Hey RT here ia a little follow up on your VMW call

08:43  VMW VMware: Initiation details (79.31 )

We note VMW was initiated by many brokers this morning. Bear Stearns initiated VMW with an Outperform and a $106 tgt based on their view that the co is the right technology (x86 server virtualization) to solve a pressing need (to operate and manage IT resources more efficiently) at the right time (the technology has become generally accepted as dependable). They also cite sustainable leadership in the virtualization and sustainable meaningful mkt growth... As mentioned at 6:29, BofA initiated VMW with a Neutral and a $75 tgt saying it's a leading provider (~90% share) of virtualization software, a thinly penetrated (<5%), high growth mkt in tech that allows multiple op systems and apps to run simultaneously on the same piece of hardware... Also mentioned, Deutsche Bank initiated VMW with a Hold and an $80 tgt. They note, while VMW is the clear leader in the virtualization sector and is positioned for strong revenue and earnings growth, they believe the share price already reflects much of this opportunity... VMW was also initated at Wachovia with a Market Perform and a $70-75 tgt, UBS with a Buy, Citigroup with a Buy and a $100 tgt, Credit Suisse with a Neutral and a $85 tgt and J.P Morgan with an Overweight.

hopefully folks got in when RT dropped the tip when it was in the $60's

Unbeknownst to U89, his broker got him in on 500 shares at $26 a couple months ago.

Well...only plausible scenario RT sees is that U89's brokerage house had a block of shares set aside for them if they were one of the underwriters on the IPO. If they were in the syndicate that put up the cash, then they get preferred pricing...kind of like executive stock options. Since there's no "market" yet prior to an IPO, the $26 price is an arbitrary price. Now granted it's low risk, there still exists a risk that a stock could open on day 1 at, say, $30/share at IPO but tank to $1.00.

So, the short answer is "yes", U89 could have shares at $26.

U89...who's your broker?

Thank You, RT....U89 will be waiting by his mailbox for written apologies from Reg and TDT...

RT, he's an old high school buddy who works for Wachovia.

U89...have your broker do a stop-limit, good til cancelled sales order for $90/share on the VMWare. You'll be thanking me in a year.

let's see....500*$26 = $13,000 paid
                500*$90 = $45,000 sell

pre-tax profit: $32,000....now assuming this happens in the next 12mo, apply short-term cap gain tax of 40%, so net is somewhere around $19,000. Not too shabby, especially when you didnt even know it was happening. Tell your buddy to find more of these. Drinks on you at Shoozapalloza 3

What should U89 do w/ the $19,000 from his investment???

"You need to start bringing me information, Bud"

Thx for the feedback, bro...

RT,

What do you think about an 8 month 20K CD at 5.8%  Isnt that a no-brainer?

(JU already semi-followed some of RT's advice and bought a half a hundred shares of IBM....not to bad so far for me!

Utah, U89 was thinking the same way you are.  Two weeks ago U89 walked into his local Sovereign Bank to open an 8 month CD.  The banking representative told U89 that Sovereign has a new money market offering 4.95%.....as stated by others, this is a pretty solid rate which allows you to keep your funds liquid....you may want to check it out.

just be very careful w/ stop orders...they can easily jump right over your strike price or being the little guy you will get shuffled to the back of the bus behind the elephants by the time your order is processed you should just grab the ky jelly...

Citizens of LLPP, I have a wonderful financial opportunity for you all.  I would like for you all to contribute your entire life savings to the United Enginegro Pizza Fund.

Don't let the name mislead you. Your contribution to the UEPF will also be used by myself on beer, wings, sex panther cologne, novelty oversized "#1" foam mitts, and of course, strippers.

What besides Goldeneye could make 12 college students less productive?  Reg actually thinks that doing crack would have done less damage than Goldeneye.

goldeneye and mariocart.... 3 hours between class and dinner and 3 hours after.

do you still walk into buildings and notice what would be perfect for a sniper rifle position?  A buddy of mine from IC sent me an email with a picture in it and no text.  It looked exactly like the big room in the temple.  I knew instantly what he was thinking.  it was kindof scary.

god I love that game.  I may have to hook the N64 back up this fall.

Let gro recap the last phone call he just received at work

Gro (looking at caller ID, 800 number): Ah what the hell it might be important
Gro: <Company Name> This is <Gro>
Caller (in indian accent): Yes I'm looking for Mr. <Gro>
Gro: Ummm, let me transfer you to him... <Hangs Up>

Is that a problem that I still have a sh!t eating grin from doing that?

Gro,
Reg plans on using this the next time he gets a call at his home phone for "Ruth Bashor" (the person that had my phone number before I had it.  Reg gets calls ALL of the time from debt collectors.

Last time Reg gave a 5 minute ear lashing to one of Ruth's friends who called twice in one day looking for her, included in the conversation was "Ruth hasn't had this number for 4 years now, nice friend you are" and my favorite "When you talk to Ruth make damn sure to tell her to pay off the 42 debt collectors that call me on a weekly basis!"

U89,

Ive checked out Soverign and all the big banks and its the fees at those banks that bothered me.  I havent checked in a while, but I remember having to have pay way to many fees to make anything there worthwhile.  Ill check it out again though.

RT,

I actually know a few people that work at Fidelity too.  I will have to check em out.  But the ING guys are pretty good.  I still dont like the high risk stuff yet.......

But I have been using an Ameritrade acct. that I really like.

(but actually just saw that fidelity is only $10 more per online trade...)

Reg,
That's awsome.  U89 has his own 'Ruth Bashor'.....her name is Denise Galvin.  U89 gets debt calls non-stop and I'm sure the collector thinks, "F-U U89, just put Denise Galvin on the phone and stop covering for her!!!!"  Denise Galvin has junior high school age kids who are very poorly behaved and skip school alot.  U89 get's many calls from the school the, "your daughter Michelle swore at a teacher today and you must accompany her to school tomorrow" and "your daughter Michelle was seen prior to school, but never entered the building."  These Galvin's from C-Town seem like a piece of work.

Fidely is as "low risk" as it comes. Also, how many trades do you make in a year to pay attention to the difference between $15-25 trades?...5 or 6? You're not a day trader. Anyway, if you are looking for alot of functionality with minimal expense and low risk, Fidelity has RT's vote.

....and pay no mind to Frank's quips toward RT. He's an attorney who spends all day dreaming up "What if" LL scenarios. RT was able to pull Frank's profile pic from his company directory
