................NEWS FLASH. RPI vs. UNION this week and some historical animosities will be resurrected this week.....[/b]

Zack,
RT is at fault for not being clear...RT is referring more to posts earlier in the season on Marotti, not so much on yesterday's posts so RT needs to spell things out better for non-RPI educated folks.

Feel free to dig back several weeks in post patterns..RT is sure you will find mounds of gushing accolades early in the season for Union's big 3 on offense of QB,RB,WR...in fact, those posts spawned RT's poll on who's the top offensive trio in the LL. RT remembers posts describing the U offense as "unstoppable" and Marotti "the best QB in the LL", etc...

Those posts seemed to evaporate in recent weeks....now the U knocks off Hobart and the praise is on the street faster than OJ selling autographs after his acquittal. All RT is saying is that he misses the old banter...things have gotten too cozy, which has been fine with RT for most of 2005. However, the playoffs are starting a week early in NY...

...Karma points should not be up for grabs...but if they must, take them...

RT has already taken some Karma hits today after posting with purpose...

it's all good...RT knows who the real playa's are on PP up in the LL piece...

JT

theoriginalupstate,

JT is lucky... Fiancee wanted to go to the Culinary Institute, parents talked her into a business degree.  She's been working back towards the correct career ever since.  JT's well fed...  JT used to be a workout fanatic.... JT stopped... JT is getting a little too big.  Need to get back into some type of regular thing after the season.

So JT is sitting here, watching the NFL, piecing together the first run through of the ATR.  Fiancee (sexy, awesome cook, etc etc) hands JT some leftovers and says, "Eat this before it goes bad."

First time the phrase is bothering JT.  JT notices:

1) Fiancee never eats from the before it goes bad menu.

2) JT is usually noshing on said food Sunday before garbage day on Monday.

JT is feeling like a garbage disposal, even though the food is great with nary a side affect yet.  Maybe JT needs to get a dog.

Same situation right now, the Wife is at work im watching the lil one and I really do not want to cook anything right now.  So all I am left with is left over chili or a bowl of cereal...If i wasnt 280lbs i'd be withering away to nothing!

RT atually was the roundabout recipient of quality eats today w/ his girl.
Backround:
RT took his B+ game to the RPI tailgate yesterday and managed to down half a gallon of Kettle One under the radar. RT then had 3 post game car bombs and 3 more vodkas at O'Leary's in Troy. Somehow, RT made it home and girlfriend was waiting w/ top notch dinner ingredients. From what RT recollects, he tried to converse intelligently w/ the lady sometime between 6:00-7:00. RT's next recollection is head in toilet...some more haze.....head in the dog bed on the floor....some more haze...then black out until 1:00am. No dinner consumed during said "Led Zeppelin style binge". RT awakes this am, endures full day of cold shoulder from the lady, then makes last night's dinner. RT turns 3 yard loss into a first down.

...are Vanilla Bean donuts on the Adkins?

RT, Zach thinks he "gets it".  RT is looking forward to very aggressive banter, a "reason to live", a "go ahead, make my day" kind of situation....Zach can really anaylze a game, but is too old for the banter you are now looking forward to...Zach will continue to comment on the intricate aspects of the game as that's what Zach is best at...Zach is sure that RPI and Union have plenty of experienced posters to get down and dirty....

However, Zach will defend Union players and coaches if there are personal attacks that go beyond "b__l busting"....

Zach feels he is capable of doing so and enjoys doing so!!!

RPI must be chomping at the bit to have their Spread Offense take the field against a Union D that just gave up more than 400 yards in the air.

Gonna be another 4 quarter game.

The Union Fan

The Union Fan managed to see the Union-Hobart game, and would like to add his two cents.

1.  Mizro is nasty. Better than Swanson as a senior, and better than Cole as a junior.  He throws a very pretty deep ball, throws the short pass with great accuracy.  He is also shifty as all hell.  Union sacked him 5 times, but it would have been (no exaggeration) 15 had it been Swanson back there.  Marotti also looked great out there, but Mizro is probably the best QB in the league.

2. Hobart is an extremely good football team, and belong in the playoffs.  Union Fan has to think Hobart and Union were almost perfectly evenly matched, except that Union had the bigger balls and wanted it more.

3.  This was the most physical game Union Fan has seen in a longtime.  Both teams hit very, very hard, and Union hit harder when it mattered.  Twitchell absolutely leveled the Hobart defender to spring Angiletta on that game-sealing TD--in fact, Twitchell sold out and that block and likely gave himself a concussion.  And whoever leveled Colby Feane on the funble/INT to end the game just destroyed the guy--his body just went limp.  That hit was on par with the Chuck Bednarik-Frank Gifford stick.

4.  Coach Cragg, who looked like a real genuis after faking a punt on his own 1 last year, looked like a dunce out there.  The 4th and goal to end the half was stupid, and there were a number of times when he went for it on 4th down when he should have played field position.  And that bomb pass on fourth and 1--Union Fan would normally be okay with that, except that Hobart decided to run the ball on 3rd and 1 on the previous play.  Union Fan knows from his XBox experience that you always through the boot play action deep on 3rd and 1, and the gut it out on 4th if it doesn't work out.

