Well, the SAME thing was said by a number of people about Pierre Garcon for the past few years and Indy went and got him and he is actually contributing this year.

Let's just note how impressive it is when NFL scouts come to see a D3 QB... and then speak positively about him.   It's just good for D3 football.....

Surely you know the difference between making the NFL at WR or RB, and making it at QB. Apples and oranges, I'm afraid.

HHawks, I have no doubt that you've watched him for the past few years and think he's the real deal. Unfortunately, that myopic opinion and .75 cents will get you a bag of chips. I think you're overestimating Boltus's arm. I think it's an average to above-average D1 arm from the couple of times I've seen him play. I also think he makes poor decisions when he's under pressure, a big red flag to any NFL organization. Time will tell when he has the opportunity to compete against other QB's from higher levels. I just don't see him being NFL-ready nine months from now. He is relatively raw and will need A LOT of time to develop.

I believe it will be a long shot he gets drafted. It is probably to his benefit if he doesn't. He can then weigh any options he may have to sign as a free agent.

On the arm strength, one of the Hartwick coaches said the SD Charger scout says he has a better arm then Rivers does.
On top of that, I was standing right next to all the NY Giants QBs this summer at Albany. Boltus throws the ball as well as anyone there. Arm strength will not be the issue. Decision making will be the deciding factor due to the level he played at. But, like the Colts scout said, he wasn't throwing against D1 DBs but he wasn't throwing to D1 WRs either.

Oh, he has a stronger arm than Philip Rivers? In that case, draft him 4th overall! What is that supposed to mean? I think every poster on this board has a stronger arm than Chad Pennington. Are we playing QB in the NFL?! Again, that means nothing. I wasn't that blown away with Boltus's arm. I certainly don't think it was any better than most of the Conference USA QB's that I watched through the years. Most of whom are not in the NFL.

The difference between Boltus and Rivers/Eli Manning is that Boltus didn't spend his college years torching the SEC and ACC. I hope he gets a shot in the Arena League.

I was only responding to the question on his arm strength. The comment about the Chargers scout was made by a coach who was present at the workout. The comment about the Giants QBs was a personal observation on my part. You can believe me if you want, I have no reason to lie about it.

Im new to the boards and I know you guys prolly arent excited to deal with another wick guy haha. Now that im retired I figure I should join the fun. I know you guys took care of the Boltus thing and are ready to move on but Id like to say one thing. I played with Jay the last couple years and the kid is great he deserves all the success he has gotten and will continue to get. The kid has an arm and a half I dunno how many busted fingers I have from that kid. He has all the physical tools to succeed and I wish him the best just like everybody else.

Heyy buddy!!! The goold ol' days. We were unstoppable... Remember when you dressed as Farenbach during practice and we tore them up?  Those were some good times.  I hope you dont forget who your favorite quarterback is!  haha But seriously, you had another amazing year, congrads dude, you definitely deserve it. Wish the last two games worked out better for you.  But we will have to get together, make a trip back to the old U.  Take it easy buddy, hope to hear from you soon.
