here is a USCG question for you- if a person is sailing a hobie cat and is completely bombed, can he be ticketed?  I guess yes, since it is Boating while intoxicated...right?

Yes, it's illegal, but funny.

QuotePssst- Reg never turns on his VHF anymore.....Isn't that a law too?
This is probably the more serious of the two.  If you have a VHF on board, it's supposed to be on CH16 at all times.

The Rev can understand why you have it off, because every dink and dumb kid is on the radio talking about ish, doing radio checks (which they're not supposed to do) or calling in fake Maydays. It makes a relaxing day on a boat severely aggrevating.

Now if doods were on the radio talking LL foosball, that would be acceptable.

Rev-

I have it off for 2 reasons-  (I actually start out with it on, but it gets annoying so quick)
#1 radio checks, people hailing other people 42 times and those whiny sailboaters screaming at boaters about Right of Way, stealing their wind and big wakes.  Coast guard tries to control this but is it very annoying.

#2 Our favorite anchorage is about 2 miles away.  If something happens between our departure and arrival, we would see it happening.  If it is further down or up the river, there are 500 other boats around that are closer.

Dont you have the one channel for emergencies only, then the other channel for chit-chat and that stuff?  And wouldnt you be able to scan both, but only transmit on one?

9 and 16 are always monitored. RT thought 9 was for real emergencies and 16 is the "hailing channel" where you call out to another boat and direct them to an open channel for 'chit-chat'

Gee Rev, Mom could've sworn that the best way to ID you was by taking your picture to Geneva!

BTW, Our friends at weather.com say it will be 78, partly cloudy, with only a 10% chance of precipitation. Sorry, the Boz and the cat turds will not be frozen.

BOL!!!  This is why I dont use the radio!

16- emergency only....no hailing, no chit chat, no radio checks
9- Used to hail, once contact is made, request to transfer to another channel (68-71)

I can scan both, but like I said, you get people that use these things to carry on a conversation when I would rather be listening to Biggie and Mike Jones.

This is the start of The Rev's Marathon Weekend.

Long day of meetings at ASU, then the FAA from 1-5, and then the Coast Guard from 7-9 or 10pm. The Rev flies out of PHX at 11:55 pm, arriving in SYR at 8:44 a.m.

Rev's Dear Old Daddy will pick him up and they will head to The Boz for the Frozen Cat Turd Bowl.  (Not sure how frozen it will be this early in the season.)  Look for a tired, balding dude wearing an Auburn sweatshirt with an old bald dude.  That will be the Rev and Daddy.  Check the food tent first.

After that, Rev and DoD will drive the two+ hours back to lovely downtown Norwich, NY.

Nina's will be closed, but DoD has already stocked up some pepperoni rolls for The Rev.

On Sunday, DoD and Rev will drive to The Bronx and meet up with Sister #1 for the Yankees game.

Monday, Rev must try to squeeze in some QT with Mother.  Departs SYR at about 5 p.m., arrives PHX 10:00 pm.

The Rev has a pile of dirty laundry waiting for him to wash when he gets back. Damn.

The Rev Network will return to our regularly scheduled postings on Tuesday.

Peace out, beeyotches.

C'mon Rev -

Spend the $40 and get yourself a proper Hobart sweatshirt from the bookstore while you're out there for game day.

Those are a little old, but still good.

How can this guy live with himself?  I mean, why would you still go out and do these public appearances?

Reg is honestly speechless about this video.  I honestly can't imagine a fight like this happening at a pop warner game.

That was incredible!!!  We had a parents brawl in pop-warner, but nowhere NEAR that level.  That was insane.  The worst part is the little kid screaming 'MOMMY' at the end.  Man, that big bald guy was a bad mother f'er.  He was dropping bombs.  Looks like 3-5 years to me...
