...it is in turn not our week to post classy but to lay into RT, GRO, DOGG, and the once respected Redswarm who was chopped down this week by the bigwigs of d3 posting from what i heard...

Just to clarify, RedSwarm81 "chopped down by the bigwigs of d3 posting," means that a couple of 1,000+ posters got defensive about me calling "buh**it" on their claims that adding a playoff game to the end of the season doesn't add more academic pressure than educational value.

I love the playoffs and everything that goes into them, but I'm not going to pretend that adding them to the end of a nine or ten game season is consistent with "academics before athletics."

Other than that I'm still here, I'm still classy, I've just been busy.

The following reflects the best- and worst-case scenarios for the SoS (Quality of Wins) index for the teams most eligible for Pool C consideration.  Note:

1) Pool B teams are not included;

2) Either 6 or 7 of these teams will receive Pool C bids;

3) Teams that must have a "loss" for Pool C consideration are the current conference leaders.  They would receive Pool A bids if they do not lose this weekend;

4) W/L Records refer to the team's overall record followed by their in-region record; and

5) The best- and worst-case SoS numbers reflect either the loss or win, depending on which is stated in the "Pool C Consideration If..." column.

RT made it to his customer meeting in Poughkeepsie only 40 minutes late. This worked into RT's favor, as the customers and presenter give RT disapproving glances when RT waltzed into said conference room, RT responded with "this is RPI/UNION week, y'all slappies are lucky RT is even here. Resume your meeting"

Lew...RT has already begun securing the finest supplies to bring to Schenectady for Sat. to donate to Garnet/U82/U89/Zack's tailgate

RT needs to find the little plastic shot glasses like they use in the bars..anyone know where to find those on short notice, short of walking into the local bar this week and demanding a sleeve of them for RPI/UNION?

........FROM THE UNDER THE RADAR FILE........[/color]

This week's poll has some good parity. Interestingly enough, no one seems to be predicting a super-close UNION win in regulation (less than 3).

RT predicting special teams will be critical this week...RT has spoken to the trainers and RPI has flown in a special Matta'Hari from India to work on flexibility and mental focus with the RPI kickers this week. They will be ready to go come Sat.

Oh nice going, RT.   You've just triggered my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Getting closer to the press release re: RedSwarm81 clan caravan to the Battle of the Shoes.

RPI/Union is always a hard fought game.  No matter what the records are, no matter what time of year the game is at, no matter who is 'better' than who, it's always a battle.  This year however, is something we haven't experienced, possibly ever.

Until recently, in my most way back machine memory, RPI has always played Union in mid-October.  A few years both were really good.  But at that point in the season, while there was a lot riding on the game(s), a lot was to be determined in the following weeks as well.

But now, since the formation of the Liberty League, we all thought of a possibility of an RPI/Union finale for all the marbles, and finally, we got what we have asked for.

Our wildest fantasies have always wished for 2 undefeated teams meeting in this game, but the reality is, Hobart DOES round out the top 3 in the league, so while there's a blemish on RPI's record with losing to Hobart, it also makes this game that much more exciting, as there is a 3rd team who's playoff life will be affected by this game's outcome.

So while all things are thrown out the window for the 2005 Battle of the Shoes, this year, there is no underdog.  Stats are similar.  Records are similar.  And both teams are playing for the Liberty League title, LL Respect, an old pair of wooden shoes, a playoff spot(in RPI's case), and a high seed(In Union's case).  This is for all the marbles.  This is what we've been waiting for.

And speaking of marbles, by midway through the 3rd quarter Saturday, I will be speaking as if all of those marbles were lodged in my mouth.

Try a restaurant supply store or party supply store. Call ahead first. If they don't have 'em they should be able to tell you where to get 'em.

RT, a word the the wise,
If you plan on using those plastic shot glasses, you will also need straws to push the shot glass to the bottom of the Guiness.

Been there, done that.

RT is disappointed that JT didn't go the extra mile for RPI/UNION week and provide RT with the names/numbers of said establishements in the Ballston Spa/Saratoga area...

Come on JT, you have the wife who's the chef....spread some of that good fortune around through your good deeds..

Reg,

Yes...RT has analyzed this issue, Frank Rossi style. RT has weighed the pro's and con's and has decided that the "straw-push" method is still more convenient for RT. RT has administered enough tailgate car bombs to wish to avoid the mess of the real shot glasses. RT likes leveraging his place in a  'disposable society'. RT wishes to do his part in hastening the extinction of quality mammals by using plastics wherever he can.

One alternative is to pour the shot into the glass then drink...maybe not for the "car bomb purist" but does the trick.

lewdogg11

Being a Car Bomb expert, I am going to tell you right now that the 'pour' method affects the integrity of the car bomb.

The beauty of the car bomb, done the correct way, is that you can pound a 2/3 pint of Guiness, but have a delicious creamy ending which makes the pounding effort seem like a sweet dream.  With the pour method, you immediately taste the deliciousness that would normally be the happy ending thus making the rest of the Guiness seem more of a chore than an enjoyable experience.

Line of the Day:
Movie:  Con Air
Actor:  Dave Chappelle
Setting:  As the prisoners(Chappelle) is being prepared to be transferred onto the plane, they are being checked for contraband....

Corrections Guard:  'Open your mouth!'
<Chappelle opens mouth to show there is no contraband in there.>
Corrections Guard:  'Smells like someone sh!t in there!'
Chappelle:  'He told me he loved me.'

Classic.
