Not that Gro needs anyone to agree with him, but ZA's points were similar...Rowan is a very good team...Very good...And the same is stated for Union, RPI, Hobart, Ithaca, SJF, Cortland, Alfred, etc....

The "Beast of the East" is a catchy phrase...but it sets a fans expectations high and ZA also did not see athletes that were any better than their opponents.

They did what they had to do to win...and should be congratulated for that!
And to do it with injuries is an accomplishment....But everyone has them at one point or another in their season...This is why its the ultimate team sport...The TEAM has to find another way to win.

RPI found a way with a freshman QB!  ZA got to see this "kid" and he is a smart QB and will become very "dangerous" as he gets stronger and more experienced.  This kind of talent exists in the LL, the E-8, etc...Not just in jersey.

It was someone from Rowan that stated that after Rowan was to blow out Union, he couldn't wait to see all the silence on this board as if we were going to go away!!!

We'll, no one has "gone away"....We're still HERE!!!

All of these teams will be solid again next year, and UNION 82 believes that you can add Alfred to the list.

Thanks, U82, for mentioning our Saxons (8-3 in '04, 9-2 in '05). AU and Union have had some outstanding games in the past. Would have loved to see the two tangle at George Bailey "It's A Wonderful Life" Field in NCAA this year, but was not to be.

AU's '06 schedule will be a good test--return of the Pumpkinheads (NCAA) and the Thiel Tomcats (NCAA) to the schedule. E8 Coach of the Year Dave Murray is a class individual who will continue to bring top notch student-athletes to AU.

And, from its roots in the old ICAC days, Upstate has emerged with two premier D3 football conferences. Cheers to the LL and E8 for its fine representation of New York State on the national D3 football scene, which is much more noteworthy than NY's dismal display in DI. D3....for the love of the game in its purest form.... Throw in a handful of homeless instrumentalists making mediocre music and you've got a good time on an autumn Saturday afternoon in Upstate NY.

U82: Does Union still have the oldtime solo trumpeter who plays the alma mater (or fight song) after each Union score? Stuff like that.....priceless.

What about Utica? 6-4 this year with all of our top guys coming back? Hopefully we can contend with the big dogs.

'gro

Not so fast Bud... On paper, a winning season should help recruiting. And you can spin your 4 losses (SJF, IC, AU, RPI) to the fact that they were all ECAC/NCAA teams.

But Utica was definetly outmatched vs. those 4 games and your 6 wins were against not the greatest teams. Utica is on the right track, the only way to improve is to play the big dogs and they do that. Your biggest challenge will be pulling recruits away from the other E8 schools.

Naked Nott Run

hope everyone had a great holliday... so I forsee another Mount Union Stagg Bowl...they are rippin it so far
Anyone notice how none of the kids from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were even a little bit cool... Where was the athlete who pile drives wonka into the chocolate river??? Coulda done sooo much more with that "classic"

dewcrew88

Gro,
I definitely agree with you. I think that a winning season can absolutely help with recruitment efforts... maybe we'll be able to steal some recruits from the Ithacas and the Fishers.

Also, I do understand that our wins were not against the highest competition, but 3 of those wins were in conference, which are not an easy task to gain, no matter who the team is or if it's a "rebuilding" year, etc.

Between those 4 losses, I think we are the closest to beating Alfred, as good at that team is and will continue to be.

I think we'll be in the hunt next year for an ECAC bid, and I feel that's a huge accomplishment for a program that is less than a decade old.

bigdvs

bigdvs echoing every LL poster was underwhelmed by Rowan, they are not a full notch better then the rest of the East Region. To their credit they are deeper and did not look uncomfortable being behind at the half (though bigdvs thinks U opening a 10 pt  lead in the 2nd half would have changed that alot). bigdvs was suprised at the defensive adjustments rowan made and how they slowed the U.

bigdvs would like to think that the east would be in the Stagg this year but Rowan really won't be able to hang with MU, oh well.

bigdvs was sorry to see the Johnnies went down, must be waiting until next year so they can have a LL team out to Collegeville.

happy holidays and best of luck the rest of the way DelVal

It doesn't have to end here LL. Gro plans on posting until right after the stagg... who's coming with me?

gobombers15

'Tis the season for giving, not taking. However, when I woke up this morning to see I was smited two points without having any posts within the last three pages, you can imagine my surprise. GB15 would like to give a collective middle finger from the E8 and LL to the DJAC and all the other haters on these boards.

In the words of Rev.Run, "Life gives to the giver and takes from the taker." How's that for some karma, Dirty Jers?

Gro thinks its the sneaky MAC posters who have been smiting both the E8 and LL recently.GB, Gro gives you a +1 to prove that it wasn't Gro, at least not in the last 12 hours.

Gro also notices the most annoying fans in D3... Mount Union... are already in the MAC room. greeeat.

Knightstalker

There you go GB15, smote again just for assuming that a DJAC poster took your karma.

.........FLASH...........RT WILL MAINTAIN A POSTING PRESENCE ALL YEAR....

As RT sits at his cube on a luscious Mon. pondering his life, his new career (beginning in Jan), and his unseemly gut, he has made a committment to the LL board and will maintain a full year presence on PP. RT feels that PP provides the kind of comfort to to him that he hasn't found since Quilted Northern w/ Aloe hit the store shelves many moons ago.

RT will spend the next couple of days trying to decide who he wants to win the Stagg...even though Rowan is from the east, RT cannot, in good conscience, root for Rowan. RT will be pulling for Del Val in the east and will reevaluate his position on an as-needed basis.

Bman also hope you beat the ever lovin hell out of Susquehanna for years to come...when they join you

also, we do not worry about the Mount posters....we understand how new the internet is in the mid-west and how fun a new toy always is....
