The Larries have a young O-line and a new QB, although he is a senior, so look for them to establish the running game.  They ran very well against Norwich (Soph RB ran for over 160 yds), but that doesn't mean a whole lot necessarily.  Good skill position guys on the outside, and the TE is a beast.  QB is a pocket passer (big change from last year with Bezio), so if the O-line can give him time, the skill guys can make plays downfield.

Defense is solid against the pass, still seems kind of soft against the run.  They like to keep the safety low in the box to help with the run, so they can give up big plays over the top.  Very aggressive defensive scheme in the past.  Haven't seen them play, so this could all be hearsay, but this should give you a pretty good idea.  How are the Saxons looking?

IMHO Susquehanna left due to 2 factors....
1 they wanted to be associated with a more "likeminded academia" (or read into that that they felt that the rest of the MAC was a stepdown academically, which is again, only Bmans opinion)...
2. although the LL has some dominant programs that compete nationally, the MAC seemed to Bman to be much deeper a conference...and there are relatively few easy MAC games....

Bman thinks that those 2 factors contributed to their desire to move...which if I recall correctly also included investigating the Centennial conference...

Bman thinks that SU will get an inkling quickly that the grass may not be greener in the LL, but wishes you and your son well nonetheless...

As you will find out (as a MAC poster) Bman is none to friendly to SUers after their move(defection) to the LL.

You may be the first poster Bman likes/respects in his entire time on the board....and bman agrees...encourage your son to hang in there...the struggles will be worth it regardless if that equates to wins or not...

Small world....RT is sitting in his office today and gets a phone call from one of the customers he's been trying for ever to get into but they've been blowing RT off.

Prospective client:  "hey...do you do radio broadcasting?"
RT: "uh yea, why?"
PC: "well I was watching Springfield/Union on line on Sat night and thought I heard your
        name"
RT: "yea..that was me, I do color for D3 sports sometimes"

(at this point, RT is feeling a little uncomfortable when his private affairs intersect his personal pursuits)

PC: "well, my daughter's friend plays for Springfield so I was watching the game. Did you
       see the lightning delay?"
RT: "yea, I was there, remember?"
PC: "well, it was pretty neat. Looked good. Anyway, I was thinking, you should swing
down next week and let's talk about that email you sent a couple weeks ago. My
team is interested in hearing about   (boring product stuff here)  "
RT: "cool...will do"

ZING!!....D3 broadcasts paying dividends!!!!!!!! Who knew??

BubDad

Susqu comments make sense but couldn't they stay in the Mac for football with other sports moving? Centennial did come up, guess they didn't want 3 teams & Susqu was odd man out.
During recruiting BubDad experienced a high level of paranoia amongst coaches about other coaches and support for recruiting. Some coaches understood and some did not that recruiting is as important at this level as any other now.

Did you tell them they could watch the archive and catch your three sweet on-camera shots?

indeed RT did...although, RT told him to look out for Jonnie Mac's crazy knowledge of every D3 team's nickname in the country. Seriously dude...you know way too much

On Susquehanna's move, my limited experience is that there are frequently several factors that go into these decisions.  Some of them are related to athletics, some are based on broader institutional goals.

When I spoke with people at SU last year, they did allude to the likeminded institution aspect.  Coach Briggs (who did not make that point) mentioned that he and the University would like to build a stronger recruiting base in New England.  They felt playing schools in New England (WPI) or geographically closer to it (Union, RPI) would help that.  Briggs has some familiarity with that area since he coached at Bowdoin.

I'm not sure whether SU, Moravian or Juniata were interested in leaving the MAC for football only, but I've heard the Conference wants its members to be in for everything, not taking an a la carte approach.

Personally I'll miss the trip to Susquehanna as part of the MAC rounds.  I really like Coach Briggs and enjoyed visiting the University.  But I also understand the sentiment that MAC people feel toward the "defectors."

PS -- Johnny Mac is awesome.  One of the hardest working broadcasters in D3, with apologies to James Brown (the singer and the NFL halftime guy).

This may be RT's first and last fantasy season. Congrats to Dirty Sanchez......RT's best player for week 1 ended up being on the bench. LaMont Jordan...WHAT??? RT threw him in as a slop RB and he blows up for 27 pts.

F  Ronnie Brown. He sucks. And where was Darrell Jackson last night?

Obviously RT's skillz is on the air and not in the general manager's booth.

JT's Dirty Sanchez team did pretty well.  Got a little nervous when Brandon Jacobs went down.  Hopefully DS can win w/o him.

PBR...

btw does the LLPP give thumbs up/down on chad johnson's td celebration last night? i.e. the HOF Jacket? pbrs still not sure but probably thumbs down it took too long and looked like he was trying too hard

Just keep 'em away from PP and LLPP.  Nothing wrong with personal stuff getting a professional deal going. Happens in business all the time.
