From the mouths of those that couldn't give a **** about football:

FMJT: Mount Union won again? This Stagg Bowl thing must be getting tired for everyone else in the country.

JT: Uh huh.

JT Tags can relate - Tags heard similiar comments from FMTags at about 4:30 PM this afternoon:

Hey guys.....how about those rookies....why are they so good.?  The money is so serious now, that they have to produce"

Rumor has it that Faulk is going to teach Gumble ebonics during the next commercial break.

BTW - how funny is that Viagra commercial where the guy puts a VHS tape in to record the game so we can take his blue pill to get it on with his lady?

Hasn't the 50+ crowd heard of a DVR or Tivo yet?

Is there any surprise that these type of things happen in the NBA and when Miami football plays?  You get a bunch of guys that should probably be in jail together, and hell is gonna break loose at some point.

Carmelo was such a little b!tch though.  He threw a flailing punch then ran like hell.

Wow - living in Japan I am always behind the posting curve - especially since you guys are such prolific posters.

Regarding the Stagg Bowl - I was sorry to see MUC win - AGAIN.  Just what D-III does not need - more of the same.  That said, for most of the game - they brought their "A" game which is how you win championships, again and again and again and, well, we all get the point by now.

As already discussed, the UWW - QB overthrew many of his WRs and his TE.  He seemed like he was pressing to make it all happen in one play - which is not how you effectively compete when you are behind against a very talented opponent.  There were times when it was 3rd and long and the pass of high probability was overlooked for what appeared to be a "Hail Mary" approach to stick management.

Now - wrt to the NBA - players make so much money that fines and suspensions will not have a chilling effect - a banishment or beheading might.  The NBA plays so many games, lets so many teams into the playoffs, that many of the regular season games have little impact on the final outcome.  So what is all the fuss about?  Posturing and some weird sort of gangsta mentality - it all sounds like false machismo to me, particularly given the punch and run approach demonstrated.

I say, get a ring, some gloves, and let them whail away for 15 rounds - now that would be worth paying for - even in Japan.  Otherwise - tell them to pick up a shovel and try digging ditches or doing two or three tours in Iraq for kicks.  Sheesh - to whom much is given . . .

Congrats again to MUC and to SJF for a very, very good year.

Good call on Mello.  That was the biggest fairy punch of all time.  I mean seriously, #1 I can't even believe a punck like that outta left field connected #2 I cant believe it put the other cat DOWN!!!

Reg was like..."man mello punches like a clown....OH NO, that knocked him down???? What is this amature hour?"

Will the pollsters bump SJF to #2 in the country? Reno thinks that it is a deserved ranking......

Historically with polls, unless there is a win by the #3 team and simultaneous loss by a #2 team, the #2 team will remain #2 with a loss.  So, I doubt SJF moves to #2 to end the season...but honestly, is there a huge difference?  Nah...#1 to #2/#3 is about the same distance in terms of end-of-season feelings.  Just to back this up, take a look at the initial reaction to the OSU/Michigan game, when Michigan remained #2 across-the-board until the Urban Meyer banter took hold for a couple weeks.

SJF stil deserves an enormous amount of respect, regardless of ranking.

Where are you coming up with that? I can see MTU 1 and UWW 2, but I think you would have to put Fisher 3 and Wesley 4...
