Bubdad, KS just wanted to welcome you and let you know that we appreciate it if people post in the third person on the LLPP.  That's just how we roll.

BTW - anyone else notice that there are 3 Mike's (Ditka, Golic and Greenburg) calling this SF-AZ game?

Kind of funny after the 4 Johnson's for Cincy in the early game.

KS was just looking through the Football Preview from the local paper where KS grew up.  As KS was reading the preview for his old HS he noticed some of the names and they are the kids of people KS went to HS with.  That is when KS realized that he first suited up for HS football thirty years ago.  KS needs to get his cane and go drink some prune juice and geritol.

tell him to take it out on the practice field...that is gonna be the best way to get his frustrations out...

Good advise, just having a tough time watching him go thru such an intense transition. I'll try taking my best advise to him so far.
HANG IN THERE!

It's all relative.  Going 0-2 sucks but as TGP is sure you know, life comes at you a lot harder than that.

Struggling in his football (or any) career is inevitable.  It's how he handles the set backs that will define him as a man.  In the grand scheme of things it will make him tougher when he's older so when he's 10+ years out of school, with a wife, 2 kids, and a (big b/c that's how the LL rolls) mortgage working for a company that's all over the press and crapping the bed, and the same week 50% of his buddies get laid off, he also has to put down the family dog and explain it to his 3 yr kid; losing a couple of football games back in 07 won't be such a big deal.

BTW - thx TGP just saved $150 for not having to go to the shrink.

Ok - TGP now has to go watch MNF West COAST KNOWS HOW TO PARTY

Woooo!

Pep enjoys football so much because of all the ups and downs associated with the game that so closely resemble what one encounters in life. One's character can develop as one faces adversities both on the field and in life...if one does not quit. One can fail but will ne'er be a failure provided one gets up after each fall. The Alfred fight song addresses this in the line, "On Saxon Warriors o'er every adversity, fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!"
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

dont forget the main point why most choose a school(or should be heavily weighted in their decision)....academics...susque is a very good school

Exactly!
My son saw a really good school, nearby, where he had friends and might have a chance to play sooner.

BubDad,
Your son has four solid reasons for wanting to go to Sus.  The Rev would liek to add a fifth....
Imagine being a young guy who chooses a school with a mediocre team (at best) and he thinks, "Man, in 20 years people at Susquehanna are going to remember my team as being the team that turned SusQ football around and made it a winning team."

It's a bit romantic or sentimental, but any young man worth his weight in salt wants to put his mark on the world, and one way to do that is to put his school on the map for football.

Look at guys like TGP and The Rev...we were there when Hobart was so bad that we made Norwich, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard look like world champions.   By the time The Rev graduated, the late Coach Maxwell had restored our honor and self-respect, and by the time TGP graduated a couple years later, Hobart was the real deal.  The Rev and TGP are proud of having been there at the turn-around.

The Rev prays your son will be able to experience that kind of transformation.

TGP, I know of only one man who wasn't afraid of Craggers, but I'm convinced he was a robot.  He's a very intense individual and you never know what to expect from him.  I was talking to him one time and congratulated him and the defense on their first shutout in 2 years or so, and all I got was "I guess we should have done this sooner"  I won't even get into what he said to me when I jumped offsides inside the 10 yard line.  ahhh memories...haha

Thanks,
I have been keeping it in that's why I'm crying on your shoulders. How do I help him? He played from freshmen year in high school and never went 0-2 in his life. I can see in his face that it's hard for him, he's the kind of kid that is happier playing and losing than watching and winning, but watching and losing is new and difficult.

Bubdad,

This is your son's opportunity to show his excellent character.  From your posts, The Rev gets the sense that you raised your son right.  So continue doing what you have been doing: support and encourage him, lead him by your good example.  Get on the phone with him and keep the talk positive.  Tell him to stay mentally tough, and to redouble his efforts.  Your son will follow your example.  That's a given.  He'll support and encourage his teammates.  He'll keep the talk positive, and he'll put more effort into it.  His teammates will see him leaving it all out on the field and unless they are complete dolts, they will respect that.  Those who are worth while will know that if your son can do it, they can do it.  Those who are worthless will tease him for being "too into" the game.  Let him use their bad attitude to help him focus his attention on the fact that he is a winner (even if the score board says he's not).  Being a winner is an attitude, not an accomplishment.

This is his chance to show that he is a leader...or at least a leader in training.

The Rev has a personal motto for your son and his friends to use:

Esto vir!

Latin for "Be a man!"  That stirred up The Rev years ago, and hopefully it will give your son and his friends a way to express the fire in their belly.

(By the way, this was The Rev's 500th post.)

Now that would be a great ESPN special...the Johnson's of the LLPP.  Bring on Kenny Mayne!  Just imagine how and interview with 'Gro would go...

Kenny: 'Gro, I hear you are the Chad Johnson of LLPP
'Gro: Chad Who?  The Ocho Cinqo has nothin on 'Gro.  'Gro would monkey stomp the gold teeth right outta his mouth.  Where's 'Gro's Future Hall of Fame jacket?

Reg is very upset about this whole fantasy thing....I mean a couple things really stand out to Reg....

#1 Fred "I suck so bad I shouldn't ever touch a football again" Taylor is dead to Reg.
#2 Antonio "I had my career fantasy football last night, give me some candy" Gates, will never see that many points again.
#3 LT should have hung 40 points on you if he could have picked up a block....was it Reg or was the Chicago "8 men in da box" Defense just nasty??

Seriously, they should start writing FF bonuses into player contracts.  Think of the boost you would get!

PM me your paypal address TDT...

PBR...

pbr preparing to be ld's biatch....

'gro

PBR +k for the pocket reference.

Reg, you need to up your game.  LT didn't rush for much, but he was the #2 RB last week. Plax was the #1 WR.   If you can't win with 50 points out of 2 players, then you might be kinda funny.

LD11 is not psyched about his FF turnout last night.  Yes, my team still wacked PBR's team, but Leinart, Fitzgerald and V Davis combining for like 16 points doesn't cut it in my book.  But....

1 and 0 baby....Bring on TDT!!!
