I generally agree that there was not much difference between the top three teams in the LL last year.  While it does not always hold true, one of the things I look at relative to overall strength of a team is time of posession.  Bart was one of only two teams that Union played during 2005 that controlled the time of posession against the Dutchmen (Rowan was the other).

As for this year, I expected that Bart's defense would not be as strong as last year after graduating so many of their big play defenders.  But if I were a Bart fan, I would be more concerned that the offense isn't stronger with just about everyone back.  The running game has been just fair so far (currently last in the LL) and while Mizro has been fantastic, he's already been sacked 7 times in 2 games, and he is the most elusive QB in the LL.

True dat.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out this year.  The Rev really shouldn't base my opinion of this year's team based on seeing them every weekend two years ago, one game last year, and no games this year.  His opinions become as dim as his memory.

The Rev worries a little from a couple thousand miles aaway and he sees his boys winning by narrow margins.  It reminds him of the Friday before Black Monday in the stock market.  Volume was racing to record levels and the prices were going no where. Sort of like a team that has good or great stats in a game, yet only eke out a victory.  too much effort for too little payback.  When the Rev sees "churning" his stomach churns.

The Rev, always wishing to put a positive spin on things, says that he is glad that the LL has such an evenly matched membership.  Having teams like Bart, The U, and Toots so close in ability makes for some good football games and excellent speculation about post-season.

The Rev looks forward to a good game this Saturday, and hopes that he will get home from work in time to catch at least some of it on WEOS on-line.

Tlm -

You raise a good point - especially considering (I believe) Bart has a fairly veteran O-line (I think 3 or 4 of last year's starters are back??).

Bart had a decent but not great (142 net) rushing game against WPU.  Our cumulative rushing stats were also negatively affected due to the our piss poor 64 net yds vs. the Dick Devils.

Rev -

I have to take issue with your "Hobart actively undermines everything masculine in this world" comment, but that is a debate to be had offline.

Tlm

Pumpkin,

Bart has all five O-linemen back from 2005 and 10 of 11 starters on offense.  They graduated only WR Colby Feene from last year's offense.

Here is what reg doesn't understand.

If 18 year old hood rats can figure out how to set up a web camera and broadcast her "booty dance vol. IV" live for thousands of people to view, WHY can't a school like RPI purchase a $600 video camera, set up a a host site and get us access to the game!....I mean, it would probably even draw more people to the games knowing how good or bad a team is.

I mean, it only makes SENSE.....

Does anyone know the fine legal details around this?  Yesterday, Reg was wagering on Philadelphia horse racing from his home office while watching it live on simulcast.....for FREE.

I don't even care if the game is live or not....I just want to see it.

PS- That RPI you tube pick-off video could have either been from 1947, 1987 or 2004 (from the videos our guys take).  Or it could have been a night game and a night vision camera.  Take your pick.

Pat Coleman

I don't believe there are any fine legal details around it. The school owns rights to its home games (though regular season only, the NCAA owns rights to all NCAA playoff games).

PBR...

pbr's see's oppourtunity here pat....time for d3 to wrap up the rights and for little over head start streaming the games...at least the ones you and gordon attend...what do you think?

Reg, get this...

according to The Rensselaer Plan started in 2000 RPI wants to raise $1.4 billion (put your pinky up to your mouth) by 2009.

25% of that amount is earmarked for "Essential Campus Platforms (student life programs, athletic programs and facilities, and experimental media and the arts)"

Well, in 6 years they already have $1.2B so 25% of that is $300 million which leaves 'gro wondering... what's the hold up? Give the athletic department a $100 million makover.

labart96

Geez Tlm knows more about TGP's team than TGP does!

That being said, Hobart's offensive performance has been, well, offensive.

Gro Get a late pass...
The Rensselaer Board of Trustees has voted to increase the Renaissance at Rensselaer campaign goal from $1 billion to $1.4 billion, extending the campaign timeframe to June 30, 2009.

I love it.....They blow out there number for their campain and think they can increase it by another 40% just because they did!!

I want to know WHY they need so much more money???  They had a plan....what will an additional half a billion dollars benefit them?

PS- as far as the football team seeing anything more than $200,000 forget the 3,000,000 you are talking about....

Let's see, say that the FB team gets $10mm out of that 300mm.....where could they spend it
- new uniforms- $20,000
- new equipment $ 100,000
- lay sod on the practice field, which now consists of rocks and dirt $10,000
- Give Ort some good training room stuff $30,000
- Give Jerry in the Cage a "MTV Cribs" makeover- $25,000 (complete with mini sub-z and 50" plasma)
-That leaves about $9.8mm to play around with....there is nothing else the FB program needs!

'gro

here jerry... this is a new $10,000 microwave developed by NASA for the space station. It can heat up a hot pocket in 8 seconds.
