Is anyone else a homeowner like RT? For the last few years, RT has lived in a townhouse and always traveled on major holidays to see family...so RT never had to get any substantial Xmas decorations. Well, RT moved to his new house last Jan and has been acquiring all the big ticket items he didn't have before (ie, dining room furniture, spare bedroom furniture, etc).

Well, RT and his lady have decided they're hosting Christmas this year...so this weekend (when not following football) has been spent shopping for an artificial tree, ornaments, and all the other associated decorations. HOLY CRAP!!! Since yesterday, RT has shelled out close to $500 and doesn't quite believe we're done yet. RT never paid attention to how much this junk costs and questions the sanity of these traditions now that he's spending money to be part of the commercial mass.

RT is afraid to start Christmas shopping....she wants a nice camera. The one she wants (the Nikon D70) is a ridiculous amount of money...and this is for starters. Yeah...RT is REALLY glad football is over....NOT!!!! That means RT has no excuse to avoid this crap

Tough break RT - now what can you use for an excuse??? I live in a townhouse w/ my other half as well... I'm actually starting the exact same process you are with getting all new xmas decorations etc... Do you live in Rochester?

Also, artificial tree?!? Dude, a real tree is the only way to go during Xmas!

RT grew up in Rochester and parents & many friends there but RT lives in Saratoga Springs.

On the real tree...do the math, man. You'll spend $60 on a real tree every year.  Then you have to water it and clean up all the needles. RT travels alot and doesn't like to be responsible for watering said tree..this is why RT doesn't even keep plants in the house. Also, RT doesn't want to clean up needles or have his labrador retriever eating them off the carpet. The artificial trees look good nowadays, have the lights pre strung, and pay for themselves in a few years. Maybe someday RT will mix it up and get one but for now, we're going w/ the silicone boobs...

ps, try Target for xMas stuff...they were great today

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Portgrad2004 loves tar-gay, and agrees that the Real Trees aren't worth the work...Of course now living in Florida, the options are pretty limited.

true...but RT doesn't even have to leave the house anymore to lose that kind of scratch. RT likes to use www.youbet.com to play the ponies b/c RT can play mutliple tracks at once and also watch the live feed from the tracks right on his laptop. RT also subscribes to the Daily Racing Form online but also goes to the corner store to pic up the paper copy and some coffee every morning....RT is, after all, a traditionalist.

Yes...RT has a problem....

I was sniffing 10!!! I got pounded for my arguments with Frank a few days ago I guess... I'm thinking the LLer's were catching up on the reading and had a quick trigger finger.
