Gro's cousin is a NYS trooper and the decision to ticket/fine is all in their hands. Wearing a purple tie, not their decision. Basically,  if you don't act like a d!ck and have a clean record you are usually ok.

Rev, that's the best thing about the south (that and biscuits and gravy). 80 is pretty much standard on the interstate.

realistic

in and around nyc is like that as well....as long as traffic is moving at all, that is.  80-90 is standard, I think the cops are just happy to see traffic moving at all.  Once you get out into Weschester, Orange, etc...it can get ugly.  I have seen troopers ever 5 miles or so on 17.

KS doesn't understand how anyone can be dumb enough to mouth off to a judge.

Maybe they are trying to get their money's worth.

JT's pretty good.  Usually never the fastest guy on the road, but right behind him.  Proper 'tude and right time of the month (yes they have quotas, watch out EOM) get one far.

JT learned a long time ago.  Dome light on, windows down, hands on wheel when pulled over.  Had an Arkansas trooper put a 9mm to JT's head back 1991.  JT was pulled over, then JT started fishing for paperwork in the glove box.... big mistake.

Also helps to have the PBA stuff, not the **** you get in the mail, but the real stuff that only officers and troopers give out.  JT has a few friends that are NJ troopers.  JT's license is tucked right behind a NJ State PBA card.

Superman used to  work at a reststop on the NYS thruway and we had a deal with the troopers they got what ever they wanted for free and for the most part if they pulled us over they would let us go...good deal

NJ Troopers are the real deal.  They are legit and usually commonsense and good people.  Conn State troopers are the biggest losers on the planet.  I got an $85 ticket back in 1999 or so for a frickin broken tailight.  What a bunch of losers.

Touchdown Tommy

TDT has been pulled over 2 or 3 times (all back in MN).  He got off scotch free with just a minor scolding/warning.  TDT believes that the states with the highest taxes are also the most stringent on drivers.  More funds=More Troopers/Cops=More Patrol=More Tickets, Here in South FLA on I-75 if you aren't cruisin' at 80 you are putting yourself in danger and getting lots of birds.  Rarely see someone pulled over or troopers hiding in the medians.  Bottomline is if you use some common sense which TDT knows the LLPP has lots of, you shouldn't get pulled over very often.

Also, do all states have this "points" system?  I don't think we had such a thing in MN, but have heard about it extensively here in South FLA.  Can someone explain the in's and out's of the logistics?

BTW: Where is LD11?  Still mourning/pouting over Peyton's beatdown on Sunday?  Tix for SB are starting at 3700 for upper level endzones (EngineGro is this where you guys sat for the Pats/Fins game?) and up to 19K for the "Legends Suite".  Rediculous, TDT thinks Mike Tice is living large this year...

TDT we were in the upper level around the 10 yard line.  If you're heading that way in 2 weeks you're better off hitting the ft. lauderdale scene. A little less trendy than Man-ami.

Gro just remembers being at a bar with LD11 and Johnny U in Ft.L. Gro see's a guy who looks just like Dallas Mavs owner Mark Cuban.

Gro yells out "CUBAN!!"... then realizes that the bar has about 40 actual cubans, who all turn their heads gro's way.

I think thats pretty much a given in most states.  My sister makes my parents use her car when they visit Vermont so they are less likely to be pulled over.

Doesn't that assume you're stopped only in that jurisdiction, though?  I think the Troopers had the advantage on that deal, since I've seen them put a-hurtin' on Upstate Dunkin' Donuts.

It'll be interesting to see how the NJ Turnpike is run re: troopers if and when it is privatized.  Was reading an article earlier today of how states are selling off assets like their lottery systems (Illinois charging $10 billion for a 75-year privatization agreement for theirs) -- and it mentioned that NJ was seeking to shop the Turnpike.  Perhaps they'll use rent-a-cops to ticket you -- or maybe remove the speed limit altogether?  Not like you can go fast at the Exit 9 "Merge" anyway...
