GRO: Break it down for TDT, why are you such a rabid KC Chiefs booster?  Is it the BBQ?  The Blues?  Arrowhead?

This is the ultimate example of why Reg dislikes any team from the boston area so bad.  Noone is allowed to say anything negative about the team without people diving to the rescue and defending said team as it is their god given duty.

I mean come on guys....loosen up a bit.....

If someone trash talked a school like RPI, I would acknowledge their point and either leave it be or try to give my viewpoiint.....

To a Boston fan, it is like you guys shower us with how your teams are the best teams to ever play the game and when somoene tells you that they like someone else, you cover your ears screaming "LA LA LA LA, I cant hear you" crap an 8 year old would pull.
So in general, I don't dislike Brady...because I bet he is a pretty cool cat....I dislike the fans point of views.

That's bullsh!t.  Like whoever you want.  If you have a valid point, then make it.  But no one has made a valid point.  The Patriots are lucky.  The Patriots are boring.  Brady sucks.  Sound a little subjective to me.  The OBJECTIVE part, is that they won 3 Super Bowls in 5 years...and counting...and are in the AFC Championship again.  I don't care who you like.  THat's what fans are for, but idiotic statements like Superman saying Brady sucks, well thats just moronic.  I mean, I say Jeter is gay, but I wouldn't say he sucks.  I could argue that people are better, and give good arguments, but to say he's lucky or he sucks(at baseball, not Johnny's Fungo Bat), that would be retarded, like most of what i've read.

Oh, another reason to add to my list....a bostonian will ALWAYS have the last word.

The only reason why Gro is a fan is because when normal kids bought starters, they got the team they liked....Rumor has it that Gro was forced to wear a Chiefs starter because "It was on sale"  (this just happened to be in the middle of summer).  Rumor has it that Gro lost 15 pounds and was labeled the "schweaty kid" by former classmates

Gro denys this and told me it's because he "thinks he looks like Christian Okoye"

I agree with LD11.
Jeter sucks and Damon swallows, but neither player sucks a$$ on the field. Damon IS a traitor though... Go Sox!

'gro

Gro thinks that he made a good point in calling the pats boring. LD calls it tactical and he's right. The pats play sound, fundamental, mistake free football (remember my list of pet peeves? the pats do none of them).  That's why they remind me of the san antonio spurs. They don't do anything spectacular except win championships.

Tim Duncan, one of the best players in the league
Tom Brady, one of the best QB's in the league

neither trash talk much or call attention to themselves, which is good because gro doesn't like over the top "me first" players either. Point being, try to take the fan part out of it. If you weren't really into the NBA, but someone offered you season tickets to any team (don't factor in location)... would you pick the spurs?  Probably the suns or the heat. What unbiased NFL fan is going to pick the pats? not too many.

once again, take the fan part out of it... that's all gro is saying. relax, the pats are good... and boring!!

'gro

Maybe some of you have gone through this when you were younger. Somewhere around age 5-9 you pick a team out of the blue and start to follow them. Most times it's the team that wins the super bowl, which is why some of my friends have been lifelong bears or 49ers fans (that bears superbowl is the 1st one that I can really remember). Well your boy gro just took a liking to the Chiefs and Derrick Thomas, Christian Okoye, and Neil Smith (who later defected to the f-ing broncos). The Joe Montana days were fun too.

Henceforth, gro selected #35 to wear at the section II all star game to honor the nigerian nightmare, and considered wearing #58 in college but #98 came with a sweet corner locker he couldn't pass up.

TGP hears Gro on this one.  Being from the middle of no-where CT, there were no specific NFL teams staking a claim in the area.  Pats sucked (back then anyway), but got somewhat of a nod b/c of the family's Red Sox ties.  Lots of NYG and NYJ fans in the area as well as the Steelers, Dallas, etc.

Needless to say, being a kid with limited FB knowledge, TGP took a liking to the Vikes (back then they were pretty much the Red Sox in helmets anyways - good talent, always choked in the big game).  This liking also coincided with Chris Doleman, Keith Millard and co absolutely killing opposing offenses on D back in the day.  TGP was just learning the game and really dug the DE position.  Needless to say, #56 on the Vikes had something like 22 sacks that season and TGP became a fan.

However, given the Korey Stringer, Love Boat, Whizzinator, Tice ticket scalping incidents (to mention a few) in recent years, TGP is no longer a fan of the Vikes and mostly follows the NFL for "recreational" and FF purposes.

Still, how is a 8 pt comeback victory late in the 4th qtr boring?  Just b/c it was the Pats?

Wow,
Garnet is feeling old.   The first SB 'Gro remembers is the Bears victory over the Patriots.  TGP talking aout Doleman and Millard as the players of the day during his youth.

Garnet grew up watching Tarkenton, Griese, Swann blah blah blah old guys blah blah blah.

Oh yeah, RT here is a little something to get your spirits up, maybe something else too.

Man, you're old.

superman57

my theory on the teams that you like is A)if you have a family alliance you will become a fan of those teams, hands down...and I have absolute respect for these people.... B)your young your family does not like sports, you do, you chose who you see, so it tends to be local...IE why I grew up to be a yankee fan...growing up in upstate NY you can't not see the yankees... C)you choose a certain player that you love and you follow that team because that player is awesome for me it was Emmitt Smith and Charles Barkley...D) your a tool and you become a red sox fan because at the time it is the cool thing to do...now this does not mean I think all red sox fans all tools cuz my brother and sister in laws family are all red sox fans because all of them grew up in the New England area,

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

and Brady got lucky because SD played stupidly....Brady did not deserve to win that game...but the Chargers gave him the oppurtunity to get back in the game
