Frank, ZA is a very experienced thrower of the darts...and would be a team member, however, relatives from Maryland are flying in for the game and ZA is not sure if ZA "has" to travel with the family after the game to other places...So ZA cannot yet commit.

Rev, ZA was brought up R.C.  ZA is not sure about all this priest and touching kids stuff that is out there...ZA DID indeed get "touched" by the priest many times as an altar boy...But it was in the form of slaps, punches, pushes and even kicks.  ZA fooled around too much in church and was always getting smacked around.

ZA was in a funeral procession holding a large candle, when his brother altar boy made sure the priest wasn't looking and quickly blew out little ZA's candle....ZA got mad, looked around and blew out said brother's candle only to be caught by the priest who was a world war II army chaplain and actually was in the middle of the war.

ZA took a bad beating for embarrassing all altar boys of the world at a funeral.

IS ZA DOOMED TO HELL OR CAN ZA AT LEAST MAKE IT TO PURGATORY?  ZA IS TRULY SORRY...

Gro is getting a little ahead of himself with the whole shoes pregame hype. RPI still has a difficult trip to Rochester to take care of. I mean difficult because  UR plays mind games to throw off their opponents.

back in the day, it had to be the UR coaching staff that suggested that we stay at the hotel across the street of H( . )( . )TERS Rochester. Then the next morning they rigged the cable in the hotel to show nothing but "titanic" on every channel.

By the time we took the field, our insides were being ravaged by chicken wings and bleu cheese and our minds were still haunted with the image of jack slowing sinking to the bottom of the north atlantic. Needless to say, we played a piss poor 1st half (I think that was the game we got the "choo choo" speech from coach king). Lucky for us we ended up winning the game.

Rochester has a lot to play for in this weekend's game.  A win combined with a Hobart win over Union would place it two steps away from winning the LL, believe it or not.  Recapping:  Rochester beats RPI and Hobart, Union loses to Hobart and RPI -- gives Rochester the LL through the tiebreaker against Hobart.  Hobart would win a three-way tiebreaker against Union and Rochester, however, based on its unbeaten out-of-conference record.

So, you're right, Rochester is an important and tough game out at FAUUUUUUVER Stadium.

Sheesh... the only game I saw was the courage bowl but, the thought of UR winning the LL makes my hair stand on end.

Re: Hotels

Reg, RT... when did you guys turn into such high class big ballers?? 1 or 2 nights in a crappy hotel isn't gonna kill you.  Shoes 2004 Gro made the mistake of staying at the ramada in Albany that was right near the bus station. Should have known better than that... right in the middle of crack central station.
The Best Western in Troy might be a crappy hotel... but a bullet proof vest is not requierd and it's right in troy close to delicious wings and beers.

Rt Rev back in a flurry!

Speaking of flurries.....when does the Rt Rev depart for the shores of the Seneca?

Well, well, well - The weather forecast is interesting for Union/Hobart:

Friday - Rain/Snow - High 41/Low 29

Saturday - Few Snow Showers - High 41/Low 31

By the way, Hobart...How about we cut the grass this year?  I don't feel like wearing boots to go interview coaches and talk with players before the game.  Just a thought.

Rev....no need to eat crow when pumpkin ---pie will do nicely. :P

Not a lot of talk so far on the LLPP re: the big Union-Hobart match up.

Here are some initial thoughts:

Keys to the Game (Hobart)

1.  Limit the "Big Three" - Arcidiacono, Marotti and Angiletta (sounds like the cast from the Sopranos no?  Eh, fugeddaboutit!) are going to make big plays.  That's inevitable.  These guys are way too good not to have a few in this game.  What Bart needs to avoid are back breakers like last year's 4th qtr 82 yd td bomb that basically ended the game.  Bart has lived on the "bend don't break" defensive philosophy all season.  This week is no exception.

2.  Create turnovers - one chink in the U's armor is that they are -4 on the season in the Fumble dept.  FR's played a huge role in Bart beating AU last weekend (had a big part in Bart beating RPI as well)

3.  T.O.P. - This season Bart has been averaging about 5 more mins a game in TOP than Union.  Going back to Key #1, the best defense against Union would be to keep their offense (and the 3 Tenors) off the field.  Leveraging clock killing drives with a heavy doses of Blakowski and Gilardi can go a long way towards getting Bart a win.

