Today's Bart fun fact:

The movie Crank (currently featured as today's banner ad on D3Fb.com) was written and directed by Hobart alum (and former WR on the Bart FB team) Mark Neveldine.

WOW!

Mark and The Rev were in the same "Performing Shakespeare" class in The Rev's senior spring semester.  We took a road trip up to Stratford, Ontario to see Twelfth Night at the annual Shakespeare Festival up there.

good times.  Mark is a good dood.  Kappa sigma, but one of the token non-meatheads.

Today the Rev finished the first draft of his thesis prospectus (first three chapters) and sent it to his committee chair for corrections.  the Rev is celebrating by eating a whole pizza and drinking beer while watching Dr. 90210 and Girls Next Door.

When the Rev submits the corrected draft to his committee and they sign off on it, he will celebrate by buying the Girls Next Door First Season Uncensored DVDs, a gallon of Aveeno handcream, and a gross of paper towels.

When the Rev's thesis is complete and he successfully defends later this spring, he will celebrate by doing an all-day trip to Asia Town Massage parlor....

...because finishing off will certainly be a happy ending.  C'mon!

Notre Dame earns a share of a dubious record tonight with its ninth consecutive bowl loss (tied with South Carolina and West Virginia), losing to LSU 42-14.  Anyone think this streak is related to the idea that Notre Dame, because it retains its status and independence, is playing in bowl games that, in any given year, are above the team's capabilities?  Or is this just bad luck?

In terms of probability, the chances of a team losing nine consecutive games, assuming a 50/50 chance for the team to win in each of those nine games, is slightly less than 0.2% (1 in 512).

Pat Coleman

That's some of it but I think there have only been one or two instances in the past 14 years or so where Notre Dame has turned down a lower bowl bid.

It's not Notre Dame's fault that the Sugar Bowl wanted them there for the paycheck.

Doesn't mean they're not overrated, though. :)

and thats why the bowl system sucks. The only good thing that happened last night is that Brady Quinn got a dose of what to expect from life with the oakland raiders... losing.

ND just fell apart last night. The turning point it this game was when LSU had the ball stripped and ND recovered but then the ref reversed the call.  By the way anytime you can squeeze a football and see it dent you have established possesion.   I cant believe they reversed it.  What the Eff are these replay refs looking at ?  But you can see from that point on ND had no answer.

there were a ton of bad reviews in the bowls this year. In the same ND game where the LSU DB had a pick near the goal line, the ball never touched the ground. It was clear as day on the replay, even Terry Bradshaw saw it.

There was a similar play in the nevada/miami game where a player trapped the ball between his calves as he was falling down then grabbed it with his hands. Gro could do the same if he didn't have legs like toothpicks.

"That doesn't make sense."     Ball did hit the ground on the int.  TB and HL are looking at a 18in screen when they broadcast these games.  Ox watches on a 10 foot HD projection screen.   Only the tip of the ball hit though.    TB was looking at the forearm not near the elbow where the ball hit the ground.   He kept saying that it was his forearm not the ball.

Gro you are right about the reviews this yr alot of the replays are called based on perception so it goes either way.  But the possession thing bothers ox.