5. Arcidiacano was the game MVP, despite the fact that Union didn't really use him.  Hobart put 8 (and even 9 on short yardage) in the box on every play, which is why Union hung 28 on them.  They basically dared Marotti to beat them, which he did.  Union Fan thinks it also gave the Union O-line a big shot of confidence to know that Hobart was going to even try to control the line of scrimmage with less than 8.

6.  Union Fan thinks next week will be a war.  If Robertson is as nimble as Mizro, the RPI spread offense could put up some big yardage.  On the other hand, Union Fan thinks that RPI does not match up well to stop Arcidiacano, and since Arcidiacano has more or less had the last two games off (by his standards), that could be major trouble.

7.  Union Fan recalls several folks mocking early statements that Marotti/Angelleti/Arcidiacano were the best QB/WR/RB in the LL or East.  He thinks this has got to be true from a statistical standpoint at the very least.

8.  As for Marotti v. Robertson, we shall see.  Until next week, we know only this: Hobart dared both Marotti and Robertson to beat them.  Only Marotti did.

Zack....RT still not sure you get where RT is coming from. RT is 33, and thus, "older" by this board's standards. RT doesn't view the posts tied to this game is "live or die", Lee Marvin sort of stuff...but he does view the rivalry and this week in particular ,and its implications, as the perfect impetus to bring out the A+++ game in U82, U89, Dawg, Garnet, Gro, Lew, Reg, etc....nothing previous from  this bunch has led me to believe that the board's standards will implode this week.

Also, aren't you being a little overly sensitive/extreme with the statement
However, Zach will defend Union players and coaches if there are personal attacks that go beyond "b__l busting"....
This is a tough rivalry with it's share of ball busting...it comes with the turf in this game.

Does Zack think people here been making those attacks yet? This isn't the E8 board...that being said, RT will share a few feelings specific to RT. RT will harbor no ill will toward any dispute of said assertations;
1) RT doesn't care for the entity that is Union football.
2) RT is not a fan of Coach Audino's
3) RT doesn't think the Union staff or players are looking past this week in the least, however, RT is getting the vibe that other pollsters and fans are already formulating brackets w/ Union in them

Was that too harsh? Is RT going to get a call from his alderman now??

Naked Nott Run

RT gives no love to NNR...

however... RT I honestly feel win or lose this week Union is in... RPI win and RPI and UNION may be facing each other 2 times in 1 season, which would bring the question...do they play for the shoes if they meet in the playoffS???

8.  As for Marotti v. Robertson, we shall see.  Until next week, we know only this: Hobart dared both Marotti and Robertson to beat them.  Only Marotti did.

Let's take these one at a time:

1) Mizro is nasty. ....better than Cole as a junior.
First up, Mizro isn't "nasty"...THESE guys are nasty

Secondly, what about Cole as a senior? NCAA final four and the man that basically was the reason behind the RPI spread....is Mizro that good? Doubt it.
2. Hobart is an extremely good football team, and belong in the playoffs.  RT feels the same for RPI
3.  This was the most physical game Union Fan has seen in a longtime.  And whoever leveled Colby Feane on the funble/INT to end the game just destroyed the guy--his body just went limp.  That hit was on par with the Chuck Bednarik-Frank Gifford stick. RT doesn't believe that the next Chuck Bednarik is on the Union or Hobart roster
4. No comment
5.  RT concedes Union RB is a quality back...is he THAT much better than Bernardo?..RT not ready to concede that.
6.  Union Fan thinks next week will be a war.  If Robertson is as nimble as Mizro, the RPI spread offense could put up some big yardage. Robertson moves around well and seems to be able to avoid the rush. RT's only beef is that RPI seems to play substantially better in the 2nd half and gives RT ulcers waiting for the offense to bust out
7.  7.  Union Fan recalls several folks mocking early statements that Marotti/Angelleti/Arcidiacano were the best QB/WR/RB in the LL or East.  He thinks this has got to be true from a statistical standpoint at the very least.  RT having his secretary pull those numbers to provide a real analysis on this one
8.  As for Marotti v. Robertson, we shall see.  Until next week, we know only this: Hobart dared both Marotti and Robertson to beat them.  Only Marotti did  RT lost alot of respect for the Union Fan with this point...how on earth can you make this claim? Just because Hobart won in 3OTs?? Do you even know the stats from that game?? RT annoyed he has to go dig them up for you now but off the top of RT's head, he is pretty sure Robertson threw 5 TDs and had like 400 yds that game but will confirm. How on earth is that "not beating" the Hobart D by Robertson? Wake up

RT hasn't given this one alot of thought but it's not too far fetched...RT believes a 9-1 UNION could make the dance if RPI wins next week. As far as the shoes....good question. RT thinks that should only be a regular season affair...maybe something new is created...say, the "Petrified Meat Patty" trophy

zachattack22

RT, Zach is not too sensitive and is looking forward to the upcoming posts....We are not the E-8 for sure...Zach is referring to posts many weeks ago that were more personal in nature toward Union's coach and someone stated no one ever defends Audino...So, back then, Zach did so....Zach does not think any of RT's posts are "too harsh"...Actually, Zach enjoys reading them!
