusty).

And this comment is entirely geared to you, boobey, and others who sit around and say hey its D3, can't we all just get along -- I cannot think of anything more insulting to the players, or those that have played, by making a comment like that - which all of you do.

The game you are playing in, the team you support, is important. Regardless if it is D3, 2, 1AA, or 1.

that's why a score is kept, and winners and losers are declared.

This season was a disappointment on a team specific and a conference level. . .

I would just like to comment on the 'Wick brockport game on Saturday.  This was an absolute shootout....neither team had a prayer at stopping the other teams offense.  The brockport runningback who was bigger than any player Hartwick had on the field on defense was tremendous running behind a line of several 300 pounders.  The Wick size disadvantage was tremendous.  However, Boltus and the boys still scored 68 points in the bitter cold despite snowy and windy conditions.

I consider myself lucky to have watched this kid for the past 4 years and I wish him the best of luck in the NFL.  He should go down as one of the greatest E8 or D3 players of all time and it will be a shame if he does not get the Melberger and Gagliardi this year.

Good luck to the 'Wick next year but if they dont get some beef up front they are going to be staring a very bad season in the face.

It is easy scoring points and racking up yards when there is no defense on the field!

Congrats and good luck to Boltus.  He is a special talent.  I hope he gets a fair shake.

Agree 100%, being new to the Hartwick team this year, I  don't know the resasons why they can't recruit larger lineman on both sides of the ball. If they don't, as you said, next year could be a long year. I saw #67 for Brockport taking lineman downfield 15 yards.

I will say, the Hartwick oline coach should get some kudos.  His kids are overmatched physically each game and they battle all day long. Well coached unit.

Next year I think they will need to go to zone read type offense. They are not going to have another Boltus. I will say that most D3 teams that have a great QB have a hard time recruiting another one until that QB graduates. Hopefully Coach Carr finds one this year.  With the zone read you can utilize the good running backs they have. Tosh Demulder proved that he can play. They need to control the clock by running the ball to keep the undersized defense off the field. This is contrary to what Coach Carr likes to do.  We will have to see if he changes to help the team win.

Defensively they need to get bigger up front.  LBs are in pretty good shape, two freshmen 43 and 44 played a lot and along with 53 who is a soph, that unit should be ok. Assuming they get better guys up front to keep them off the LBs. I did notice that some time, the DBs were wary of contact. I am not calling anyone out but, at times they didn't look like the wanted to hit the Brockport RB. I think they really missed #5 their large senior safety.

I hope coaches are hitting the recruiting trail, they need to have a great class.

One more thing.....I witnessed the dumbest play call in the history of football on Saturday.  Going for a 2-pt conversion to tie the game at 70 Hartwick decides to take the ball out of thier All American QB's hands and run a halfback option with a backup runningback who was wearing gloves and running to his left????????

How do you call that play in that situation and take the ball out of Boltus' hands after he lead you up and down the field all day?

Thoughts........

It is hard to question Coach Carr, but, if you are  going to run that play, run it the way the kid can naturally throw it.

The bigger question is, why when up 62-42 and running the length of the field with Demulder and Rockefeller, did we throw the fade that got intercepted in the endzone? Again, the guy is a great offensive coach, but he would like to have that one back. I think if Hartwick scores there, the game is over. When Bport was in throwing downs the little dline from Hartwick did  a good job rushing the passer.

When the Pep Bandwagon (which notched mile # 308k on the trip to RPI) stopped at the Wendy's in Oneonta on the way back to Mayberry, we ran into a bunch of Wick fans who were also on their way home.  This exact question, halfback option for the 2pt conversion, was the main topic of conversation among the Wick faithful.  It was actually quite a humerous dinner as Wendy's became the unofficial restaurant of fans of E8 teams losing in the postseason and we talked E8 and Cuse football before parting ways.  If any of you Wick guys decide to weigh in, let me know cause I got a +k for ya!

haha....E8 convention in Wendy's.  Well the one thing I will say in response to the call to throw the fade pass up 20 in Q3 was that there was one on one coverage on Phalen on that play and that was the only time he saw it all day.  I will agree that DeMulder and Rockefeller had some great runs on that drive but keep in mind that Brockport was playing a pass prevent defense that whole drive.  The safeties were about 20 yards downfield the entire drive guarding against the long pass.  It would have been a lot tougher to run on the goaline.  I didnt mind that playcall....I would take my chances with boltus and Phelan any day of the week against one on one coverage.  It was just a pass that got cought in the wind or one that just got away from Boltus.

Wow that was a game... Congrats to Boltus, I hope you make it on to the next level.  Can you imagine if he was on Ithaca ??

If he was on Ithaca his stats would be cut in half...

NYSGUY

Yeah and Ithaca would also be playing next week too!  That was a dumb post if I ever saw one.

Not quite half but I'd put his reduction in stats around 30%...

Good point on man to man coverage, but, the only thing that would hurt you at that time is a turn over. Being it was on the 11 yard line I would have run it. Surprising Hartwick has not done too bad on the goal line this year running the ball. Usually tosses on the goal line don't work, but Hartwick made a living on it this year.
