I hate to say this, but the final score does matter in terms of "blowouts" and "Monkey Stomps."  If we used the same approach you're using to call Hobart's win a blowout, Union would've blown out WPI 28-27 and F&M 28-21.  They had double-digit leads and one-sided stats in both of these games for most of the games, and ended up holding off these opponents.  An 11-point win vs. MMA isn't much more impressive than Union's effort's holding them off.  I think the games by Union and Hobart this weekend may provide more questions than answers as both head into a strong stretch of schedule.  I'll update the LL and Pool C Playoff post tomorrow.

Frank

With all due respect counselor, Bart was up 30-7 with less than 5 mins to play in the game b/f allowing 12 garbage time pts with the 2nd and 3rd stringers in the game (the last MM TD happened as time expired.  TGP is not even sure if Hobart was still on the field when it did).

Although TGP was disappointed that Coach C didn't shoot to preserve the "monkeystomp" status this game deserved, TGP understands Coach C giving some the younger guys a chance for some PT with the game well in hand.

Hobart was not "holding off" MMA at the end here.  This was a decisive victory IMO.

Here's the box score if you care to review.....

Regardless, I think you are correct that both Hobart and Union have a lot of work to do in the next couple of weeks.  Neither appear to be truly playoff worthy and/or sturdy yet.

One time ZA's wife tried to cut ZA's hair and made a huge mistake necessitating all hair trimmed down to a number1...So, on the way to that, ZA told her to make it a mohawk....ZA looked like the chicken hawk on looney toons....

had the same deal happen prior to pre-season ball jr yr of hs.  tgp's dad reacted like tgp had been horribly disfigured in a bad car accident.

gro noticed that there are no endzone stands... which is fine as long as they allow the red swarm alumni to set up shop there.

RT has it on good authority that RPI's senior administration is taking the end zone crew into account in the stadium design....

what comments? hook a gro up.  The funny thing about this whole deal is that NO ONE on TV has blamed the FIU coach/team. All the focus has been on Coker and the U. Basically what the media is saying is that since FIU is a new IA program (i.e. they suck), and they were getting killed anyhow... it's ok to start a brawl.

Mr. Hoffman, is that how you tackle? NO!! Head UP, get low, "bite the ball", and "rip through"

Seriously, you should never have your head down like that.

gro will make up for your lack of HTML skills (you were probably in class talking about feelings or something).

Thomas made his comments as dozens of Miami and FIU players stormed the Orange Bowl field and fought during the third quarter of their teams' game Saturday night, an incident that led to the suspension of at least 31 players and forced officials from both schools to publicly apologize for the melee.
"Now, that's what I'm talking about," Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. "You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that.
You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that
thing."
Miami and Florida International have campuses 9 miles apart in Miami-Dade County. It was the first meeting between the two programs, and the Hurricanes went on to win 35-0.
As the fight slowed, Thomas' comments continued.
"I say, why don't they just meet outside in the tunnel after the ball game
and get it on some more? You don't come into the OB, baby," Thomas said. "We've had a down couple years but you don't come in here talking smack. Not in our house."

TGP will admit to the lack of HTTP skillz....

TGP just has the nerds that work for TGP handle such mundane tasks.
