I disagree, its strategy.  If you are smart enough to keep your time outs, you get to use them whenever you please.  Why should the opposing team make it easier for the kicker to make the kick?  If its snowing, should the other team wait till it dies down for the kicker to kick?  Its part of the game.

You play to win the game!!

Play to win the game.....Strategy??.....Give Reg a break.
HOW DOES IT MAKE IT EASIER OR HARDER??  So far, coaches have been very lucky that the kickers have made the first kick, making them look like some sort of genious.  What happens when the kicker misses the first kick and makes the second one?  The coach looks like an idiot.

Strategy is one thing.  This has just been good luck for a couple idiot coaches.

Play to win the game?  This is more like a nut shot after the whistle has blown

It makes it more difficult because it is difficult to make a 50+ yard kick two times in a row.  I think it is the referees fault for not blowing the whistle soon enough and having the kicker actually kick it.  That is risking injury unecessarily.  You call the TO before the snap to give the kicker 30 more seconds to think about it and possibly over think it.

I think the refs are doing all they can do.  Bottom line is that its a minor flaw in the game/timeout system that should be fixed next year.

No way its all part of the game.

In baseball, if the team that is batting is on fire hitting and the manager goes out to talk to his pitcher, is it because he really wants to talk to him or is it because he wants to give his pitcher in the bullpen more time to get ready.  Exactly, everyone knows he is just stalling, its the same as calling a TO in  a football game.  The other coach knows how many timeouts the opponent has he should know they're going to try and ice his kicker.  It isnt rocket science.

You are wrong and this last second ish could be injuring players.  People on both going balls out for a play that doesn't count?  What sense does that make??

You are obviously of the same caliber of the snakes in the NFL that have been pulling this crap.

Fan of D3- How would you like it if a long snapper in D3 got hurt on a play where the head coach of a team called a TO a 1/2 second before he snapped the ball, the defender played it live and he's out for the year or a career??

Is that stalling?  Or could the coach have called the TO 5 seconds earlier, avoiding all contact, still icing the kicker?

First, if players are getting injured, it is the REFEREES fault for not blowing the play dead.  The coach has the right to call a timeout 1 second before the play starts the same as a qb has the right to call a TO 1 second before the play clock runs out.

If it makes me a snake for playing WITHIN the rules, then I guess I'm a snake.

Thirdly, I would feel terrible if a d3 player got his knee hurt but if he snapped te ball he should be expecting the defender i guess?  I would feel terrible if it was a D1 player, or a pop warner player, you never wanna see anyone get hurt but as long as ur playing within the rules, its the nature of the game

fan of d3

I mean come on, if you're gonna change that rule then you need to change the rule that a time out can't be called before a snap that isnt a field goal too??

What if a defensive coach wanted a TO 1 sec before a shotgun snap because his defense wasnt set up properly and someone gets hurt...you cant always prevent injury
