The Truth 00

don't even go there capt. partridge...that conference is horsecrap. they can NEVER be involved in any talk regarding "better" conferences until they can compete in the postseason...which will never happen. trinity's winning streak the last few years was impressive for nescac standards but wouldn't hold up if they played some "real" teams.

PBR...

supermike your wrong on your statement about kids going div I schools just to turn pro pbr knows many who went after academics first and athletics second  in div I

That's an argument for a different day.  I was taking Superman's argument to its logical conclusion.

really PBR if USC was offering you the oppurtunity to play QB and Harvard was offering you the same offer would you choose USC or Harvard....and maybe USC is not the best example but what about Memphis or West Virgina...

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

With the brass ring of pro sports contracts a long shot at best, going D1 just for athletics is a waste of time and money, except for those very few exceptional athletes that get the nod or are elite enough to get noticed or work hard enough to earn the shot at the pros. Athletics can get a student into college and assist them financially in terms of scholarship, but in today's economy, it just does not make sense that the norm is athletics first, school second.

Um, if I could get into Harvard, I wouldn't have thought twice about.  Another dumb argument.  Most top D1 recruits aren't Harvard(or Ivy League) material.

a lot of people go for academics but they go where there offered a full scholarship...but would you choose a poor academic school that is going to give you the chance to win or a great academic school where your team is going to suck...IE be QB at Duke or be QB at Miami

And those that are, will likely not want to damage their gary matter getting knocked around in the head each week! ;D

I loved the Rev's warm comments concerning Cortland. To be honest, I expected RPI to bury them. I did not expect Union to lose, nor lose in that fashion. Hobart played well this year, and it is too bad it ended early.
For those of you wondering if Hobart will have 10 games, next year's schedule has 10!

Sep. 8  at Dickinson
       15 Carnegie Mellon
       22 Rensselaer
       29 at WPI
Oct.  6  at Susquehanna
       13 Merchant Marine
       20 St. Lawrence
       27 Alfred
Nov.  3 at Union
       10 at Rochester

Not too bad...competition against 3 teams that made the NCAA tourney this year, 3 teams that made ECAC's. Look forward to another exciting year!

Looks like a 7-3 or, at best, an 8-2 season.  They best win the LL.  This is an instance where that 10th game has only a marginal benefit and a lot more risk.

are you saying that miami isn't a great school and they are a place where you can go and win or did i read that wrong superman? miami is a great academic school and...they also teach you how to fight.

Well, that is the quandray, since I hate Miami, and am not very fond of Duke either (ACC bias, except for UVA). If the QB is good, he will have multiple choices, with similar amounts. Also, keep in mind, going to a school like Miami is not a guarantee you will make the team or stay on the team. More likely at Duke, in your example.

Something tells me the QB at Duke isn't as good as the QB at Miami, and probably has a cleaner permanent record...unless he plays lacrosse too...

Every year, the pundits have predicted a 7-3 or worse when the Statesmen graduate key players, and this has not been the case. Mike Cragg and the coaching staff keep bringing in the talent. We will have to see how things go next season. Union will have a lot of new faces at key positions next year, as well.

OUCH! :o

Miami has some good programs for students but overall they aren't a great school
