You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Available, one slightly used manager, only made it to the playoffs every season with last team.  This did not meet corporate standards and he therefore is being released.

Did anyone catch the dallas game?  What a crazy come from behind freak show!  Buffalo had the game won like 10 times in the last quarter!  CLOSE THE DEAL

Now onto this whole "call time out right before they snap the ball for the winning field goal attempt"- This chicken ish tactic bothers Reg to no end.  Do these freaking coaches really need the league to make up a rule that makes this stupid ice the kicker technique go away?  It is really starting to bother Reg.  Sure so far it may have worked, however, what if the kicker missed the one kick that the coach called TO and made the second one?

This is ruining parts of the game.

PBR...

pbr is still stunned that buffalo lost that game...how many turnovers do you need to put a game away...romo was awful

'gro

in Gro's $FF league gro had the dallas D vs. Marshawn Lynch... gro ended up winning by 3 points. go doids!

That game was crazy, how many times can you get kicked in the nuts (ints, kick return TD, and tipped passes caught for TD's all count as nut shots) and still win?

No more calling TO's to ice the kicker... but the stadium will be allowed to play ice ice baby.

PBR...

did someone say  ice....

A manager's job is to get his team into the playoffs.  Torre did that.  Playoffs favor the hot team at the right time, especially in a 5 game series.  Look at how mant different teams have won the WS since 2001.  It really came down to one thing, the Yanks ace Chen Min Wan (sp) imploding.  For a 19 game winner, he had a 19 ERA against the Indians.

KS was being bitter and sarcastic last night.  The veteran players have really pi$$ed KS off.  The only game KS isn't po'ed at the vets performance is game two.  Nobody was going to hit Carbonna that night, he was in the zone.

Buffalos D scored 30 last night for KS to lead the Monkeyspankers to an upset win over Seven Kinds of Smoke.

PBR,

For the record, here are the salaries for MLB as listed by the AP at the beginning of the season.

No.   Team   Payroll
1.   New York Yankees   $ 189,639,045
2.   Boston Red Sox    $ 143,026,214
3.    New York Mets    $ 115,231,663
4.   Los Angeles Angels    $ 109,251,333
5.   Chicago White Sox    $ 108,671,833
6.   Los Angeles Dodgers    $ 108,454,524
7.   Seattle Mariners    $ 106,460,833
8.   Chicago Cubs    $ 99,670,332
9.   Detroit Tigers    $ 95,180,369
10.   Baltimore Orioles    $ 93,554,808
11.   St. Louis Cardinals    $ 90,286,823
12.   San Francisco Giants    $ 90,219,056
13.   Philadelphia Phillies    $ 89,428,213
14.   Houston Astros    $ 87,759,000
15.   Atlanta Braves    $ 87,290,833
16.   Toronto Blue Jays    $ 81,942,800
17.   Oakland Athletics    $ 79,366,940
18.   Minnesota Twins    $ 71,439,500
19.   Milwaukee Brewers    $ 70,986,500
20.   Cincinnati Reds    $ 68,904,980
21.   Texas Rangers    $ 68,318,675
22.   Kansas City Royals    $ 67,116,500
23.   Cleveland Indians    $ 61,673,267
24.   San Diego Padres    $ 58,110,567
25.   Colorado Rockies    $ 54,424,000
26.   Arizona Diamondbacks    $ 52,067,546
27.   Pittsburgh Pirates    $ 38,537,833
28.   Washington Nationals    $ 37,347,500
29.   Florida Marlins    $ 30,507,000
30.   Tampa Bay Devil Rays    $ 24,123,500

The real story is the Yankees, thanks to the tax, carry teams like KC, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Tampa Bay, etc. that would not be able to afford to pay anything close to professional salaries were it not for Yankee revenue.

Other teams also contribute to this largess but not like the Yankees since they are a money making machine.

When I shopped for an engagement ring I got the biggest and best one I could afford for Mrs. Lyco and did not look for a piece of cut glass.

The Yankees were beat by a team playing above their head - 12 for 24 in 2 out situations with runners in scoring position is .500, not a bad average for anyone.

The other dramatic tale of this season is how other teams were simply swept in their series only further underscoring that getting hot at the right time is what the post-season is all about.

And, if you examine the salaries closely you will see the successful teams all paid about the same amount for their talent - meaning they got a better return on their capital expenditure than the Yankees did, not to mention the meltdown of the Mets.

As for Lycoming's football season, call me in August 2008 - I need a ten month sleeping pill.

Lyco, this is one of the great myths of baseball.  The luxury tax isn't large enough to cover any real portion of a Major League roster's collective salary.  The only profit-sharing in MLB that really makes any difference on a team's balance sheet is the TV contracts.  Incidentally, the Yankees don't contribute much to this pool because YES has a relatively cheap deal with the Yankees.  (imagine that).

This is not to make an excuse for the teams at the bottom of your list.  The Devil Rays are amongst the most profitable teams in MLB every year.  No one makes money with ticket sales.  Money is made on television in pro sports.  The Rays don't pay anyone because the owners are lining their pockets.  (This, ironically, is nothing new in Tampa where Hugh Culverhouse made the Bucs the most profitable NFL franchise forever while rining up 4-12 seasons).

Id love to know how much the Yankees and Redsox (they own the station that carries them anyway) make off of TV revenue.  Sox sold out every single game this year too with the most expensive seats in the league (only 35,000 a game though still)

Bottom line, the yanks choked with one of the best lineups in the history of baseball.....
