THIS JUST IN FROM THE NEFC BOARD (aka a "LAY-UP".  This post is begging for a Gro-down):

Does anyone notice that NEFC can't even compete in terms of message board posts?  Other conferences have far more activity...Does anyone care about a 16-school conference to make a post or two?

So big NEFC Championship game this weekend and as noted above this board is awfully quiet.........

Can 3 time running champion undefeated Curry beat newcomer to the NEFC  from the bottom of the Liberty League, also undefeated, Coast Guard?

If Coast Guard wins, what does that say about the NEFC?

The fact that they went undefeated thus far already says it.  I am kind of hoping they win.  That will be spectacular.  Every year, you're not quite sure if the NEFC has improved, but this year, it's one of our former own over there, so you just know the NEFC sucks extremely bad.  Of course, once again, unless Coast Guard had a miraculous improvement.  I bet they are a little tougher solely based on having a winning attitude, so they still could be a sleeper.

1 more thing, Coast Guard played the LL foes for a few years, so that experience could give them a slight advantage in the playoffs, in relation to the rest of NEFC who know nothing more than pop-warner football.

Wasn't the Union / PRI rivalry voted to be THE best rivalry in division III?  ZA thought he read that in a DIII.com article at the end of last year...

It would be great to steal (borrow) a digital cable signal and watch the game live and on the Time Warner channel 3 broadcast at the same time and catch the instant replays......ZA was surprised how well they do that broadcast....

ZA is wondering whether time warner will zoom in on a duck the futchmen sign...
Or would that be sensored?

ZA heard Doctor Jackson is going to be interviewed about the game and she will be wearing a duck the futchmen shirt....Is this true?

The following 19 teams are eligible for the ECAC Championships:

Curry   10-0   X
Cortland State   8-1   X
St. John Fisher   8-1   X
Coast Guard   8-1   X
Springfield   8-1   X
Hobart   7-1   X
Ithaca   7-2   X
Bridgewater St.   7-2
Alfred   7-2   X
Rochester   7-2   X
-------------------------------------
Maine Maritime   6-3
RPI   5-3
Endicott   6-4
Husson   6-4
Mass-Dartmouth   5-4
West. New Eng.   5-4
West. Conn.   5-4
Nichols   5-4
Mount Ida   4-4

Teams with an "X" are NCAA Playoff eligible.  However, at least four of these nine teams will make the NCAA Playoffs.  Therefore, teams not listed in the Top 10, denoted by the dashed line, will have to hope for more teams to receive NCAA bids or for the Committee to place a lower-record team above a team above the dashed line in making decisions.

We do know that the Curry-Coast Guard loser will be one of the six teams.  The other five teams are still very much in flux.

Coast Guard wins the NEFC and the NCAA gives 10-1 Curry the C bid... chaos ensues.

Won't happen.  Nine teams in the South have a legit shot for Pool A, B and C bids.  There are arguments that 4-2 Linfield (in-region) will get a Pool C bid out from under one of the more legit Pool C teams, as well.  The South may have to rotate a team up here.

RPI will be so far out front by halftime they may ask 'gro/reg/ld to suit up for old times sake and some good laughs to finish out and bring home da shoes!!!   8)

Well,  Reg made it through day 1 of 1 without the broadband internet card....that was a tough one....I almost had the cops called on me twice for "looking shady" and one guy tried to chase me away from his internet signal with a pitch fork!

PBR, Reg could probably suit up and act all tough (like he did back in the day) but when it comes to putting the rubber to the road, I just don't think its there....I mean, yesterday I had to rake leaves and my lat hurts....as good as it may feel with all the adrenaline running through his body laying someone out, I just don't think I can take it.

Rumor has it that there is going to be an "Old timers day" at the shooesapolooza tailgate, where Reg faces the enginegro in a 1 on 1 showdown to see who the man really is.......

Rumor also has it that Reg is playing for keeps.

Gro will get jerry in the cage to loan us some equipment and we can go head up on the practice field. Don't forget the urban camo bandana.

Gro,

Reg is all about hitting the pavement "old school".  What's the matter, don't want to mess up the pretty face?

This is not meant to be disrespectful in any way as I honestly believe that the emergence of RPI as a football power had more to do with Union's efforts to upgrade their own program over the past 10 years then any single factor.

With all due respect I have to confess that I am a little dissapointed with RPI this year.  At the beginning of the season I picked the Engineers to win the LL, and while I admit that there was a somewhat gratuitous element to that selection, even the RPI folks have to acknowledge some dissapointment with RPI's performance this season.

Last year's battle for the Shoes at Union was for everything and it was a memorable football game.

In all honesty, at the beginning of the season I thought this week's battle for the Shoes would have everything on the line including the league championship and the AQ for the NCAA's.  As it stands, RPI is playing only to get the Shoes back from Coach Audino's dining room table and Union is playing for a higher seed in the NCAA tounament.  Even if RPI wins, I don't think they will receive an ECAC bid with 3 losses.

With the entire offense back running the spread offense as well as any DIII team in the nation and enough defenders to be respectable, I really don't  know what went wrong in Troy this season.  Perhaps some of the RPI faithful have a better insight then I do, but I can not understand why RPI didn't roll over opponents all season long.

TlM, U89 has sympathy for RPI's pathetic performance in '06 as well....

POOR....POOR RPI...... :'( :'( :'( :'(
