Work Politics Update:

If the LLPP,Inc crew recalls, RT sought counsel in handling an issue with a egotistical, caniving, self-promoting woman he is forced to work with. RT explained how she always is maneuvering for her own benefit and she has the respect of some of the management in the company.  

In the latest development, RT and his peer collaborate to provide sales coverage on an account that this woman is tied to. She loves RT's peer because she hates RT...even though RT is the stud of the operation and provides all the results. NW (nasty wench) sends a note to RT's boss, unbeknownst to RT, mightily singing the praises of RT's peer and what a great job he's doing...no mention of RT. RT's boss and RT are great friends so he told RT about the note to let me know she was up to her old tricks and that he knows the real deal.

So RT's sitting here hacked off over this tactic and wants to call NW to the carpet over it but has not for a variety of reasons. First, he doesn't want to compromise his boss for sharing this when she thought it was in confidence. Second, he doesn't want NW to think RT cares about her tactics...perhaps this is a plant by NW because she assumed RT's boss would share this w/ RT and she wanted to get a rise out of RT?? RT is trying not to act in haste....is RT making more of this than he should? Yes, she is singing the praises of the coworker but she absolutely knows RT's involvement and by going out of her way to single out 1 guy on a joint effort w/ no mention of the other, that is an indictment of RT (in RT's opinion).

RT needs the personnel dept of LLPP,Inc to weigh in....

RT and Work Politics:  RT; ZA had a very similar situation last year.  ZA does not believe you are making too much of the situation.  Situations like that are like diseases that grow out of control...Yet, unlike a disease where one has to act immediately to either control or eliminate it, work place diseases like that do not necessarily mean immediate action.  You are right about her "intent" of complimenting this person without mentioning RT....She has bad intentions in this move...However, the fact that RT has a boss RT can trust, RT should just keep treating those that RT supervises or is responsible for with fairness and respect and use their intrinsic motivation to succeed to RT's benefit and the company's benefit. (and ZA means "use" not in a negative way) ZA feels said person will expose herself as the phony she is....It's when the BOSS IS FOOLED AND INFLUENTIAL THAT WILL TRIGGER A DIFFERENT APPROACH.  BECAUSE WHEN THE BOSS IS FOOLED AND INFLUENTIAL, EVERYONE HE OR SHE IS IN CONTACT WITH, WILL ALSO HEAR ABOUT THE WONDERS OF THIS PITIFUL PERSON, WHO WILL THEN BE THOUGHT OF AS A GREAT EMPLOYEE WHEN SHE IS NOT!  Beat her at her own game, but don't dive into it as a "competition" because you'll lose track ofwhat's important.  And you can't let her know your boss shared that with you....It's great though, your boss sees through it.  She is a "low life" in the business world and there's plenty more where she came from!!!

RT, gro would suggest some "art of war" tactics here. Mainly, to win by avoiding conflict. As long as your boss knows you're money all that noise from NW is just static. Calling her out would only compromise your bosses trust since he told you about the email from NW. Then NW could use that against you in the long run.

be patient, she'll slip up before you do.

No problem RT...But ZA had to learn this the hard way.  ZA dealt with the situation where the dysfunctional underhanded female had talent and skills, but her skills were greatly diminished by the dysfunction she caused in her quest to move up the ladder, not by competing, but by trying to knock someone down a wrung on the ladder through underhanded means.  ZA's boss had the google eyes for said dysfunctional witch and so did another influential person (even though she was nothing to look at) and they constantly promoted her as miss wonderful.  When the boss is fooled, it can be terrible.  However, even then, one has to "hang on".  Because now, as she slowly exposes herself as a "two-face", those that supported her are trying to find a way to remove themselves  from their past support and comments about how wonderful she is, was, etc....

Which means a lesson for all MEN!  IF you have a boss who never had a social life or never had a babe to roll around with....watch out....because ZA's boss was one of those ugly ducklings that lost 125 pounds and somehow thought his fat turned into muscle.  This, along with his status as an administrator, certainly lent itself to bad decisions about certain female employees that only needed to flirt with ZA's boss a little bit. 

Finally, excepting a few people (hate to make generic statements)...BUT....if you have a boss who either never played a sport like football or if not playing, doesn't even like to watch sports....YIKE!!!  MORE TROUBLE!!!!

RT, it might be too late but I have some advice.....

-Its Holloween.  Its perfectly acceptable (and legal) to come to work in nothing but a jock strap, tube socks and maybe an Extra small RPI football T-shirt.  Just wear that, go over to her desk, sit on it and tell her you want to go over some figures with her the rest of the day.....
