You are right, and I also apologize for taking a cheapshot.  Its like someone said on these boards one time how posters look like a-holes on here but are good guys in real life.  Sometimes these mean-spirited words get in the way.  Please dont ever take anything I say on here too seriously, as they are mostly sarcastic and not intended to be mean spirited.

That being said, please go punch yourself in the face.

Out of curiosity...

Why is the SJF celebration/trash talk going on in the LLPP?  The E8PP is right around the corner.
Because this is where RT lives

Believe me man, RT can find messages about him in the E8 boards if he wants to.  Learn to win humbly.  I predicted the win yesterday during the broadcast (predicted SJF 25-20 to be exact) and I'm not doing cartwheels on here today.  Chill bro.

Again out of context...I am not doing cartwheels about any predictions I made...I merely posted to RT about HIS predictions last week.

Why is everyone so damn sensitive about me posting to RT about his predictions....and telling 'posters' to win humbly is silly....the guys on the field are supposed to line up and win humbly...like I used to...on here I get to be a pompus ass when SJF WINS!!!

Fans represent a program as much as the players when the fans want to go and spout off.  Lead by example to the student-athletes on the field that you need to win, celebrate with the ones that matter to the program, and prepare for the next hard battle.  Trash talking wins a program no friends and soils a playoff game in which the participants both have excellent resumes.  There's no need for it by anyone, on or off the field.  There's a difference on these boards between playfulness and ridiculousness -- and you've been crossing it.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

[/qu  Enough of the posturing Frank...the problem with these boards is when guys think that they are bigger than what they really are in their posts...posts are just  that...we are not examples to anyone in  here so lets stop pretending that anyone cares about this other than for some fun, socializing and trashtalking.

I respect what you do on the radio because that serves a real and true purpose but please 'Dad' do not lecture me I have been on the field and in 'here' and understand and know where the line is...they are the ones that say '5', '10'....'50' and endzone

They don't normally mark the 5-yard line with a "5" -- You sure you played?

It's the attitude you're putting forth that makes people like Michael Richards think that they can go out and act like fools because "nobody of meaning is watching/listening" - In this world of YouTube and camera phones, everything you say and do matters and is fair game.  I think these boards apply to that same characterization.  This is why coaches pretty much forbid players from writing on these boards.

This argument is pretty pointless guys.

Any truth to the rumor on the relegation of the Liberty League to the NAIA?

I guess given how poor these teams have done in the post season I can see why the argument is being made.

ZA finally back home after a great thanksgiving holiday....Went to LA with the family and toured universal studios, city walk, etc....gained at least nine pounds!!!! Feel like a blob....

Not surprised by SJF's win over Springfield....IF Union played any kind of defense against Springfield, they would have walked away with a win....Union scored on them almost at will and put up a lot of yards of offense...But, defense wins games, especially in the playoffs and SJF obviously has a great defense.

Was a bit surprised at Rowan's win, but ZA doesn't know enough about the other team Rowan played.

Being selfish toward Union, it's good for Union if SJF goes deeper into the playoffs....IF you're going to end your season being routed, it looks better to be routed by a team that goes deep or all the way into the playoffs....Looks good for Hobart too....ZA is sure they're not happy with their loss, but the further Rowan goes, the more proud they can be that they held their own and came so close to winning.

But trying to compare teams through mutual matchups is difficult....Union beat Hobart....Would Union beat Rowan?  Would Hobart get beat by SJF worse than Union did?  No one can predict because it all comes down to how the team performs when it matters and how much they're improving as the season is coming to the wire....

And, it appears that SJF and Rowan are performing when it matters most.  Good luck to them.

Frank Rossi

Here were the final results of the Hobart-Rowan Poll:

Scenario:  Team A is down by 7 points to a favored Team B with just less than two minutes left.  Team A scores a touchdown and decides to go for the two-point coversion.  Ignoring whether Team A makes the conversion, it is:

A wise coaching decision   7 (24.1%)

An unwise but gutsy coaching decision   14 (48.3%)

An unwise and cowardly coaching decision that might be appropriate in some situations (i.e., bad kicking game or conditions)   4 (13.8%)

Completely inappropriate unless the extra point is botched   4 (13.8%)

Total Voters: 29

Pretty much, the winning answer is somewhere in between my opinion and Radiomike's opinion, which doesn't surprise me.  I was a little surprised to see that 8 people placed it in the "cowardly" or "inappropriate" column.  While I agree with inappropriate, not many people feeling this were raising their voices.  Thanks for everyone who participated.

The way post-season play has panned out so far does not surprise The Rev.

Is anyone really surprised by how the post-season has turned out so far?

Have there been any major upsets?

SJF is a solid team and doesn't come as a huge surprise that they beat Union or (less so) Springfield.  Sure, it wold have been nice for Union to win and represent the LL, but considering that they lost to Springfield and RPI it is really no shock.:  Springfield lost only to Ithaca, and SJF only to Springfield.

As it turns out, the D3 Top 25 poll is rather accurate.  Big ups to The Guru for having a statistical tool that works well.
Viz.,  Week 11:

1   Mount Union
2   UW-Whitewater
3   Wesley
4   Capital
5   Mary Hardin-Baylor
6   Hardin-Simmons
7   UW-La Crosse
8   Whitworth
9   Central
10   Occidental
11   Wilkes
12   St. John's
13   Rowan
14   Cortland State
15   Springfield
16   St. John Fisher
17   Bethel
18   Wheaton
19   Hobart
20   Washington and Jefferson
21   Linfield
22   Union
23   Concordia (Wis.)
24   Carnegie Mellon
25   St. Norbert

By "expected" I mean that assuming one expects #1 to beat #2, #2 to beat #3 as a general rule, not accorded to particular match-ups, stat-for-stat, because the rankings have all of this worked out as part and parcel of the rank assigned.

round one:
#13 Rowan beat #19 Hobart. Expected.
#16 SJF beat #22 Union. Expected.
#15 Springfield beats unranked Curry.  Very expected.
#11 Wilkes beats unranked Washington and Lee.  Very expected.

round two:

#13 Rowan beats #11 Wilkes.  Slightly unexpected.
#16 SJF beats #15 Springfield. Slightly unexpected.

Interesting: The teams that won in round two, faced strong challengers in round one.  Whereas the losing teams in round two faced rather unchallenging teams in round one.

This coming week, The Rev expects that

  • Mt. Union will beat Capital
  • Mary Hardin-Baylor will beat Wesley
  • Wisconsin-Whitewater will beat St. John's (MN), and
  • Rowan will beat SJF.

But the Rev is not predicting anything at all shocking.  Somebody feel free to -K me for stating the obvious.