TGP would love to hear from the Union crowd (Frank?  U89?  dea?) on these points.

Figures Bart would have a major on campus event (Capital Campaign Kickoff) in November.  Why they didn't do it the week after the national kickoff in NYC at the end of September still baffles me.

TGP expects the Boz to be a quagmire (yet again).  Frank, TGP would recommend bringing your boots with you to Geneva.

TGP:

1.  Bart best learn some other names to defend against get caught watching A-train on the ground and waiting for the Italian-American connection, you will get burnt by the other solid athletes (other reciever, tight end). Union fans are more concerned about how Union's young defense will respond and if it can keep you from owning TOP.

2. Can't lose the TO battle in a game like this and come out on top, agreed.

3. Although all of what you said and what bigdvs said above is true, Union could lose TOP and win. (54 yard  trots by arcidiacono take about 15 seconds off the clock)

If its a shootout bigdvs says Union has the better chance of losing TOP but winning. If it is a low scoring affair and Union does not ball control a little Hobart will get to many chances. Either way sticking with the Alma Mater Union 27-Hobart 17. Thats how bigdvs rolls. Later

quit lurkin' LLPP, I see you.

Did anyone know the kid in high school that put so much pressure on him/her self that when they got a 91% on test they would cry? Those kids were hilarious.  Then in college they would still freak out over "slightly above average" scores... only this time they would argue with the professor over partial credit. Those kids were annoying.

Now, in the world of work, there's always some lady crying for some unknown reason. Seriously, what can happen in the normal boundaries of your job that could make you cry?  Gro has been chewed out, called out, underpraised, backstabbed, and thrown under the bus plenty of times... but does that make me wanna close the office door and start sobbing like a 11 year old girl with a skinned knee? I just don't get it.

TGP,

It's actually the Big 4.  You left out Union's other star WR, Ryan Twitchell.

As far as the game, there is no mystery.  Coach Craig will have his defense load up in the box to stop TA, the same as last year in Schenectady.  He will dare Marotti to throw the ball which Marotti did quite effectively last year and in 2004 at the Boz as well.

From Union's standpoint, I believe that the front 7 will slow down Bart's running game leaving it up to Mizro to beat Union thowing the ball and scrambling for yardage which he also did quite effectively last year and in 2004 at the Boz.  Coach Craig will also go deep into his playbook to pull out a few more bizarre plays that Union will have to be watching for....I'm thinking we will see the "fumble-roosky-double-reverse-flea-flicker-hook-n-ladder" play this year from Bart.

In the end, a few big plays will be the difference in the game.  Which team makes those plays remains to be seen.  The likelihood is that it will boil down to the two QB's making plays to their WR's.  A couple of weeks ago, Bart was holding all of the cards.  With Twitchell and Angiletta back and healthy at WR for Union the game becomes a battle.

I have been commenting for some time this year on how valuable Angiletta is to Union.  If you saw last years game in Schenectady you know what I mean.  Consider the play Angiletta made with 3 minutes left in the game.  Union up 21-18 with the ball on their own 20 yard line.  Hobart has everyone within 3 yds of the LOS and on first down they send 8 guys and tackle TA for a 2 yard loss.  On 2nd down against the same defense Union puts Angiletta in motion towards the ball.   On the snap Angiletta puts a quick move on one of Bart's very good cornerbacks to get a stride on him and then runs a skinny crossing pattern at 5 yds.  Marotti holds the ball to the very last minute until he delivers it to Angiletta.  Angiletta gets a great block from Twitchell on the trailing cornerback and then turns upfield against Bart's other very good cornerback and outruns him 82 yards for the TD that seals the game.  There aren't too many receivers in DIII that make that play.

Don't know who has the magic for this years game, but it will surely be memorable no matter who wins.

One other comment on weather.  Rain can turn a field into a swamp and then all bets are off as far as offense is concerned.  However, if we are talking about snow and a frozen field, there are some issues as far as footing is concerned, but in my experience you can still execute your offense and make plays on a snowy field.

Quick query out to LD......

When will you be posting the Shoozapalooza II sign in sheet this year??

Garnet was just talking to Huggy Bear and he said, "the word on the street is that RedSwarm81 and HollaDawg will be doing carbombs in the North Lot on Nov. 11."
