I heard they were actually changing the team name to the Boston Nippon Ham Yellow Sox of the Rising Sun Spicy Tuna Rolls.

You know that guy has a noodle for an arm right?  He's got good movement to his pitches but has no gas what so ever!

He can't be any worse than Matt Clement.

As much as Tags hates to say it, that's a true statment

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

The Sox couldn't go after someone they know can pitch in the majors, oh, say a Barry Zito.

Tags wonders what the conversation was that day:

Theo: We need pitching
Larry: Yes, Zito's on the market but he'll be asking a ton
Theo: Theo has just the solution, and it will only cost us $51 Million for the rights to talk to him on the phone.

:-[

honestly matuzaka is way better then Zito will ever be... and after that the sox are going to have one hell of a rotation...as long as they don't lose their heads...I mean Schilling, Burnett, Papplebon, Clement and Matuzaka...insane and I'm a yankees fan

Josh Beckett haha - Tags had to say it Superman. I'm a sox fan so had to take the opportunity to get at you :)

The Truth 00

i'd rather have daizuke than zito....zito would be too busy playing concerts in boston on his offdays.

Tags

Would get 15 wins for a hell of a lot less money.

The Truth 00

who cares about the money that much though? john henry doesn't...look at 5 years, 70m for a nonner like jd drew. then they're going to lower their cap by getting rid of the best right handed hitter in the game. i love the sox....but i would think 8 times about trading manny and getting rid of him for 60 cents on the dollar in return.

Manny is a cancer to the team & he quit on them. Tags doesn't care how good you are that means you have to go.

And Drew will be a .280 hitter who will be just as good as Nixon - Tags thinks you're forgetting the $51 Million was for the RIGHTS to talk to him. Now they'll have to sign him for huge money also.

Now that's foolish. And Henry needs to stop spending so much, his Investment business isn't doing very well.

Not ONLY is this a baseball conversation, but it is also occurring on the LL Board with ALL E8 posters! Lovely!

The Truth 00

well you see, the sox have all the leverage with that 51 million offer. the most i think matsuzaka will get per year is 10m, not bad for a frontline future ace of the staff. he doesn't want to go back to japan so if the yearly money isn't enough for him, the sox can ask seibu for money to help cover the yearly deal, thus reducing that 51 million. i do agree that its a lot of money to bid just to negotiate with a guy but it could be worth it in the long run. if this guy is winning 20 games in a year or 2 and the sox are in the pennant chase, that 51 million will be water under the bridge. and who cares about jd drew hitting 280? yea he's better than trot but he's still making 15 mill a year, almost the same or more than ortiz.  last, who cares about henry's firm? he's the principal owner of one of the most financially successful teams in mlb.

The Truth 00

and sorry this baseball talk is engulfing the board right now
