Ithaca and Hobart used to play each other yearly. In fact, 2003 was the last time the two teams met during the regular season.
(snip)
It's a shame Hobart and Ithaca stopped playing. It was a nice regional rivalry between two traditionally good programs from difference conferences.

The Rev thinks the Hobart/Ithaca series was on-again-off-again.  In The Rev's four years (1990-1993 seasons) Hobart did not play Ithaca.  TGP, when did we pick up Ithaca again? 1996? 97?

The SEC is not two seperate conferences and they do not get two AQ's for tournament sports.  The MAC Freedom and MAC Commonwealth each get an AQ in basketball and I am sure other sports besides football.  They are two seperate entities under a parent umbrella and the NCAA recognizes them as two seperate conferences.

JU and the bombers started mixing it up with the statesmen in 1994.

RT told him to look out for Jonnie Mac's crazy knowledge of every D3 team's nickname in the country. Seriously dude...you know way too much

Doth Jonnie Mac wax eloquent about how Hobart came to become the Statesmen?  The Rev would like to know.

As per a Hobart College release....

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College athletic teams earned their nickname, the Statesmen, in the early part of the 20th century for taking a lengthy road trip at a time when college teams didn't travel far for contests.

Or, going to Wikipedia...

Hobart's athletic teams became known as the "Statesmen" in 1936, following the football team's season opener against Amherst College. The morning after the game, the New York Times referred to the team as "the statesmen from Geneva," and the name stuck. The nickname for William Smith's athletic teams comes from a contest held in 1982. Several names were submitted, but "Herons" was selected because of the strong and graceful birds that lived near Odell's Pond. These ominous birds frequently flew over the athletic fields as the teams were practicing.

Might be a stupid question but do you need a special Cable box for HD Channels or is there a specific upgrade you have to get with the cable company, comcast in my case.

AJ  knows this is the most accurate place to have all questions answered.

AJ all I can tell you is that it is very very worth it...and there is nothing like watching a game in HD... when we first got the tv and the box we watched the yankee game and couldn't believe the difference in quality between hd and regular it's like being in the best seats in the stadium... Superman recomends that you also get a good sound system and do the surrond sound... superman has bose speakers around the house and it is awesome to hear the backround sounds during the games

Very funny.   Kid in the duck suit got a game suspension I think.
