Gro's got this soapbox rented out for another 30min so he just wants to reiterate his pride in RPI... before that just want to say that Union and Hobart are still playing and hopes both teams get it done this week and meet up at the Frank for the East final. yeah LL.

Now back to RPI azz kissing... Since 1992, 14 seasons

105-32 record
2 Undefeated Regular Seasons (99, 01)
1 DIII Lambert Trophy (03)
3 NCAA Playoff berths (99, 01, 03)
1 NCAA East Reginal Championship (03)
1 NCAA #1 Seed (01)
4 UCAA Titles (97-99, 01)
6 ECAC Titles (92, 93, 95, 97, 02, 05) 6-0 in ECAC games
5 Shoes Trophy Victories vs. Union (92, 97, 99, 01, 03)
11 Transit Trophy Victories vs. WPI (93, 94, 97-05)
11 Shotglass Trophy Victories vs. Coast Guard (92-96, 98, 99, 02-05)
AND...
11 of 14 seasons with no more than 2 losses.

That's the good, there is some bad (2 NCAA 1-and-dones, 3-6 in 2000). This is not a program on the rise, RPI is one of the best programs in the East.

THATS ALL, NO MORE AZZ KISSING UNTIL '06!!

ok, my two cents for what its worth.

Great game today, Union was the better team.  Hell of a game.  Ithacas defense had absoutly no answer today.  I wish it did snow 4 feet, Unions rb or wrs might have slipped or something.

Unions oline deserves more credit than I think Ive heard anyone give them this year.  Those guys held Ithacas passrush to absoutly nothing.  Even when Ithaca sent an extra guy or two, the Union qb had absoulty all day to throw the ball.  Unions oline was the best part of both teams today.  Two of their tds were because the oline gave the qb so much time he was able to throw across the field like a 6th grade two hand touch game.

Unions qb was second.  That guy threw maybe 4 bad passes the whole game and he made amazing decisions.  When IC was about to hit the guy, he made a great throw.  He was calm, smooth and clutch.  also two great throws to #1 in the beginning and to #6 all day.

#6 wr for union was great all day too.  Unions wrs were wide open and they picked the Ithaca D apart.  Fantastic one handed catch by #6 down by the scoreboard late in the game...and another fantastic throw and catch by #1 in for unions first td.

#1 was also amazing.  He didnt even have to run over people as noone even could get a clean shot at him.  Ithacas defense was horrible but unions oline made them that way.  #1 could cut back, and he hit the whole hard.  Not that fast, but he can run.  Hes as good as they come

For the bombers, Ill tell ya what.  Baez was amazing.  He is one of the best runners Ive seen at d3 and he had a hell of a game.  Felliceti was also on his mark today and had a great game.  The bombers oline and wrs were great the whole time and the special teams were great too.  Great offensive show today for the bombers, you couldnt ask for more.

A few points on the game....

Ithaca should have gone for it that time around the 35.  Maybe twice they should have gone for it.

Unions kicker cant kick it past the 10, so he should be squibing it everytime anyway.  Lets not forget that the ncaa only lets these teams suit up 46 or so players, so Im sure all of the special teams were different today.  That should answer the questions about the special teams.

Is it an ncaa rule that if the ball goes out of bounds on a kickoff that the ball is automatically at the 35?

Union fans were great, nice faciltity but I dont think I could stand the whole game on a hill on the ten yard line.  I was lucky to get a seat right in the middle of Union fans.  Funny, the ithaca fans cheered the whole game and the union people around me were gettin so pissed off, and the taunting back was so immature and funny, I cant even discuss it now.   Ill wait untill I have more time.  Funny stories there though.

I also noticed that the Union defense started to taunt the Ithaca fans after the game while the union o was on the field.  Did they know that they were the 2nd worst defense in the country today?

Whats with schenectady and all these oneway streets?  And no left turn onto Union St from the stadium?  I almost crashed into a funeral cutting through that church parking lot only to find my way back to beautiful eastern ave.....

In all seriousness, great game, nice campus and I actually had a good time.  Good luck Union, but I dont think that defense can stop these playoff teams.  Good luck trying.

Heres what I said first union89, you probably didnt read it.  And whats so wrong about what I said in my other post?  I even said the ll was better than the E8.  Its still my opinion that the nonleague schedules were tougher for Ithaca than the ll teams.  Does it mean that Ithaca was better? No.  Do I have to pick Union to win the national championship? No Do I think Union could beat Linfield? No.  What the hell do you want me to say?

Johnny Utah ~

Union89 hopes you were just joking....otherwise you are the BIGGEST azz monkey on this entire site.  Union beats Ithaca....RPI beats St. John Fisher....Hobart gets a big win against Cortland which beat Ithaca the previous week, and you have the balls to say...."ya but I wish Alfred played Hobart".  For the most part, people on here have been pretty cool about both wins and losses......but not you!!

Go climb back under your rock and come back out next September....

And Ive never said anything about the E8 teams being better than the LL teams ever.  Ive said the past few years that Ithacas schedules were better than the LL teams, and Ive also said that it means nothing about them being better than LL teams.  Ive also said before that a lot of national poll people are from public schools and probably dont like the fact that the ll teams never play public schools and many people have a problem with that scheduling philosophy.

What do I have to do, send a picture of me burning my Ithaca football stuff?

and what the hell does me saying "yea, but I wish alfred played Hobart" mean anything bad.  If they did, it truly would have been an E8 vs LL top three matchup.

I have conclusive video proof showing that Cortland was not hosed at the Boz...Lemme get my red arrows and still photos together...If I'm lucky, there will be a 6'8" Tight End to use for perspective...

(Note:  This post was an attempt at self-deprication after the 2004 Hobart/Union controversy at the Boz.  Please do not hate me for this post.  Hate me for everything else I do, though.)

PS - Syracuse is already in the E8 - it's called Utica.

Frank is correct. Utica College is a division of SU.
I know a former Saxon Warrior who teaches at Utica College.

If UC plans on getting serious about football, the had better take Shultz and Duley off of their helmets.

Oh yeah? Who is that teacher and what do they teach? I may know who they are.

Yeah, we Engineers are all about the past.  You bet.  Go past go.  Just check out the proud RPI 103 year history in the rivalry with Union.  Or the 43 game winless streak of '59 - '65, the one that started and ended with Middlebury.

All about the past.  Ah ha.  Haha.  Ha. ha.

Frank,

Perhaps the rest were unpaid. I didn't have any trouble getting into Union's stadium last week, nobody asked me for a ticket or a media credential.

Yea, there were like 4 gates and 3 different people standing around at different places looking for tickets.  A guy even asked me if I wanted to take a picture of the "U".  I just told him to push his thumbs together, point his hands up and I took a picture of that instead.
